5 Air Bag Not Deploy problem of the 2010 Nissan Xterra

Failure Date: 07/26/2017

My air bag sensor light came on, took it to the dealership they told me that my air bags have been disabled because of a fault in the spiral cable in my steering column. They told me the part cost $460 to replace. They said it was a common problem which caused the seat belts to be deactivated. They told me to fix it I would have to pay because it was no longer under warranty. It seems to me that a safety feature such as an air bag should not have a warranty expiration. When I told them I didn't have the $460 they said make sure you wear your seat belt because your air bags will not work. The ironic thing is that I was at the dealership because of a safety recall because the air bags would automatically deploy while driving down the road. It seems Nissan doesn't care if your air bags will not deploy if it is not still covered under the warranty.

Just over 42k miles the front passenger side airbag warning light began spontaneously to blink - the airbag sensor had failed. The airbag will not deploy in a crash. This vehicle has never been involved in a collision of any kind. After talking w Nissan, they refused to repair it because the "vehicle is out of warranty. " cost to repair so far is $3,169 and climbing. The entire front passenger seat assembly was replaced but it did not fix the problem - now they are replacing other parts one at a time because they don't seem to know what sensor has failed. 13 Air Bag Not Deploy problem of the 2007 Nissan Xterra

Failure Date: 06/01/2015

The front passenger seat airbag sensor that detects if there is a passenger present has been malfunctioning. While driving the sensor in the seat will randomly turn the airbag on and off, whether or not there is a passenger present. The huge safety issue is that a passenger may actually be present and sensor will not turn the airbag "on" and in case of an accident, the airbag will not be deployed. And also the passenger airbag could be deployed when it shouldn't be, meaning there is no passenger present, leading to higher repair costs. A friend of mine said his 08 Nissan altima had a recall for the exact same issue. This is a serious safety issue that should be investigated immediately.

14 Air Bag Not Deploy problem of the 2005 Nissan Xterra

Failure Date: 01/03/2015

I lost control of my truck on black ice, travelling about 35 mph. After sliding sideways for a bit, the vehicle was stopped by a tree, directly into the rear driver side door. The tree caused the side windows to smash and about a 8-10" indentation into the roof and the vehicle occupancy compartment. The side curtain airbags did not deploy. Luckily the driver window smashed away, and my head did not impact the window. Also, luckily there was no one in the rear seat, again, as there was no side airbag deployment. The side airbags definitely should have deployed in such an accident. In short, the side airbags failed!.

Brake pedal faded to the floor, while trying to stop for a red light. Resulting in a three car accident. When I made contact with the car in front of me my airbag did not deploy although my empty passanger seats did. Although there were no skid marks and the officers that responded did not ticket me for failure to stop,Nissan insists that everything checks out and that it must have been operator error. Since this accident I have had my stereo replaced under warranty I have had work done on my steering column due to grinding noises and both motors in my rear windows are failing and need to be replaced, and this is just with 7200 miles on this vehicle, not to mention that every time I get out of the car the brakes smell hot after ashort or long drive and when I get in it the squeal and grind until they get nice and hot and start to smell. And all this is operating within normal limits. I would just like to know is the 12. 5 miles per gallon that I'm getting considered to be normal also? I'm happy to see that there is a web site like this that protects people like me and the others that purchased these all togather low quality, overpriced, not to mention dangerous cars. And just have to live with the fact that there is no recourse,it makes my day!!.
