2010 Nissan Versa. Consumer writes in regards to airbag safety recall. The consumer stated the while the airbag was being repaired a spring broke. The consumer was informed the recall repair was completed, but the air bag would not deploy until the spring was replaced.
The steering wheel suddenly started turning all the way to the left on its own while I was driving straight about 50mph on the highway. The steering wheel locked in this position and was impossible to turn back to a neutral position. The car veered all the way to the right, causing me to spin several times before hitting the concrete barrier. The airbags did not deploy after hitting the concrete barrier. We always took my car for all necessary recalls, the last of which was on 6/12/2018 for airbags. Takata recall I took my car in for air bag repairs which are reported to have been completed. My air bag lights are still on. I am being told this is not related to the recall but may result in the air bags not being deployed if there was an accident. The light is constantly on and the car has not been in accident since the air bag lights have been on.
Tl the contact owns a 2010 Nissan Versa. While driving 20 mph, the contact noticed an abnormal burning odor coming from the steering wheel area of the control panel. The contact also heard an abnormal popping sound. Shortly after, the contact lost control of the vehicle as it spun out of control and crashed into a ditch. The air bags did not deploy. There were no injuries. A police report was filed. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who stated that a new front bumper needed to be installed and dents on the rear passenger doors needed to be repaired. Takata recall, my vehicle wasn't in the recall list but it should be. I was in an accident and my passenger side airbag where I was sitting did not deploy. I suffered a concussion, cervical strain and other injuries from the airbag not deploying. Police report number a16-00409, ingham county sheriff- delhi township was at the scene.

The contact stated that while traveling approximately 45 mph, a deer crossed the contacts path and impacted the front and front right drivers side of the vehicle causing a crash.
