2 Rear Suspension problem of the 2007 Nissan Xterra

Failure Date: 10/09/2009

Owner of 2007 Nissan Xterra. Rear suspension bottoms out with minimal weight. Nissan admits there is a problem but will not do anything about it. " soft ride suspension" they call it. When carrying passengers or towing an RV, rear suspension bottoms out on roads with small bumps and potholes. When vehicle "bottoms out", all weight goes abruptly onto tires, causing damage to tire tread and sidewall.

4 Rear Suspension problem of the 2000 Nissan Xterra

Failure Date: 05/29/2009

Rear leaf spring broke in half on both sides of the vehicle, one fell completely off the truck. Seriously affects control and handling of the vehicle. Possible safety issue to any vehicle following behind if this large piece of steel falls off at highway speed. Could also jam into roadway and cause vehicle to flip?.

5 Rear Suspension problem of the 2006 Nissan Xterra

Failure Date: 05/19/2009

2006 Nissan Xterra bottoms out in rear every bump in road. With passengers in rear, bump is so hard it causes all passengers to hit head, sounds like you have hit a tree. Can locate same complaint all over internet. Nissan reports "nothing wrong" design flaw only. Crashing my rear axle, still under full warranty and refuse to do anything. Simple bump stops have proven to help many at cost of over $300 installed. Nissan should repair, design flaw should not be at customers expense. Not safe for kids in rear seats.

7 Rear Suspension problem of the 2004 Nissan Xterra

8 Rear Suspension problem of the 2006 Nissan Xterra

Failure Date: 03/26/2008

The rear suspension is poorly designed in that there is not enough suspension travel before the axel hits the rubber bumper stops. If I carry passengers in the rear seat, the rear suspension will always bottom out on the rubber frame bumpers.

Failure Date: 12/13/2007

At 39,000 miles, right rear leaf spring snapped during normal driving conditions.

10 Rear Suspension problem of the 2007 Nissan Xterra

Failure Date: 02/27/2007

Bought a brand new 2007 Nissan Xterra offroad and the rear suspension bottoms out when traveling on any road with as little as 50 lbs. In the back. Vehicle is rated to tow but with a trailer attached it is very dangerous to control when traveling on roads with any type of bump or uneven road surface. Trying an emergency avoidance maneuver would cause a crash or injury due to a poor rear suspension. This issue is a continual problem.

11 Rear Suspension problem of the 2006 Nissan Xterra

Failure Date: 12/31/2006

The contact owns a 2006 Nissan Xterra. While driving 65 mph over a dip in the road, the vehicle's frame strikes the axle. The dealer stated that the contact needed to purchase a lift shackle and new shocks. The dealer also stated that nothing could be done because that is how the vehicle was designed. 13 Rear Suspension problem of the 2000 Nissan Xterra

Failure Date: 12/23/2000

Back end has gone out of control many times for no reason, on 12-23-2000 the back end went out of control and the car went into the on-coming lane which caused a accident. All 3 of our seat belts in my car released durring the accident. I was the only one with light bruises on my hips but not my shoulder, and everyone else didn't have a mark after the 100mph total impact accident. When the seat belt released, I broke the dash board with my knee, even though my seat was as far back as it could go. Right after the accident, we looked down and our seatbelts were laying next to us or retracted. The lady in the other car broke her sturnim as a result of her seat belt. I have possesion of the car and I am going to have it inspected.

14 Rear Suspension problem of the 2000 Nissan Xterra

Failure Date: 09/06/2000

I have heard a roaring noise in the truck since I puchased it on 4/29/00. The noise has gotten progressively worse. I took it into the dealership for them to check the noise. I was informed that the rear end was gone. This is a major component of the car. Had I ignored the noise there may have been a serious accident , causing severe injury to me, my passengers, and others. I am alarmed and reporting this because such a defect may go unreported. Thank you for any assistance attention you may give to this issue.
