37 Power Train problem of the 2024 Nissan Versa

Failure Date: 08/10/2024

Problem description: loss of acceleration in 5-speed manual s trim model. It seems that almost every time you stall this car, it will enter a "limp mode" or something like that, where your rpms are capped for the rest of the drive, until you turn off the car and fully restart it. In this mode, even in 1st gear, you can go (from a stop) about 5 mph tops, if there is any incline. I am a new standard transmission driver, so stalling is at the moment not rare. This means my car enters this dangerous state often. 1. I am unsure what exact component(s) failed, or even if this is a fail rather than some intentional "safe" mode. 2. Because I live in the hill country, acceleration from a stop is almost nothing in this "limp" mode, which put me in a very dangerous situation. It caused me to crawl through an oncoming traffic lane as I was turning left into a turn lane, since I did not realize this mode had been activated. Had I been shooting a gap in traffic, I would have likely been hit at 70+ mph. 3. Not as of yet, but online research suggests this is not a new issue. 4. No. 5. No. This is a brand new car, and this limp state is not indicated by anything other than extreme loss of power until you reset the car.

38 Power Train problem of the 2024 Nissan Versa

Failure Date: 08/08/2024

Vehicle has 3000 miles on it - driving across country . Was driving on to on ramp to highway when vehicle stopped execeleraring. Would rev and rev. We were headed straight into a merge onto the highway and I told my husband to get off immediately. . We slowly got off the road to the side and kept trying . It would not go very fast but kept reving. We turned on and off . No warning lights on dash . Nothing . Tried again nothing called my son who works at a car dealership told us to turn off then remove key - did that and was able to get car to go back to normal. - we researched and transmission slipping is exactly what is described as what was happening. We are in a very dangerous situation . In the middle of nowhere 1000 miles from home. Bought this for my 16 year old son as a reliable car. . I can’t let him drive this thing. Had we made it on the highway and this happened a minute later . Or my son driving on the highway. This is unacceptable. Reading all the complaints and how long this has been an issue is sickening that I was able to purchase this car.

39 Power Train problem of the 2022 Nissan Versa

Failure Date: 08/01/2024

My 2022 Nissan Versa manual transmission: there have been times after starting the vehicle or after the vehicle has stalled and been restarted where the engine goes into a limp mode. That is, pressing on the accelerator will increase rpms on the engine but there is very little torque generated to move the vehicle. This has created a risk of accident when trying to accelerate for a merge or other time sensitive maneuver. I took the vehicle to the dealer and found that the clutch was burned out. This was after 42k miles. The vehicle has a hill assist that will prevent the vehicle from rolling backwards when you take your foot off the break and before you engage the transmission. I believe the limp mode is tide to this problem. I later discovered that if you turn off the car and take the key out of the ignition, upon restart the problem goes away. This leads me to believe that it is a computer problem and the restart of the vehicle reboots the computer and corrects the problem. I asked the dealership about it and they said they were not aware of any recalls (which was not what I asked). There were no warning lamps or messages from the vehicle. The vehicle is available for inspection however, I do need to get it fixed so if NHTSA wants to look at it please let me know as soon as possible.

41 Power Train problem of the 2024 Nissan Versa

Failure Date: 07/21/2024

Today (7/21/24), after shifting my manual 5 speed transmission into first gear it stalled. I restarted my car then proceeded to drive on the highway in a severely reduced power mode "limp mode". I could not reach highway speed and this created a very unsafe condition with tractor trailers behind me. The power loss only allowed speeds up to about 45 mph. Acceleration was very slow. I will contact my Nissan dealership in erie, PA tomorrow.

42 Power Train problem of the 2023 Nissan Versa

Failure Date: 07/11/2024

While driving on city streets the check engine light came on and I was unable to accelerate or maintain speeds above 30mph. Because the car couldn’t operate at posted speed limits, other vehicles were stuck behind me or had to go around. It was also slow to start at traffic signals. I will be taking the vehicle to the dealer shortly for further diagnosis.

43 Power Train problem of the 2024 Nissan Versa

Failure Date: 07/08/2024

2024 Nissan Versa model s manual, 4700 miles. 2 times I stalled engine while entering on ramp to freeway. Restarted engine, engine then went into limp mode. Top speed about 20 miles per hour. I then drove to side of freeway turn engine off and then restarted engine and it corrected problem. Took vehicle to Nissan dealership wasn't aware the problem and unable to reproduce complaint.

