3 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2001 Oldsmobile Bravada

Failure Date: 02/01/2012

I was traveling on the highway at the posted 55mph speed limit when all of the sudden, the vehicle completely shut off. There was no power as if the ignition for the vehicle was completely turned off. With there being no power to the vehicle, I could only allow the momentum of the vehicle roll to the shoulder of the highway away from traffic. I had no use of turn signals or hazard signals. Once I was able to get over safely, I looked at the dashboard and cold only see the battery indicator light on, no other lights were illuminated. I turned the key to the off position, removed the key from the steering column, reinserted the key and tried to restart the vehicle. At first, none of the dash board lights would come on when I tried to restart the vehicle, I had to repeatedly turn the key back and forth and then the dashboard lights all came on, I was then able to restart the vehicle as normal and let the vehicle sit for a moment. I was able to drive the vehicle to a safe location off of the highway and back home. This was a very scary moment simply for the fact this occurred while I was driving at a very high speed and during traffic time. I also had my children in the vehicle. I am very concerned and would like to get a possible solution.

4 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 1998 Oldsmobile Bravada

Failure Date: 03/09/2007

I purchased a used 1998 olds Bravada. It has been an ok car except. The heater/air conditioner doesn't work properly. My dealer says you have to switch it back and forth from heat to cool in the dash somewhere (my question was, what is the thermostat button for then???). Also, the transmission or motor at 3000 rpms cuts out bad and jumps and could cause an accident if you are in the passing zone when this happens. Also, the dimmer switch doesn't work anymore. The windshield wipers do and the signals do but not the dimmer??.

5 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2002 Oldsmobile Bravada

Failure Date: 09/07/2006

: the contact stated while the vehicle was at the car wash in 2003 there was a water leak on the passenger side. The right power window would not rollup or down and this occurred intermittently. The dealership could not duplicate the problem. Two-three weeks ago while trying to get the window to roll down, the engine died suddenly without warning. This was the third time the engine died suddenly. The first was while driving 60 mph on a dry highway. The vehicle was towed to the dealership who could not duplicate the problem. The second time, the vehicle restarted after sitting a short while on the side of the road. The cvcs boots on the front wheels blew and were replaced twice. The headlights were replaced three times.

6 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 1998 Oldsmobile Bravada

Failure Date: 06/13/2006

Vehicle has a complete loss of power while driving. It happens numerous times without warning while driving to work 3rd shift 55-60 mph on a country road. . . Vehicle would suddenly shut down. With no lights, power steering, ect. . . I would have to try and pull over in the pitch black of night. After about 20 minutes it would start back up and on I would go, praying it wouldn't happen at the curves. After a couple of years of this and nobody having any answers, my husband discovered it is a connector in the steering column that gets corroded and he has to clean it. As long as we clean the corrosion off of the connector about twice a year, the vehicle does fine.

7 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 1997 Oldsmobile Bravada

Failure Date: 08/15/2002

Other: replacing the windshield wiper motor engine: a cyclinder on the vehicle cracked and needed a new motor. This is absurd. With a regularly maintained vehicle, with only 5 1/2 years of ownership there should be no reason other than improper casting, metal fatigue, default from the factory that a new motor should have been needed with this kind of mileage.
