My SUV was on a highway, and 4wd indicator light came on and vehicle made a vibrating noise, pulled off and turned vehicle off and would not restart, the SUV was towed to the Nissan dealership for diagnostic test. Results: the codes u1000, p1807 and p0717 (transmission) cost $4, 491,58. In April 2016, I had a leak from the radiator that ruined the transmission. I initially had the radiator replaced and the transmission flushed, cost $1000 at Nissan dealership. This was only a band-aid however, and did not fix the problem. 6 months later transmission failed. Nissan put the consumer under the bus. I filed a complaint with Nissan consumer affairs case# 24403641 with no assistant, due to the mileage of 100k exceeds warranty. Nissan was aware of this default in radiators back in 2007 and did not notify a recall to the consumer. A cross contamination where coolant leaks into the transmission and destroys the transmission. I will never buy another Nissan product, due to this ordeal and very difficult situation. I've always maintained my SUV on all required maintenance. Nissan corporation needs to assist the consumer, and the extended warranty and deductible was a joke. There has been over 2500 consumers affected by this issue. Nissan continues to sell their products and I would highly advise consumers to stop buying Nissan, not a trustworthy company period. Regards, timothy lane breeding.

Vehicle vibrates at 40 mph- making it unsafe - turns out it's transmission issue. . Was informed this is not a new issue after reading online . . . . . Nissan has never recalled these vehicles and instead was sued due to this transmission issue many other Nissans have had. . . I was never informed regarding such an issue. This is unsafe due to the shaking shudder this problem causes especially in a high traffic area and it isn't fsir that the customer stays stuck with a faulty vehicle . . . This issue should be fixed at any mileage since it is Nissans faulty design at fault! shame on you Nissan.
At 60mph and also 40mph the vehicle vibrates heavily and is slow to react to power inputs with no warning signs prior. This was determined to be caused by the known defect related to the radiator / heat exchanger, where the engine coolant mixes with the transmission fluid and gets into the transmission. This then turns into a "pink milkshake" consistency fluid and completely ruins the entire transmission and valve assembly. This requires a complete rebuild or replacement of the transmission and radiator to correct the issue. There is no warning sign and this affects these vehicles at different rates. This can cause cars to seize up unexpectedly in the middle of driving creating a dangerous situation. Since this is a known issue for Nissan trucks model year 2005 - 2010 this should be a safety recall. It is not a matter of if this will happen, it is a matter of when. In my personal situation I had no injury or immediate car shutdown, however I would have no warning if that did occur and has the potential to be dangerous, especially at highway speeds. This has to be investigated and is uncalled for to have a known defect and not disclose this to owners of these vehicles. Additionally, there is a perfectly good way to mitigate this issue by adding a dedicated cooler for the transmission and bypass the radiator, which is a cheap and easy fix to never have this issue.
Vehicle has been shuddering at around 50mph. Approx 2 weeks ago, it wouldn't shift, so I couldn't drive faster than 25-30 mph. I had the oil changed and transmission flushed, and it seemed ok, although it was still doing the shuddering. Yesterday I noticed a strange puddle on the garage floor, so I checked it out. There is a leak that is causing coolant to leak into the transmission. I began doing some research on the internet and found that this is apparently a fairly common problem in 2005-2010 Nissans. I never received any notice of the warranty extension. When I called the local Nissan dealer, the service guy knew exactly what I was talking about when I described the problem, and estimated that to repair would be $4000-5000.
Coolant mixes with transmission fluid and causes car to shudder and fail. This causes a situation in traffic that could cause a crash.

After my vehicle was making shuddering noises between 40 and 50 mph I decided to bring it to the nearest dealership to be checked. I was told the radiator leaked coolant into the transmission. I was also told this has been an issue for Nissan so they would cover part of the repair and I would be responsible for $2500 of the repair since I was 1300 miles over the limit. I was notifies the radiator and transmission needed to be replaced. I told the service representative I did not have the money at my disposal and asked if there was anything I could do. I was told when I get the money to call and they will repair it, but to also hurry because the transmission could lock up anytime and cause a major accident. I was shocked they would even let me leave the dealership. I immediately called Nissan customer affairs and explained my situation. They told me I was they would not be able to assist me in any way and suggested the same as the dealership, to quickly get it repaired because I can cause a major accident. I was appalled they would allow their customers be in danger and endanger other drivers on the roads especially when Nissan admits to this being a quality issue that a majority of their consumers are having.
I was driving down the street at approximately 45 mph. The vehicle began to vibrate horribly. The electrical component that informed me whether I have the vehicle on drive turned off. The check engine light came on. The car began to decelerate. I was having problems getting the vehicle to accelerate. Eventually the vehicle turned off. I took the vehicle to the mechanic who informed me that coolant has entered the transmission and ruined it. Now the vehicle will not start because the coolant shorted the vehicle.
My Nissan which I loved originally when I purchased it brand new has been nothing but problems and I have maintained it and serviced it faithfully. I had taken my truck for service twice prior to this incident for regular maintenance and nothing was detected as far as the radiator cracking. This is what causes the transmission to go. The first time I went for service it was still under warranty nothing was said. The second time at 80588 another service was done basic oil change and tire rotation supposedly everything checked out fine each time a multi point inspections was done. I imagine this includes placing the vehicle on the diagnostic computerized machine. Well, shortly after this is when my major problems began. My vehicle began to vibrate as if I was on the highway riding on the shoulder were the warning strips with the grids vibrates your car when you go over onto them. I related the vibration to the recent tire rotation I checked the tires made sure nuts were tight and nothing was off; everything checked out fine. The awkward vibration continued so I scheduled an appointment with my local Nissan dealer and that?s when I got the devastating news a whopping $7371. 00 in repairs for a cracked radiator and damaged transmission. There were no warning signs what so ever no engine light, no overheating, and no smell of antifreeze. Nissan is fully aware of the problem and so are the dealers. Nothing was said to me with prior visits and they quickly knew what the problem was and were certain of the problem. These dealers are definitely aware and making money off innocent consumers for these unjust out of pocket repairs. Where is the justice in all of this?.
