All four of my window regulators have failed within a period of 2 months, I have replaced 3 of the four, the left rear door still has not been replaced do to the cost of parts for this car, in adition, I have had to replace the front calipers, brake pads and rotors on this vehicle 2 times within a period of 1 year, just before the last time I replaced them, my rear calipers went out, they will engage, but will stay locked, only releasing after I drive for about 20 feet or so, I have also experienced problems with the security system activating itself and not allowing me to start the car for at least 10 minutes ( the time it takes the system to recycle itself). In adddition, my door pannels coverings are all coming separated accross the top of of them, again do to the cost, I have failed to replace them. Unfortunatly this happened before I knew that so many people where having problems with the Oldsmobile Aleros, so I did not retain the old parts.

Caliper made out of aluminum will not release when applied. I have purchased several new brake pads and 2 sets of rotors before a mechanic found the problem and he said it happened a lot on this model.

Contacted dealer and they were not willing to do anything. . Also the driver side window chatters, there was a noise in the left front wheel bearing.

When coming to a stop brakes pulsate. Took vehicle to a mechanic, and they took off front drivers side wheel and checked the brake pad/ caliper. Mechanic noticed brakes were worn. Brakes had been changed 13000 mile ago. Please provide any further information.
When traveling at high speeds front end vibrates violently. Dealer has been contacted. Dealer states because of vibration the rotors warped. Rotors needed to be shaved and brake pads replaced.
While applying brakes vehicle will vibrate throughout steering. Dealership is aware of problem.
About every 12000 miles consumer has to have the brake pads or rotors replaced due to unusal wear in either part. Contacted dealer.
Consumer states vehicle would vibrate and the front wheels would grind when brake are applyed, dealer notified and replace the front rotors and the brake pads. Consumer states brakes made a squeaking noise before grinding. Also, the console cover latch failed.
In order to keep the car stopped, it was necessary to apply an excessive amount of pressure to the brake pedal. There was also a pulsation when applying the brakes. Diagnosis: pad and rotor failure. According to dealership, "necessary to replace the pads and rotors per bulletin. " on my invoice it was written, "all warranty repairs are a one time out of warranty goodwill policy adjustment. Vehicle is out of warranty in terms of time. " the vehicle was fine after the repairs. That is, it was fine until now (3000 miles later). I am now having similar problems with the brakes. I am due to take the vehicle back in and have the brakes examined.
Brakes pulsate during light braking. Car shakes badly. Warping sound can be louldly heard from front of vehicle in any wet conditions. Tires on vehicle are brand new. Car has been very well maintained. Brakes were replaced once for same issue in June 01. Corrected problem for short period of time. Problem has arisen again. Dealership unable to diagnose/fails to recognize a problem.
No summary listed for above vehicle.
There is pulsation when applying brakes, front rotors have been replaced 4 times due to being warped. *jbconsumer is logging this complaint because practically every 1000 miles consumer is having the rotors and brakes replaced for wear on this vehicle.
Brakes would make a grinding noise when braking or turning. Took vehicle to dealer, and they stated that wheels were too big for tires. This has been an on-going problem and now the tires are going flat.
Rotors refaced and pads replaced with only 22500 miles on vehicle (all at my expense). I find it very odd that rotors have to be refaced with only 22k miles on a vehicle. The dealer was asked 4 1/2 months ago to check the brakes and their idea of checking the brakes consisted of driving the car, which obviously didn't show them that there may have been a problem arising with the rotors. Furthermore after reading many of the complaints on this site it seems as though there may be a problem that general motors is not telling us about. Lets hope no serious accidents happen because of this problem.
Will someone have to die before GMC takes care of this problem. No safety defect stated.
Severe pulsation in steering column when applying the brakes, especially on the front driver side. Front pads and rotors were replaced per bulletin. 10,000 miles later, the same vibration occurs in the steering column when braking. I suspect the pads and rotors are worn again. Plan to return the car to the dealership for repair. Do not feel comfortable commuting on the interstate with this car because brakes may fail completely.
Rotors and pads replaced 5 times, please recall. Also, front wheel bearings wore out causing excessive tire wear and vague steering feel.
Brakes warped for the second time this time dealer replaced both rotors and pads and said thay had a bullitin 00-05-23-002 the rotors on this car are a major defect.
Brakes failed with no warning. Going down hill when front pads gave out and assembly dug into rotors. Required replacement of pads, rotors and miscellaneous components. Dealer (burne olds in scranton, PA) told me Alero brakes were under recall, but not mine. I had to pay the $400 for replacement. Contacted gm to complain and was told it was my problem. If there had been a warning, I could have had them serviced before complete failure and resultant damage (front rims were scorched from the heat from the failed brakes). I was very lucky that I was able to get car stopped and to service before being involved in severe accident.
Car consistently wobbles while driving. Dealer replaced struts, rotors and brake pads. Problem still exists.
Brakes were making grinding sound. Dealer replaced front brake pads. But, grinding sound still coming from rear brakes. Rotors were grooved. Dealer stated brakes were normal.
Consumer stated the vehicle would shake through the steering when the brakes were being applied, the front rotors have been replaced 5 times and the brake pads twice due to being out of round, also the abs light illuminated in the dash, dealer replaced bulb.
Engine stalls while driving - happened on highway, side roads, all speeds. No warning. Car may or may not be restartable. Car stalled on highway during dealer test drive required a tow. Also rotors warped - steering wheel shakes during high speed breaking.
Rotors are too thin to handle heat genarated by disc pads, resulting in out of round condition.
While braking at any speed vehicle vibrates violently. Dealer has examined vehicle three times. Dealer turned the rotors/replace d front rotors and brake pads, and rear rotors and brake pads twice. Problem has returned within 600 miles of last repair. Please provide any additional information/attachments.
The front brakes and rotors were replaced due to vibration problems.
I have been having brake problems for the last year and a half. The brakes pulsate under any braking conditions ,but at speeds above 50 mph it is extremly bad. The dealer has attempted to fix the problem on six occasions with no success. The first brake replacement they replaced both front rotors and pads. That lasted for about 10,000 miles before needing another repair. After that repair the rotors were resurfaced, which then caused the brakes not only to pulsate but to also make a grinding or moaning noise while stopping. We are now on repair number six and still the problem is not fixed. After speaking with a representative from general motors and being told that brakes are not a safety concern I am worried about the safety of any gm vehicle. Something needs to be done about the defect of these brakes before someone is injured or killed because gm can't admit fault. The driver side power window has stopped working on two occasions the first being on 12/10/2001 then again on 02/06/2002. On both occasions the motor had to be replaced. No further problems with this as of yet.

