1 Other Fuel System problem of the 2022 Nissan Versa

Failure Date: 03/17/2026

I purchased this car from carvana on 02/25/26, 2022 Nissan Versa s manual transmission. On four occasions over the course of two separate days, while under way, I lost power and the car went into a limp mode. Twice I was able to pull off the road, twice I had to stop on the road. After coming to a complete stop I was able to place the car in first gear and continue on driving. This power loss puts me at risk to be rear ended by the following car. I took it to the Nissan dealer on 03/17/26 expressing my concern. I was told that they could not find any code in the car that indicated the trouble I experienced, nor was there any illumination of the check engine light. Because of that I was told that my car could not be serviced.

2 Other Fuel System problem of the 2016 Nissan Versa

Failure Date: 02/13/2026

While merging onto [xxx] toward [xxx] , my 2016 Nissan Versa suffered a total loss of power while crossing active railroad tracks. The car stuttered and jerked before completely stalling and stopped responding. I was stranded in a high-traffic zone around [xxx] pm. I was worried that the vehicles coming behind me would not see my small car right away, as I was positioned past the railroad tracks and partway down the middle of the downhill slope. Because of the crest of the hill behind me, I lost sight of approaching traffic in my rearview mirror, which meant drivers coming over the top of the hill wouldn't see my stalled car until they were already descending toward me. I was fortunately able to get it restarted and drove it immediately to a Nissan dealership. A diagnostic scan confirmed code p0746. The service technician told me the cvt assembly is internally destroyed ('toasted') and requires a full replacement. This catastrophic failure happened at only 50,484 miles, which is dangerously premature for a major transmission component. (note- I have a tech video that they sent me of there diagnostic just cant apply to the notes) information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

3 Other Fuel System problem of the 2020 Nissan Versa

Failure Date: 01/05/2026

Recently out 2020 Nissan Versa started "shuddering" when accelerating at low speeds. I took it to the Nissan dealership and they quoted me $7,000 saying the transmission had to be replaced. I conducted online reviews and found Nissan customers experience this same issue in concerning numbers. I found multiple Nissan technical bulletins about this very issue, with this vehicle. Not only is it concerning they are allowing the safety of our loved ones to be at risk, but then do not have the loyalty to the customers to fix the problem with a recall.

4 Other Fuel System problem of the 2020 Nissan Versa

Failure Date: 01/01/2026

Unknown: overwhelming smell of fuel (fumes) inside the cabin. Dealer "repaired" the issue when newer. Car has same issue again but the dealer has no records of what was done to fix the problem. Exposed to these fumes cannot be good for driver nor passengers.

5 Other Fuel System problem of the 2020 Nissan Versa

Failure Date: 10/15/2025

Stalls when accelerating after temporary stopping. Particularly when pulling out onto a main road. Wheels not registering psi properly.

6 Other Fuel System problem of the 2024 Nissan Versa

Failure Date: 04/18/2025

I purchased my new 2024 Versa s 5 speed on [xxx] from jim click Nissan dealership in tucson, az. I brought it in to Nissan dealership 2 months later [xxx], 4200 mi, for complaints of surging, fluctuating fan speeds with air conditioning on high. They claim they couldn’t reproduce problem. It continues to persist to this day as I write this on 4/20/25. I checked the alternator myself with multimeter on 4/12/25 & it revealed acv ripple of 29-30 volts! battery at rest 12. 7 dcv, battery at idle 13. 8 dcv, battery 13. 9 dcv under load, and repeatedly producing same values on morning of [xxx], just minutes before bringing car in to jim click service appointment for follow up of fan fluctuations & request for alternator check up. However these data results conflict with jim click Nissan dealership diagnosis on 4/18/25 service visit when they stated and documented that the charging system tests all passed & alternator is fine, and witnessed no a/c fan fluctuation. Thus no repairs done, and sent me on my way. As soon as I drove off the dealership lot on that [xxx] evening, the car lost power and went into limp mode as I accelerated out of the parking lot, and continued through 4 miles of local street traffic until I arrived home and shut off engine. After a few minutes I restarted engine so that I could video record same limp mode issue but the problem was not evident after this engine restart. This was the first episode ever experienced and it occurred at approximately 21,720 miles, and recurred again the following day after stalling from early clutch pedal release, followed by engine restart. The episodes happen on both flat surface and slight incline. The faulty alternator must have a part in this, as surging alternating current is causing sensor malfunctioning affecting a/c fan speed and ecu communication. Autozone alternator test on 4/19/25 revealed “charging system failure. ” information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

