The automobile over heated because the thermostat in the engine bloc rusted through and water boiled out. According to the mechanic or supervisor, raymond roper, many components needed to be replaced. I had my car maintained at a GMC service as long as I had the car. Although I had not had it serviced for two years or 17 thousand miles, I find it difficult to believe that the cooling system would suffer a complete rust through. Every component in the cooling system needed to be replaced. It cost $2000. 00 to repair it. Also seaside Buick maintenance had only changed my oil each time I brought it in to them. Seaside began maintaining my car at about 28,000 mile before that it was well maintained by hollier Oldsmobile in orlando, florida. Car was not driven from florida to California. But if this had happened on a long trip, it could have a major problem. I do not believe that should ever happen and I suspect something is amiss. There is nothing but antifreeze in the car so what can cause rust.

Transmission problems, windshield wipers not working, headlights not working, awd problems, cooling system problems, fuel pump, control arm & ball joint problems are just some of the major safety issues on 96-99 gm blazers, Bravada's, & jimmys. These problems should really be looked into and recalled. Most problems starting right after warranty expired. Can't believe gm is getting away with this. Transmission went bad at 71000 miles and dealer says that they know there was a defect with the transmissions also problem (code 1870) but they will not cover the repair.

Engine shuts down at high speeds, lost of power & steering. All dash lights and brake warnings on. Can ususally restart but speedometer and instrument panel unoperable. Couple of times the engine has raced at high rpms with no speed. Has been to the shop 3 times, new pcm (computer) has been put in twice. Have had a case number, said they weren't going to replace car, they were going to fix it and put in the 2nd pcm. On pins and needles waiting for it to shut down again.

This vehicle is prone to multiple component failures.
The vehicle began overheating. The check engine light appeared. It was taken to the dealer and said that the coolant became muddy and that happens a lot when the coolant gets a little low. The thermostat was replaced along with a flush and fill on the radiator and cooling system. The dealer wanted to put the same coolant in the radiator and this was unusual to me. I had them put in preston and had no problems since.
None.
There is rust in the anti-freeze, I had the anti-freeze drained and replaced the fluid and after only 7000 miles the anti-freeze is once again filled with a brownish , gritty fluid. It was suggested that I replace it again so as to not damage any of the engine componets.
