Side/window Air Bag Problems of Nissan Titan

Right side air bag has gone bad two separate times. Advised that it is a common problem.

A low speed accident occurred. The driver and passenger airbags deployed. The drivers side airbag exploded rather than inflate, leaving me with no protection. The gas and particulate filled the cabin instantly leaving me with no vision in or outside the truck until I was able to open the driver door. The smell was similar to burnt gunpowder. A debris scorched a hole in front of my shirt. The passenger bag only partially inflated. Speed 30mph. Direct head on collision to side of other vehicle. I have picture but cannot upload right now. This airbag system is dangerous and defective.

Stationary in a left hand turn lane of a side street off a state highway, (pulling a boat trailer). Oncoming vehicle drifted across center line and impacted head on, off the center line of the hood towards the drivers side of my vehicle. Other vehicle appeared to by moving at approximately 30 mph at impact. Neither drivers or passenger side airbag deployed. Passenger seat was occupied. Other driver attempted to swerve at last second, did not appear to brake. Force of impact moved our vehicle from straight ahead approximately 6 feet to the left. State police responded and charged other driver with dui. Query filed with Nissan who responded that the airbag system and seat belts functioned properly. Photos of the accident and a dash cam video of the event are available and were provided to Nissan.

The contact owns a 2004 Nissan Titan. The contact stated that the air bag warning lamp was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the technician diagnosed that the front passenger side air bag module was open and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 27,800 and the current mileage was 28,144.

Side airbags deployed while going over a bump/hitting a pothole during a turn-no wheels left the ground and passenger knocked unconcious by deployment. See this problem mentioned in forums yet no recall and dealers unable to assess problem without specialist to check computer data. Perhaps sensors too sensitive to bumpy turns/maybe defective-don't know.

The contact owns a 2004 Nissan Titan. While driving at speeds of 40 mph with his seatbelt secured, both the passenger and drivers side air bags randomly deployed without warrant. The contact drove the vehicle to the dealer where he was awaiting a diagnosis of the failure. The dealer advised the manufacturer would be contacted and an investigator would come assess the failure of the vehicle. The vehicle had not yet been repaired. The failure and current mileage were 81,406.

The side air bags of my 2004 Nissan Titan deployed as I was driving. There was no impact, I was driving approximately 30mph on a asphalt surfaced road when the air bags just deployed. Luckily I was only going 30mph so I did not crash. Nissan has been contacted but it seems that they're going out of their way to try an prove that this vehicle was in a wreck. The car has never been wrecked and has a clean carfax as well as an autocheck.

Passenger side airbag remains deactivated ~50% of the time with a 125 lb passenger in seat.