7 Other Fuel System problem of the 2024 Nissan Versa

Failure Date: 02/19/2025

It's happened three times now that the car will simply fail to accelerate no matter how much the pedal is pushed. It is extremely dangerous because this has happened on the freeway and caused us to pull over and wait for the car to become responsive again. This is an automatic transmission. There doesn't seem to be an active recall for this and I can't understand why as I see online a lot of people reporting the same issue. This is dangerous and unacceptable for a new car. It was bought new off the lot and has minimal mileage.

8 Other Fuel System problem of the 2024 Nissan Versa

Failure Date: 09/17/2024

Vehicle loses power, ability to accelerate and is unable reach a speed above 35-40 mph regardless of gear (manual transmission) or downshifting, requiring you to pull off road; has occurred four times now. After turning vehicle off and restarting, operation is normal. Nissan dealer checked and pulled up a code regarding coded keys and reprogrammed keys; could not replicate the power/acceleration issue. Problem still re-occurred. There are no warnings, warning lights or symptoms until you accelerate.

9 Other Fuel System problem of the 2024 Nissan Versa

Failure Date: 09/15/2024

This Versa was purchased brand new with 6 miles on it, delivered 8/16/2024. Strong odor of fuel inside cabin after city driving about 90 minutes in 100+ degree heat with a/c (on either recirculating or fresh air) in [xxx] . So overwhelming, causing burning eyes, throat, and nose forcing me to shut off engine. Predictably occurs when outside heat is over 100 deg f. This occurred within only 30 days of purchase at about 1300 miles, and so far occurred 4 times thus far total since purchase date to present. It took me a few weeks to fully understand the root cause until inspection under hood revealed fuel leakage around fuel injectors where inserted in intake manifold, and possibly fuel rail. Brought car in to Nissan dealer that sold me it and they said they smelled no odor (most likely because engine was cold and they only test drove briefly) and found no leaks. No due diligence or urgency on their part, and it was after their dismissive response that I encouraged sent the service advisor photos of the leaky fuel taken from days prior, in order to be taken seriously and have it fixed with some urgency under warranty, as this leaky fuel on hot manifold can combust or leak into cylinders. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

10 Other Fuel System problem of the 2024 Nissan Versa

Failure Date: 09/09/2024

My 2024 Nissan Versa 5 speed has gone into limp mode approximately 4 times in 6 months. When this happens you can’t accelerate which could be a great safety issue.

11 Other Fuel System problem of the 2022 Nissan Versa

Failure Date: 08/15/2024

If the vehicle stalls when starting or depressing the clutch too fast, the vehicle will sometimes enter a low power (limp mode), where the driver can floor the accelerator and the car will barely accelerate. The absolutely max speed when this happens seems to be around 55 and it takes 30 seconds to reach this speed. Turning the car off and letting it sit for 15 seconds, and then restarting the car seems to fix the problem. This has happened to me 3 times over the past 2 years.

12 Other Fuel System problem of the 2024 Nissan Versa

Failure Date: 08/03/2024

My 2024 Nissan Versa has acceleration problems. In less than 24 hours of having the car, when driving and without warning, the power of the vehicle began to decline while I was driving in traffic. It didn't matter how hard I pressed the acceleration the car would continue to power down. This caused cars to honk and swerve to avoid crashing in the back of me. It took many pumps to the accelerator to get the car to power to the speed of traffic again. The car also powers down to nothing intermittently if I am stopped at a red light on in rush hour traffic. Again, I am having to press the accelerator numerous times to get the car to work and with that, there is a jerking feel to it. Also within 24 hours, a service symbol appeared on the dash while driving and then went away within 30mins of driving. I took the vehicle back to the Nissan dealership I purchased it from and they claim they did not find anything wrong.

