One problem related to fuel injection has been reported for the 1999 Oldsmobile 88. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
When the vehicle was started there was a loud bang and smoke emitted from the engine compartment. The consumer opened the hood and noticed that the manifold cracked. Upon further investigation at the dealer it was determined that the fuel pressure regulator leaked causing the injector to blow off the injector. This in turn caused the intake manifold to crack. The dealer replaced the upper intake manifold with gaskets along with the fuel pressure regulator and fuel rails.