44 Power Train problem of the 2023 Nissan Versa

Failure Date: 07/05/2024

I was taking my 23 Versa m/t to the dealer for its 10. 000 mile service and upon driving the vehicle while pulling away from a stop sign I stall the vehicle and after that there was a significant loss of power, restarting the engine did not help. When I got to the dealership I did not shut the engine off and told them about the issue and said it was a safety issue and did not have the power to get out of the way in a emergencysituation. Unfortunately they claimed they could not duplicate the issue and requested to hold the vehicle for further investigation. Before the vehicle le was stalled there were no warning lamps or check engine lights or any symptoms prior nor any warning lamps on the wa to the dealership while the issue consisted. This problem has happened twice before while my wife was on the way to work and after her shift the vehicle preformed normal.

45 Power Train problem of the 2024 Nissan Versa

Failure Date: 06/04/2024

Lack of power in my manual 1 ,2 and 3 gears.

46 Power Train problem of the 2023 Nissan Versa

Failure Date: 06/04/2024

When starting my car it started for a second and stalled and when I restarted the car the car started accelerating extremely slow and wouldnt go past 20 mph.

47 Power Train problem of the 2024 Nissan Versa

Failure Date: 05/30/2024

This morning after a "cold start" to drive to work, I entered a primary road that takes me to the interstate. I noticed throttle input seemed "delayed". Once on the interstate while attempting to merge, the car had zero power. Full throttle in third, fourth and fifth gear allowed only 60mph. I drove about two miles to the next exit and made my way back home on secondary roads to my house. Once home, I scanned for dtc's with my scan tool. A p2615 was received, "cam position signal output circuit low" I cleared the code, started back on my drive to work, car performed as expected with no power loss. This is about a 40 mile drive. I have seen complaints of "power loss" after a stall. My cars symptom was after a cold start and no stall.

48 Power Train problem of the 2024 Nissan Versa

Failure Date: 05/18/2024

P2615 code: lost of power. Car barely goes up hill on first gear with gas pedal all the way pressed. Won't go faster than 40 on flat road.

49 Power Train problem of the 2024 Nissan Versa

Failure Date: 05/01/2024

I purchased a 2024 Nissan Versa s 5 speed approx. Two months ago. Upon driving the first week, the engine would rev high in between shifting (not rev hang) and made the vehicle almost impossible to drive smooth. I have been driving manuals for 34 years. I planned on taking the car to the dealer to check when I had time. Then by week two to four, a rattle developed under the shifter adn center console. Lastly, the car went into limp mode for no reason and with no check engine light. I turned the car off and on again. The problem went away. I took the vehicle to the dealer 2. 5 weeks ago and haven't seen the car since. The head mechanic said the problem was a cam sensor and every time he fixed the problem, the car would do the same thing every morning. He also said Nissan was aware of this problem with the manual Versa, and the fix is to "wait". I since discovered I am not the only one and how dangerous this glitch it. Imagine trying to exit on the highway only to go into limp mode. I am scared to drive this car and will not put my family in this car now. I don't even have 3k on the odometer. They also can't find the cause of the loud rattling sound either.

50 Power Train problem of the 2024 Nissan Versa

Failure Date: 04/24/2024

The car went into limp home mode after it stalled. This is unsafe if I can't get up to speed on the highways because it puts me at risk of getting hit by other cars. I contacted the dealer about this, but they have not provided a fix yet. There were no warning lights, there was just reduced power. The only way to resume getting full power was to pull of the road to restart the engine.

51 Power Train problem of the 2024 Nissan Versa

Failure Date: 04/15/2024

Loss of power and unable to accelerate to speed once car stalls while in gear (manual).

52 Power Train problem of the 2016 Nissan Versa

53 Power Train problem of the 2024 Nissan Versa

Failure Date: 04/12/2024

I stalled the vehicle then noticed a little later that my acceleration was greatly reduced. I could not get up to 20 mph with my accelerator pedal all the way pressed while in 3rd gear.

54 Power Train problem of the 2024 Nissan Versa

Failure Date: 04/08/2024

Reduced power after engine stall.

55 Power Train problem of the 2024 Nissan Versa

Failure Date: 04/01/2024

On multiple occasions, the vehicle will randomly stall while in motion. Most recently, this occurred while I was on the on/off ramp of one major highway merging onto another highway; in the process of down shifting from fifth gear to third gear, the car stalled, while in motion, causing a complete loss in power steering and braking. I was able to restart the vehicle without incident, however, had I needed to suddenly maneuver or brake I would have been unsuccessful in either of these actions. This has happened more than once, there appears to be no rhyme or reason to this happening, which makes the situation far more variable as there is no way to anticipate or predict its occurrence. On one of these occasions, upon restarting of the vehicle there was a marked decrease in power output from the engine. This made accelerating to driving speeds take far longer than usual, which was an interesting situation as I was pulling into traffic when this occurred. This issue persisted for quite some time, in fact it took the restarting of the engine several times, including a few failed starts, before the proper power returned to the engine.

