1 Front Suspension Lower Ball Joint problem of the 1999 Oldsmobile Bravada

Failure Date: 02/02/2006

On 11 Apr 2005, I purchased a 1999 Oldsmobile Bravada from a nh dealer, with approx. 74000 miles on it. Within one week, the vehicle was returned for a bad water pump, and driver's window switch. During the week of 21 April, I had the alternator replaced. This vehicle had a nh state inspection sticker, but it has yet to pass a MA state inspection. The air injection pump that assists in the air/fuel mix has been updated by gm, but their "update" allows them to call it something other than a recall, so, it would cost me an additional $400-500. For this "update". In Sep of 2005, I noticed a gradually growing noise from the front end. I was told the entire front end was wiped out. The safety issues alone were exhaustive. The following had to be replaced, and were done, to the cost of $1700. : pitman arm / idler arm / upper, lower ball joints / cv joints,axles,boots/ entire front hub assemblies / front brakes (rotors, pads, calipers) / 4 tires currently, the driver's front door is sagging due to poor door pins and bushings. Maaco wants $1200. To replace the hinges, pins, and bushings, and repair/replace the striker plate and surrounding area. The directional signal sounds constantly even without using the signal, and goes away when you step on the brake (!?) the key frequently gets stuck in the ignition and won't come out. Last month yet another alternator had to go in as the other failed. I had this back in the shop yesterday 01feb06 for a banging sound coming from the front end, and the technician advised me that he called gm. They confirmed there is a defective front torsion bar in these blazer-type vehicles. The technician stated it would cost me around $250. It never ends. I am truly exhausted both mentally and financially with this car. Please provide any assistance you can. The dealer won't take it back, will not assist, and gm does not want anything to do with me. They won't even take my call. I truly fear for my and my family's safety.

3 Front Suspension Lower Ball Joint problem of the 1998 Oldsmobile Bravada

Failure Date: 11/03/2003

I purchased my 1998 Bravada 4/02 and since then have had nothing but problems. The upper and lower ball joints have been replaced twice (they were replaced and approx 2 weeks later I was having the same problems again and I was told the parts were "faulty"). I had the same problems with the brakes--had them fixed , then had problems again, took it back and again it was blamed on "faulty" parts. The brakes still squeak badly, so I'm sure I will hear again that I had "faulty" parts. The tread on the front tires wore unevenly (they were pro-rated 80,000 mile tires and after less than 3,000 miles the inner edges were completly bald). So of course, the tires were supposedly "faulty". The ignition module goes out every 6 months with out fail. The ignition will stick in the lock position and the key cannot be removed unless you force it which results in the Bravada being able to be started without the key. I was told there was a memo put out on this part, but no recall. These are only the repairs that have had to be repeatedly done. I am really begining to wonder if maybe the truck is "faulty" and not the parts. Also, I refuse to take the truck to the olds dealership. I think there moto is "it isn't our problem", and if it isn't, maybe it should be because they say it enough. And lets be honest--yes Oldsmobile, it is your problem. You maufactured these vehicles and now many, many people are paying for them. Maybe they should stand up and actaully start taking responsibility for it. Anyone else agree?.

4 Front Suspension Lower Ball Joint problem of the 2000 Oldsmobile Bravada

Failure Date: 08/11/2003

Drivers side front ball joint broke while driving in the rain, car slid, I did manage to miss the semi's tires the car was headed for. After checking the ntsa web page I find that there have been other complaints/recals on the ball joint and suspension system, I have never received any information reguarding this. I did pay dearly to have the one set of ball joint repaired. Is the recall still avaliable for the rest of the ball joints and the suspension system. My car only has 38k miles on it and is falling apart. Please help.

5 Front Suspension Lower Ball Joint problem of the 1998 Oldsmobile Bravada

Failure Date: 05/13/2003

The upper and lower ball joints on my 1998 Oldsmobile Bravada with awd smartrack wear at a very accelerated rate. They, along with the tie rods were replaced soon after I purchased the vehicle at approx 86000 miles with all gm parts, and now at 93000 miles need replacing again. They have been properly lubricated, and the front end has been aligned several times, all by a gm dealer. The vehicle is not used off road or for plowing. Having spoke to several other Bravada owners, I am finding this to be a rather common problem. These components are critical, and should last much longer than they have, especially on an all wheel drive vehicle that never goes off road. No recall is noted, however front suspension components directly related to these have been investigated by the NHTSA. The vehicle is fitted with quality name brand standard size tires in good condition.

I had vehicle inspected private garage and they noted lower ball joint wear, I contacted Oldsmobile because the parts were replaced at an olds dealer the manufacturer of my vehicle incident number 1-65943454 they noted contacting dealer and would repair vehicle, and since it was covered under the warranty I purchased would not compensate other repairs,I wanted to file complaint because replacement ball joints only lasted a year and that these were also defective parts.
