6 Steering Column problem of the 2014 Nissan Versa

Failure Date: 02/03/2016

Vibrations felt through the steering column, seats and floor, whenever car is in gear and stopped at a light or idle. Vibration gets worse when ac or defrost is turned on. It goes away when I put the car in neutral. However car takes some time to move when shifting back to drive, and this can cause someone to hit you from behind. Taken to the dealer 3 times. I was told that this vibration is completely normal and there is nothing that can be done. Very disapointed to say the least.

7 Steering Column problem of the 2013 Nissan Versa

Failure Date: 11/12/2015

Suspension: both sides front struts mounts and right side lower control arm, also called ball-joints are defective in just 3 years, right after the 36 months manufacture warranty expired. This is causing the car to bounce at moderate speed and more dangerously so on the highways. The vehicle would wander right to left uncontrollably. Steering u-joint defects: there is an ongoing noise while vehicle is driven and the steering column is shaking up unnecessarily and excessively.

8 Steering Column problem of the 2009 Nissan Versa

Failure Date: 05/21/2015

My Nissan Versa has had an ongoing problem with the steering column. In 2011, while the vehicle was still under warranty, I complained about a popping sound in the front suspension of the car accompanied by a shifting sensation felt in the steering wheel. After checking the car over several times, the dealer discovered a problem with the steering shaft and replaced it. Two years later, the problem resurfaced and has gotten much worse over time. Now, my dealer is telling me I need to replace the steering shaft again - but I have to pay this time. I've not yet hit 70,000 miles and need a third steering shaft? sounds like a parts or design problem to me! Nissan should replace it.

9 Steering Column problem of the 2007 Nissan Versa

Failure Date: 06/15/2013

Popping noise heard in suspension and felt in steering column during left and right turns at slow speeds. Per Nissan dealership its because of a defective upper strut bearing, per the TSB's and complaints listed it could range from a number of issues including the intermediate shaft and linkage. The suspension on this vehicle has some serious issues that need to be addressed.

11 Steering Column problem of the 2009 Nissan Versa

The steering column clicks and shifts when making sharp turns, especially getting on and off highway ramps. The steer column often times feel like it could twist off while driving. 13 Steering Column problem of the 2008 Nissan Versa

Failure Date: 05/03/2010

Steering wheel has a clunking feel and makes a clunking noise when the wheel is turns sharply to the left or right when stopped or at low speeds. I have mentioned this twice when I took the car to the dealers for oil changes and was told "that is just the way ste steering column feels".

14 Steering Column problem of the 2008 Nissan Versa

Failure Date: 09/04/2009

The steering wheel has a clunk or pop that is both audible and felt in the wheel when making turns to the right at low speeds. At 10,000 miles I began hearing and feeling this clunk. At 18,000 miles I brought my vehicle to the dealer and they said they would have to replace the entire steering column and that it was a safety concern. The stopped the sound and the pop/clunk. 1000 miles later the sound started reappearing. I brought my vehicle to the dealer 5 times since and the dealer claims to not be able to hear the sound. I am aware of two technical service bulletins on this issue. I believe the part is systemic defective and unsafe. I believe this needs to be researched as a defect and requires a recall.

15 Steering Column problem of the 2009 Nissan Versa

Failure Date: 08/01/2008

Within weeks of my purchase of a 2009 Nissan Versa sl, I noticed, when making right or left turns at slow speeds (5-10 mph), especially going over a bump and when the steering wheel is turned 1- 1 1/2 times (as in going into a driveway) I experience loud clunking and vibrations in wheel, and it can be easily heard coming from the steering column. The clunk is always there at 1 to 1 1/4 turn from the full clockwise stop. I have taken it in the dealership for this problem at least 5 times; they have been unable to fix the problem. Several times, the service writer said he couldn't hear or feel the 'clunk' but the mechanic said he could. The Versa does move around quite a bit at high speeds on the freeway, but I am unsure if that is caused by the above described problem or the light weight of the Versa. The sound and feel of this 'clunk' is very disconcerting, and given the number of complaints I've seen for 3 years about this problem, I'm wondering if the government/automaker are waiting for someone to die before they act.

16 Steering Column problem of the 2007 Nissan Versa

Failure Date: 04/01/2007

The contact owns a 2007 Nissan Versa. The contact stated that while turning the steering wheel it made a clunking noise that sounded as metal rubbing against metal. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer who diagnose that the steering column needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 2 and the current mileage was 61,511.

17 Steering Column problem of the 2007 Nissan Versa

Failure Date: 02/04/2007

A clip broke on a universal joint on my wife's 2007 Nissan Versa. Grenada Nissan of grenada< ms said that it was a retainer clip, and that the entire steering column had to be replaced. . . This was in February, with little more than 800 miles on the vehicle. In November, the clip broke once again. My wife took the vehicle to cannon Nissan in greenwood ms, where they told her that it was a "manufacturer's" clip, that was supposed to break off! now, one dealership is telling us that a bolt will back off without this clip, while the other dealership is saying that this clip is not needed!.