13 Other Fuel System problem of the 2024 Nissan Versa

Failure Date: 07/21/2024

Today (7/21/24), after shifting my manual 5 speed transmission into first gear it stalled. I restarted my car then proceeded to drive on the highway in a severely reduced power mode "limp mode". I could not reach highway speed and this created a very unsafe condition with tractor trailers behind me. The power loss only allowed speeds up to about 45 mph. Acceleration was very slow. I will contact my Nissan dealership in erie, PA tomorrow.

14 Other Fuel System problem of the 2016 Nissan Versa

Failure Date: 05/03/2024

"leaking injectors causing cylinder wall wash, resulting in low compression. " per Nissan of chattanooga east. Stated they have seen this before and can be a "common" malfunction. Puts others and self at risk of catastrophic engine malfunction and fuel injector malfunction. Car fire, an engine explosion, or simply breaking down in the middle of the interstate, "repair" occurred and sent home, 2 times. Subsequent followup revealed critical malfunction and requirement to replace engine and necessary components.

15 Other Fuel System problem of the 2021 Nissan Versa

Failure Date: 05/01/2024

Driving down the road, the car enters a phase where you can not accelerate at all. It seems like the fuel injectors are cut off by 90% and you can only accelerate to about 35 mph. It stalls often and feels as if it's struggling to switch gears. It only has 68k miles on it with regular maintenance being done. It is too new to have these problems.

16 Other Fuel System problem of the 2024 Nissan Versa

Failure Date: 04/24/2024

The car went into limp home mode after it stalled. This is unsafe if I can't get up to speed on the highways because it puts me at risk of getting hit by other cars. I contacted the dealer about this, but they have not provided a fix yet. There were no warning lights, there was just reduced power. The only way to resume getting full power was to pull of the road to restart the engine.

17 Other Fuel System problem of the 2023 Nissan Versa

Failure Date: 04/18/2024

Total loss of power. No engine codes stored. Car has very little power you have to floor the gas pedal but still run ok no misses or backfires. Will take forever to get to 40 mph. That is revving motor before shifting manual transmission. Taken to Nissan dealer once no fix. This has happened about 8 times to this car. Dealer had for one week still could not fix it. Could get run over with this issue….

18 Other Fuel System problem of the 2024 Nissan Versa

Failure Date: 04/01/2024

On multiple occasions, the vehicle will randomly stall while in motion. Most recently, this occurred while I was on the on/off ramp of one major highway merging onto another highway; in the process of down shifting from fifth gear to third gear, the car stalled, while in motion, causing a complete loss in power steering and braking. I was able to restart the vehicle without incident, however, had I needed to suddenly maneuver or brake I would have been unsuccessful in either of these actions. This has happened more than once, there appears to be no rhyme or reason to this happening, which makes the situation far more variable as there is no way to anticipate or predict its occurrence. On one of these occasions, upon restarting of the vehicle there was a marked decrease in power output from the engine. This made accelerating to driving speeds take far longer than usual, which was an interesting situation as I was pulling into traffic when this occurred. This issue persisted for quite some time, in fact it took the restarting of the engine several times, including a few failed starts, before the proper power returned to the engine.

19 Other Fuel System problem of the 2023 Nissan Versa

Failure Date: 12/23/2023

This vehicle is a manual transmission model. If the engine is stalled on takeoff and has to be restarted it enters a low power condition where acceleration is severely reduced. The power loss is bad enough to make it impossible to keep up with traffic. Even maintaining speed while climbing hills is difficult. This is dangerous because moving much more slowly than surrounding traffic makes this car a collision risk. The low power condition continues until the vehicle is turned off and the key is removed. The mil light has come on and the dtc is p2615. We have scheduled to take the vehicle for service tomorrow, but it hasn't been seen by a technician yet.