56 Power Train problem of the 2024 Nissan Versa

Failure Date: 03/25/2024

The car is not safe to drive. The car enters limp mode, restricting the acceleration and rpms of the vehicle. Driving on the highway in speed zones of 50-65 mph puts the driver and other motorists at risk because the car cannot accelerate normally. Driving on back roads in speed zones <50 puts the driver and other motorists at risk because the car lacks the power and speed to climb hills. There are also many blind curves on the back roads, adding another hazard. There is no indication that the car has entered limp mode--no warning lights or messages. The only way to know that you're in limp mode is to experience the symptoms. This mode cannot be reliably entered in any single way. The stalling of the engine seems to be related; however, the car does not enter limp mode after every stall and limp mode isn't always entered after a stall. I have experienced the mode on the highway and on back roads. The onset of the mode has happened from initial start up and while driving. Acceleration and the ability to climb hills is impeded whenever this mode is engaged. 3 out of 4 times that I experienced the car entering this mode were preceded by a stall. One of the stalls occurred when the backup sensor mistakenly detected an object and the car automatically braked. The other two stalls occurred after the clutch had already been released. 2 out of the 4 times that I experienced the car entering this mode, the car had driven for 20+ miles before entering limp mode, including at highway speeds. The 1 instance that was not preceded by a stall, the car could not accelerate to highway speed and could not climb hills in any gear but 1st gear. The car stayed in this mode the first restart and only exited the mode after 15 minutes before restart. The last instance was 3/25/24. The Nissan service center where I brought the car to was able to replicate the issue by stalling the car in 3rd gear. The same service center entered the claim to Nissan on March 26, 2024.

57 Power Train problem of the 2024 Nissan Versa

Failure Date: 03/12/2024

Vehicle felt underpowered and wouldn’t accelerate only would rev up. Problem went away after turning vehicle off and letting it sit for a bit. Shouldn’t be happening on a 2024 vehicle I got with 0 miles.

58 Power Train problem of the 2013 Nissan Versa

Failure Date: 03/09/2024

Speed control, engine and transmission issues: after the recall from the manufacture was issued for the the acceleration problems this car still takes long to accelerate and get the car going. It feels like the transmission/ and or engine is ready to go out also and this car is only roughly at 80,000 miles. This car is well maintained.

59 Power Train problem of the 2013 Nissan Versa

Failure Date: 03/04/2024

The contact owns a 2013 Nissan Versa. The contact stated that while accelerating from a stop, the vehicle stalled. There was no warning light illuminated. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000. The VIN was not available.

60 Power Train problem of the 2022 Nissan Versa

Failure Date: 03/01/2024

In 2023 from time to time if we accidnetly stalled out, the car went in to limp mode after we restarted it. We learned that if we took the key out and waited a couple minutes it would drive normally again. That change on 3/1/2024 when I was in downtown atlanta and it would not get out of limp mode for a long time. It was very scary and I had kids in the car with me. I was able to get it to the dealership that day but they said it was fine and insisted I had been in the wrong gear. I knew this was not the case so when it happened again 4/26/24 I took a video of it in limp mode and took it to mike rezi Nissan the next day. They said they could find nothing wrong with it and told me we’d hear from someone but we are still waiting. I discovered you have an investigation pe24007 open on this and would like to add us to the claim.

61 Power Train problem of the 2023 Nissan Versa

Failure Date: 03/01/2024

As I was turning my car back on after I stalled, I noticed that it felt very sluggish. As I was approaching the highway I was unable to accelerate to match the speed of the other cars. It was a very dangerous situation. My car has under 5000kms. There were no lights on the dash that warned me this was going to happen.

62 Power Train problem of the 2024 Nissan Versa

Failure Date: 02/28/2024

I bought my car on February 12th and it is now February 28th. The car has basically lost all power 3 times now, after I stalled the car 3 times. This is very dangerous as if I’m in a lot of traffic and going too slow, that can cause accidents.

63 Power Train problem of the 2023 Nissan Versa

Failure Date: 02/28/2024

After stalling my 5-speed manual Versa at an intersection, I experienced loss of power. I was unable to accelerate at normal speeds. I had to pull over and turn off the vehicle in order to reset the computer. Safety was a concern when other vehicles were able to drive at normal speeds and pulling over was a bit of a challenge. Problem has not been reported to dealer but will once I take it in for service. No warning lamps, messages or other symptoms prior to the incident.

64 Power Train problem of the 2024 Nissan Versa

Failure Date: 02/17/2024

Power loss p2615.

69 Power Train problem of the 2024 Nissan Versa

Failure Date: 10/26/2023

This vehicle came with a 5-speed manual transmission. I am still learning how to drive a stick shift well, and on my way home from the dealer there were several instances of me stalling the engine due to letting the clutch out too fast. In several of these cases, when I restarted the engine, it acted almost as if it were in limp mode, or if the clutch was slipping badly.

70 Power Train problem of the 2015 Nissan Versa
