My front passenger door was closed and my side airbags deployed. My 4 year old son was in his car seat in the back seat on the passenger side when the air bags deployed. My car was in drive but I was not moving, I was dropping a friend off at home. It was on a city street. Nissan is refusing to pay for a rental until they come and look at my car, which they said would take 6 to 8 weeks.
Takata recall contacted Nissan on 11/2/17 and they stated that they would not have the driver side airbag parts until April 2018 for repair. They advised me not to my vehicle and thus leaving me with no means of transportation. They want me to contact my insurance in regards for a rental car and they are making me responsible for storing my vehicle until the parts are available, 6 months from now.
I have contacted 3 different Nissan dealers in fresno, clovis, merced and none of them no anything about the recall notice I received. What's more ridiculous is it cannot be fixed until spring of 2018! this is a defect with the driver side airbag that can cause death. I need to be in a rental care until this can be fixed. Notice received in mail 9/21/17.
Takata recall - pending parts availability for replacement. The driver's side airbag needs to be replaced however Nissan indicates the parts will not be available until first or second quarter of 2018. The manufacturer and the dealer have offered no assistance with a loaner. Nissan indicated we can submit an expense for a rental car, but there is no guarantee it will be reimbursed. This is completely unacceptable.
Takata recall. The contact owns a 2010 Nissan Versa. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign numbers: 17v449000 and 16v349000 (air bags). The parts to do the repair were unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The dealer (robbins Nissan, 18711 us-59, humble, TX 77338) was contacted and confirmed that the parts were not available for the recall remedy. The manufacturer was contacted at 800-867-7669 and provided case number: 28452502. The manufacturer stated that the parts for the front driver's side air bag would not be available until spring of 2018, and the contact could use a loaner vehicle until that time. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.