20 Other Fuel System problem of the 2024 Nissan Versa

Failure Date: 12/22/2023

I am uncertain exactly which vehicle component is causing the issue, but my headlights dim very low and the heat decreases while driving and when I accelerate both the headlights brighten and the heater returns to full blast. Nissan has categorized this as a "normal characteristic" of the vehicle after comparing it with to other exact models, which is the new 2024 Nissan Versa manual s. They refuse to fix the headlights safety issue, even after I was able to show the tech by duplicating the problem a few times.

21 Other Fuel System problem of the 2021 Nissan Versa

Failure Date: 10/19/2023

First the furl gage reads the wrong amount I filled up and the gauge never changed. The radio which is a known problem cuts in and out or just stops working.

22 Other Fuel System problem of the 2022 Nissan Versa

Failure Date: 10/13/2023

I've owned this car less than a month and this has happened to me twice. I start to drive the car and experience a severe loss of power. The accelerator is pushed to the floor and the car barely moves. This happened when I was attempting to pass another vehicle. Could have had disastrous consequences. No indication on the dashboard that anything is wrong. If this happened while trying to merge onto a highway the results could be catastrophic.

23 Other Fuel System problem of the 2023 Nissan Versa

Failure Date: 09/14/2023

My 2023 Nissan Versa s5mt has a reoccurring issue where under a stall condition the car will occasionally loose all power on a restart. This happened once in traffic. I got to a red light and fumbled the clutch pedal and stalled in stopped traffic. I went to get in front of a semi that was moving faster then me and if I didn't realize what happened I may have cut him off and gotten t-boned. In a 2500lb car like the Versa, that could have killed me. I have taken the vehicle to the dealership and they failed to replicate the issue. There were no symptoms or warnings prior to the failure. Many others have claimed this issue exists with their 2023 Nissan Versas and also claimed the dealership could not fix theirs.

24 Other Fuel System problem of the 2023 Nissan Versa

Failure Date: 07/15/2023

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? I would like to add my experience to others that are currently being investigated under NHTSA investigation pe24007. I have the same experience with my Versa - after the vehicle stalls, it is significantly under-powered and even with the throttle completely open in third gear, will not accelerate over about 40 mph. This is re-creatable and we will make the car available for inspection. In addition, when we first drove the car home from the dealership (the first time at sustained highway speeds), there was a thumping noise from the front passenger wheel well. After multiple trips to the dealership, Nissan replaced the manual transmission under warranty. This has resolved the thumping, but indicates issues with the construction quality of these cars. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? the car does not go over 40 mph. This is dangerous in any driving situation that is not a neighborhood road or road with a speed limit of over 40 mph. Others have called this state "limp mode", but I can't see a reason for it. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? yes. The tech that replaced the transmission agreed that the car is low on power after a stall. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? yes, dealer representatives. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? no. The car throws an odb2 code, but no warning lights appear on the dashboard. This issue has been ongoing since we bought the car in July 2023.

25 Other Fuel System problem of the 2014 Nissan Versa

Failure Date: 06/02/2023

The first incident, my car shut off as I was driving down the road. I had to put it in park in the middle of the road, start the car, and floor it to get there car to go. The second incident was after I took it in to Nissan. They said it was fixed, and two days after I picked it up, the car shut off on me as I was leaving a gas station, and the check engine light is back on.

26 Other Fuel System problem of the 2016 Nissan Versa

Failure Date: 06/01/2023

Fuel gauge is always stuck to full. I have to rely on the gas pump to know that I have full tank of gas. Luckily I only drive it for short distances. It will not be safe to drive interstate.

27 Other Fuel System problem of the 2010 Nissan Versa

Failure Date: 12/26/2022

Fuel pump failed with no notice while traveling on the interstate causing the engine to stop running. I was lucky that I was able to coast off the highway on to the shoulder. This occurred at night on a section of I-10 with a 75 mph speed limit. If I had not been able to limp off the highway it would have been very dangerous. My Nissan Versa only has 75,000 miles and is well maintained. No warning lights or obd codes were present before or after the failure. Replacing the fuel pump assembly fixed the problem.

