Oil is getting into the radiator and causing a gray gunk build up in radiator and possibly the engine. I have had the car less than a 1 1/2 years and I've already had to have the same issue fixed 3 × first time. The heater hose blew out caused an air bubble in the radiator which caused us to have to burp the radiator which is when we found it the first time had sent it to the mechanic. Had it flushed, had it fixed. It was fine or so we thought until about a month ago. Car overheats radiator fluid spews out everywhere. Fix the hose, add radiator fluid and start. The burping process again and out comes the gray gunk. Sent it back to mechanic had it flush had gaskets to the transmission cooler and oil cooler fixed. Mechanic cannot find how it's getting into radiator. Break pads wear prematurely due to calipers constantly sticking. Rust is everywhere on frame, suspension, shocks undercarriage and body. Vdc/slip light will come on while driving causing the car to stall at any speed. Fixed those sensors 2 times since I bought the car in December 2023 from a used car lot. State I I've in has no laws to protect people buying from used car lots but they do for new cars even though new cars come with warranties. Should be the other way around protect the people who can't afford the 30000 dollar cars. There's a reason we go to used car lots. Paid 4500 after taxes and registration and have put almost 5000 into it. Nissan is aware of the problem just not enough to deem a recall.
The transmission cooler inside the radiator faulted, causing radiator fluid getting into the transmission damaging the transmission internally.
Red color in radiator (see photo) . When driving transmission would race like in overdrive. Let off gas to like catch up.
All the sudden my Xterra would not accelerate and shut down. Towed to garage to find out collect leaked with oil and damaged transmission and radiator. Called dealership who provided no help and quote for $5800.
The radiator had failed and allowed radiator fluid to mix with transmission fluid. This ruined the transmission which will cost thousands of dollars. We always took care of our SUV so we should not have to be dealing with these problems. We currently cannot afford the repairs so we will have an SUV parked and that we cannot drive. We had to pull over in the middle of the highway due to the vehicle's extremely hot temperature.
I was driving down a busy city street when the transmission stopped shifting. The speed of the car decreased and left me right in the middle of the street. I than had it towed to a Nissan dealership and said it has been cross contaminated with the radiator and will be a $4,800. 00 fix.
Transmission/ coolant leak vehicle parked and started to drive less than 10 mph , vehicle failed had to be towed to repair shop.
Stop and filled it up with gas starter down the road an check engin came on stop and turn it off now tthe motor wont turn the transmission was working perfeict the codes c1163 sent it to ted russell Nissan they tell me its the transmission is bad no pink water in the radiator cost 5000 dollars to fix why cant a bunch of people thats having the problem sue Nissan I was driving down the road.
I was driving down the highway and all the sudden the SUV started loosing speed until it came to a completely stop in the middle lane of the baltimore beltway 695 which made a dangerous situation for me. Cars flying by on both sides of me. Had a police officer stop traffic so that I could drift it backwards down the hill to get it to the side of the highway. Found out it was the ddefaulty radiator/transmission that Nissan knew about. It didn't give me any notice that it was anything wrong. Except leaving me stranded on the highway. It costs me thousands to get a replacement radiator/transmission installed at the Nissan dealer. My vehicle had 105,000 miles on it.
The contact owns a 2007 Nissan Xterra. While idling at a stop sign, the vehicle failed to accelerate when the accelerator pedal was depressed. The vehicle had to be pushed off the roadway and towed home. An independent mechanic diagnosed that the radiator ruptured, causing coolant to enter into the transmission. The contact called autonation Nissan (811 thornton rd, lithia springs, GA 30122, (770) 674-6080), but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
Transmission fluid in radiator in 2016, had to rebuild radiator. 2018 gas gauge fuel sensor not reading accurately. Only registers 1/4 tank even when filled.
Radiator and transmission fluid mixed now it`s going to cost $5000. 00 dollars for new trans.
"takata recall" I have a 2007 Nissan exterra 4wd. I checked my radiator fluid since I was not getting heat during parked idle. After letting the motor cool enough to remove the radiator cap, to my surprise there is transmission fluid in my radiator. I have owned this car approximately three years and never once got a letter. When I called Nissan today 11/10/2017 I was informed that the recall ended in 2016 or at 100,000 miles. In which case I was told nothing could be done.
