Nissan Xterra owners have reported 1 problem related to hatchback/liftgate hinge (under the structure category). The most recently reported issues are listed below. Also please check out the statistics and reliability analysis of Nissan Xterra based on all problems reported for the Xterra.
Depending on the temperature (70 degrees f or below) the hydraulic support arm for the rear lift gate fails to hold the lift gate in the open position resulting in head and neck being struck by said lift gate. Please note that as the temp. Decreases - the lift gate support decreases. I have on several occasions spoke with various Nissan dealerships who have admitted this problem but refused to rectify the situation - "we have not received an official notification requiring a dealership to make the necessary repairs. " other owners of this model and year confirm my observations. With all the recent recalls being issued industry wide, maybe this problem will be addressed. Thank you.