I have taken the vehical to be fixed under warranty 3 time starting in July 2000, sept 2001 at the same dealership (schaumburg olds) and third time to martin j kelly. First two time, the problem was that the when depressing the brakes I got a pulsation and vibration felt through the pedal. The third time, the rotors sounded as if theyw ere grinding and braking was difficult to apply. First time the vehicval had 7957 miles and third time 21,000 miles. I am going to take the vehical back again next week because the grinding sound has now returned even when brakes are not applied and the car is rolling. There would appear to be a manufacturer defect for the vehical to require such a repeated number of trips to the dealer. The dealers have resurfaced the rotors and may have changed them on one occasion. My concern is wehether the brakes on the vehical will fail at some point in time as a result of this rotor/brake issue.
Rotors and pads needed to be replaced for a second time 11/13/00 at 11340 miles. First replaced 07/10/00 at 8500 miles. I have only had car for 9 months. Please help with any suggestions. I am not happy with the complaints I have seen on this car.
When applying brakes at any speed there is a very strong vibration, took vehicle to dealer, and they machined and cut the rotors, driver stated that problem has reoccurred over and over, and dealer has replaced rotors/ pads, and machined and cut rotors, but problem still exists, cause unknown. Consumer stated the problem has since reoccured.
Consumer was traveling about 65mph on the highway and upon applying brakes, vehicle continuously vibrated and trembled.
Right front wheel still making noise. Vehicle taken to the dealer and had front rotors replaced twice, and front brake pads replaced once; but, problem was still reoccurring. Feel free to provide any further information.
This vehicle's brakes on front heat up turn rotor's blue and warp them. . . . We as of 10/2000 have had 2 new set's of rotor's on this vehicle and had one set resurfaced and turned because they we're warped. . We currently have a call to area serv. Rep from gm the rotor's are blue again. . This is 4 time's in less than 5 month's. We are still being played with it is time for some help. Our vehicle has spent many many time's in the shop already we feel it's a safty issue they pulse and are spongy, there's vibration in the steering wheel at 65 and over if you have to apply the brake's. Constantly same complaint with no satisfaction but that they continue to blame the problem's on us.