My transmission went out due to a radiator defect in the 2005-2010 Xterras. I know there is a class action lawsuit involving this issue and consumers are attempting to force a recall of this generation of Nissans. The repair cost $4,200 and I was without a vehicle for over two weeks. The repair shop stated that I had significant water damage to the computer, which is typical of this defect. I was able to drive my vehicle to the shop, but I was very concerned about driving it from my location since I was hiking in the mountains approximately 40 miles from home when it became apparent there was a major issue.
Transmission fluid mixing with colling antifreezer due to a defective bad designed radiator,.
Nissan dealership notified me about needing to replace the entire timing chain system. After doing research, it is evident Nissan knew about faulty timing chain tensioners and guides that it was using on certain model year Xterras, including 2007. If timing chain fails while vehicle is in motion, it can lead to catastrophic engine failure and a $8000+ repair bill for a new engine. Nissan knowing about this problem sent service bulletins to its service centers but did not inform consumers about the problem. The timing chain should be good for the life of the engine, but now my local dealership is telling me it is going to cost at least $1900 to replace the timing chain and all components. Nissan knew the components are faulty and yet don't care enough to inform consumers. This isn't the first time this has happened. Nissan knew that the transmission coolers on same model year were faulty and did not inform consumers. Class action lawsuit forced Nissan to face the music, but consumers still had to pay over $2000 out of pocket to replace transmission, transmission cooler, and radiator.
Was driving down the road, and all of a sudden, transmission started downshifting. I pulled over, popped the hood, and smoke was coming from the transmission fluid. I checked it, and it was normal level but extremely hot. I let it cool down, and I started driving down the road again, and the overdrive starts rumbling; feels and sound like I'm driving over a rumble strip. Transmission shop says, the transmission needs replacing.
Was driving home from albuquerque nm to moriarty nm when had vehicle overheat stopped vehicle and checked antifreeze and in the reservoir found pink looking liquid let it cool down had husband check it and had coolant and transmission fluid mixed after this vehicle wouldn't shift properly also I was on i40 when it occurred.
Well the transmission and radiator leak took the my Xterra in to Nissan mcgavock and they told me that I needed to get transmission and radiator replaced and now I have no car and me and my wife have to walk to bus to take my daughter to school and I go to work on bus and so does my wife. . They told me from mcgavock Nissan that they could fix it for 5800. 00 dollars. This is a shame that you dont know what to do about helping people out and getting this fix. Xterra does not run it is broke. .
While driving, the car started not to shift well when changing gears. I've noticed on the highway and on the city roads. I took it to the dealer within that week and they said it was my transmission and that it will cost over $3000 to fix. When I purchased the car 2 years ago, I also purchased a bumper to bumper warranty that included the transmission. I did not have the paperwork with me so I had to go home to look for it. Once I found it, I called and sent the copy directly to the dealer. They called me the following day saying my warranty covers everything except intermix ingrid which was exactly what it was. I spent extra money to make sure if anything happens to my car I could get it fixed with the warranty. They told me they couldn't do anything and to fix it I must pay the $3000. I had my car for 2 years and it only has 75,000 mikes and now my transmission goes out? I researched what intermix ingrid is and found out I'm not the only one with this problem??! Nissan isn't taking responsibility and instead charging us all $3000+ to get the problem that everyone is having fixed. There should be a recall or the warranty should cover this problem. Nissan should not be making a profit on an issue they are aware and not trying to notify people about.
Takata recall I was never told to replace my radiator to protect my transmission. I now have to replace my radiator and transmission. Cross contamination. Nissan did nothing to inform me of this problem. I'v taken it to bellevue Nissan for more than 5 years. Not even a courtesy heads up. You can still save other customers. Please make them tell their customers to replace the radiator. I absolutely loved my x up to this point. They've lost all credibility. Very disappointing as a x customer and x fan.
Took SUV to woodbury Nissan, hearing sounds when driving and no heat. The radiator coolant leaked into the transmission. Both needs to be replaced. There was never a recall or any notice to me in the 9 years I have had this from new. I feel Nissan should have recalled this, and consumers should not have to pay for a defect they knew about.
Service engine light came on the vehicle. Took it to my local mechanic. Mechanic said it was throwing transmission codes suggested take it to dealer towed car to Nissan dealer. They told me the radiator coolent had leaked into the transmission proceeded to quote me a price of 6042. 00 for new transmission, radiator and coolant. What I don't understand is if this is a known defect why doesn't Nissan make this right? I bought this vehicle used in January from a dealership it is now October and I have a vehicle that repairs are going to cost almost as much as I paid for car. I was driving down the road then wham my vehicle is ruined because of pure greed. Why can't someone care about hard working people and make companies who produce defective stuff be held accountable?.