28 Other Fuel System problem of the 2018 Nissan Versa

Failure Date: 12/25/2021

1) when at red light with car in drive and brake pedal pressed the car occasionally begins to roll forward and then the brakes suddenly depress even more. 2) all brake lights intermittently go out and if hit will come back on for an unknown time until u realize they're not working again. 3) I have already had to replace the fuel pump twice with only 60k on miles on the car.

29 Other Fuel System problem of the 2012 Nissan Versa

Failure Date: 08/06/2021

Vehicle is moving in forward direction always even if the gear shift is in park or reverse mode. It is scary. It put us lot of stress in terms of physical health, mental health and finance. We nearly met with an accident as vehicle was moving always in forward direction as soon as we moved the car from the parking lot. We towed the vehicle considering our and public safety. Contacted Nissan dealership and consumer affairs team. They went only by the books. Told that there is no recall. They did not seem to care about the safety. They asked me to go ahead and shell out for fixing. The same vehicle stopped in the middle of the road with heavy jerk/forward movement. We were lucky that we did not meet with an accident. We had to tow the vehicle in that case. I had to replace fuel pump at my own cost. With multiple safety concerns on this vehicle, I am surprised that there is no recall on this model. At the least, I was expecting this for my VIN. Request you to help on the recall considering the public safety. With vehicle few thousand dollars worth still, I may need to review and make a choice on disposing this vehicle (not sell) by taking the financial hit. Financial hit in this uncertain situation means a lot to me. It puts pressure. Since I care about public safety, I am reviewing this as the last choice. Nissan does not seem to be worried as there is no recall. Correct option is to have this vehicle recalled. Request you to review and help from safety perspective.

30 Other Fuel System problem of the 2020 Nissan Versa

Failure Date: 06/23/2021

The gas tank is no longer going up to the standard amount of 210 like when I initially bought it last week. It is now at 171 miles maximum with a full tank of gas.

31 Other Fuel System problem of the 2013 Nissan Versa

Failure Date: 06/02/2021

The car surges, jerks, increases in rpm's, stalls. This has been happening on & off for quite sometime, but recently has become more frequent.

32 Other Fuel System problem of the 2012 Nissan Versa

Failure Date: 03/02/2021

When filling vehicle up with gas it starts pouring out under the vehicle and when driving it when I turned around a curb gas poured all over the road.

33 Other Fuel System problem of the 2010 Nissan Versa

Failure Date: 02/24/2021

I have a 2010 Nissan Versa I was told at my calendar converter is not legal in California and I cannot pay to get it repaired they sold me a car with illegal parts in California.

34 Other Fuel System problem of the 2020 Nissan Versa

Failure Date: 02/12/2021

The vehicle was stationary, it will not start, it will not turn on. None of my lights have been left on, nothing has been plugged in. The first time I had it jumped it started and turned on. The belt was making a high pitched squealing noise. After it was initially jumped and after it was on & drove around & put back in park and turned back off. It no longer would start. I have tried to have it jumped again & it would not jump. I am concerned with the engine and fuel system. When I've tried to turn it on and it wouldn't it made sort of like a gargling noise after I had hit the start button as well as the gauges coming very slightly & shaking.

35 Other Fuel System problem of the 2012 Nissan Versa

Failure Date: 01/08/2021

I’ve had problems with this car from day one. All manor like ac and heater going out that’s ok. All issues I can deal with in time. But now this can’t handle I’ve had to actually stop driving my vehicle. The check engine light starts to flash then the car doesn’t want to shift feeping like your about to blow up the car if you go over 20mph. Transmission start to jerk and supper like your not get fuel or something. It’s been missing up so bad not to mention it’s freakin scary and you terrified you’ve got to pull it over. Turn off the car try again. I’ve had to leave my vehicle at random places multiple times too scared to drive it home. Now I tried to finally look at the problem to see what it might be happening cus nobody else seems to know what the issue is. And I see there several people with the same issue on the 2012 Nissan Versa.
