The contact owns a 2006 Nissan Xterra. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for maintenance on the braking system. While driving away from the independent mechanic, several warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the independent mechanic for diagnostic testing. The vehicle was diagnosed as having contaminant in the brake fluid. The contaminant caused the brake failure which in turn produced the brake and dvc warning signals to illuminate. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The failure mileage was 106,000.

The contact owns a 2008 Nissan Xterra. The contact stated that he noticed a film of oil on the rear brake shields. Later while utilizing the emergency brake, the brake failed to engage and the vehicle rolled down a hill. The contact then attempted to lock the brakes by driving the vehicle at 10 mph and putting the vehicle in neutral, then pulling the emergency brakes but to no avail. The contact notified two separate dealers and neither offered any assistance. The contact believed that the rear axle assembly was leaking gear oil from the right and left hand axle seals. The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure and current mileages were 88,600.

2006 Nissan Xterra. Consumer writes in regards to vehicle brake system failure while driving and sudden acceleration. The consumer stated she was unable to stop the vehicle using the brake, and the vehicle accelerated at a high rate of speed. The consumer stated she was struggling for ways to stop the vehicle. She tried to stop the vehicle by using the emergency brake, but to no avail she was forced to try and maintain control of the vehicle while in the lane of other vehicle. The then placed the vehicle in neutral and it finally started to slow down.
While driving 45 mph, the driver applied the brakes, the brakes failed. The driver was unable to maintain control of the vehicle and collided with a tree and rolled over three times. Both frontal air bags failed to deployed. The driver sustained major injuries and was taken to the hospital . The vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection. The cause has not been determined at this time. Please provide any additional information.