Transmission contamination by coolant costing $4578.
I was driving the vehicle on the highway, when the automatic transmission stopped shifting gears and the car decelerated. After it came to a stop, the car would not start again. After talking to mechanics, it appears that a defect in the radiator caused the radiator and transmission fluid to intermix, wrecking both the radiator and transmission.
Check engine light came on went to Nissan place where they did a test on it and calm the did not exactly what was wrong but it had something to do with the transmission and gave me prices on replacing the transmission. They did not tell me they have been having problems with their transmission. They also calm they did not know what the code that it was putting out mean just that it had something to do with the transmission (lies) finally after almost a month my car stopped, I took it to a transmission shop and it was took apart is when I was told it had coolant in it from the radiator that has cause damage to my transmission it was then that I went on line to learn of this problem I am asking for a recall and reimbursement of this cost due to the fact that Nissan knows about this problem. I was stationary at the time of this incident. At this time my car is in shop due to the fact that I do not have over 3000 dollars. I brought this car new in 2007 and I am the only owner and keep my maintance up.
Transmission appears to have coolant mixed into it. Also the fuel send unit has failed.
Coolant leaked into transmission and transmission broke down.
I bought Nissan Xterra with 94,000milles on it. One month later, I noticed that the radiator was filed with type of milky substance. I took it to the mecanic, he flushed the raidiator and flush the transmission, because there was a possibility of cross contaminations. The vehicule was fine for a couple of days, few days later my car completely shut down on new jersey turnpike. I struggled to put on the side, thanx god nobody was hurt. Transmission gone. I had to tow it to the mecanic and I had to spent 3k to get it fix. It seens that it is a common problem and Nissan should take responsability for this car.
My family and I was going down a big hill when the transmission went to the lowest gear on its own almost stopping us dead in its tracks 20 mph and we was on the interstate making big semi trucks locking brakes and almost hitting us running 70 plus mph. My daughter in the back,so we made it to the side of the road shut it off and we was fine agin. I took it home and transmission fluid was in the radiator , then looking on the internet thousands of Nissans are hav ing the same problems but yet no recalls!!! it almost cost our lives for a company to sorry to fix their product! so what do I do im scared to drive it help ASAP.
I was driving and the rpm excelerated without warning, the car shuttered, I had no power. Prior to this happening on March 26, 2016, we did not have any warning of a problem. The check engine light came on at which time I had already pulled over. I had the SUV towed to a repair shop. The repair shop advised me that the internal radiator dumped water into the transmission causing the transmission to burn up. It is not repairable. Upon further investigation, we found that there is a pending case regarding this defect (dp12004) on most Nissans affecting models made in 2004-2012. This states that the investigation is pending and a recalll has been requested but Nissan has not issued one as yet. Thank goodness I was not trying to pass or turn at the time it occurred. I was driving on a rural road and was able to safely pull over. There was no warning at all. Nissan should take responsibility for what is a defect in their vehicles. We bought the car used and will try to work with the finance company on who is responsible for this defect.
I bought a 2007 Nissan Xterra. 2 days later my check engine light came on Nissan told me I would need a new transmission it would cost me 4900 to replace. They clear the light off. They failed to tell me about the 2 recalls or the fact they were under investigation. When I called to file a complaint the lady said I would be contacted the following Monday. It never happened. I called Nissan they told me either to pay the 4900 or do without and I was hung up on. The following day I lost all gears in my car was almost hit by a semi with my 3 young kids in the car. My check engine light never came back on. I called Nissan the told me there was nothing they could do. When I brought up about the investigation they hung up on me when I called the complaint line back they told me they would look into it and I would hear back. Still nothing. Nissan should be ashamed and sued and be put out of business for knowingly endangering lives and not caring.
While traveling at highway speeds, my Xterra had sudden jerking felt throughout the vehicle. The mechanics have diagnosed the problem as a failed transmission cooler which has allowed coolant to mix with my transmission fluid, causing internal damage to its internal components. Prior to this failure, I have had no other issues what-so-ever with the operation of my vehicle. This damage to my transmission has cost in the thousands of dollars to repair, and all due to a faulty radiator that was installed by Nissan.
My transmission is now useless because there was a radiator leak? this isn't very safe as it could have messed up my driving!!!!.
The transmission stopped working while driving on the highway. I have read other complaints on this issue, so disappointed this has not been a recall. I just missed getting hit from behind due to the sudden stop.
