When turning left steering column becomes difficult to turn. Recall 03v527000 was issued on this make/model, and year, but this vehicle was not included due to VIN.
A clunky noise originating in the front end of my 1998 Oldsmobile Intrigue required a $150 steering column lubrication to repair. This problem is detailed in two TSB's on nhsta's web site: #051101 and 010232001b. I consider this charge outrageous based on the fact that in the nearly 50 years I've owned cars, I've never heard of a steering column requiring lubrication. I believe this is a defect in either a design or a manufacturing process that gm is making its customers pay for over and over rather than correcting.
Steering column produces a loud knocking noise which causes a lot of play in the wheel.
Power steering gear assembly was replaced at 26,000 miles. Currently, at 35,000 miles, the lower steering shaft must be replaced. The consumer stated the vehicle continued to snap and pop when turning the wheel and over small bumps. The consumer took the vehicle several times, with no answer until recently, in which the dealer stated the steering column should be replaced. The window motor and thermostat failed.

If driving at 45mph vehicle will heavily vibrate, also steering column will make a popping noise while turning. Dealer will be notified. Consumer stated the steering shaft had been replaced twice, due to a popping noise, the rear passenger windopw sticks.
1. Difficult to turn steering (sporadic) 2. Clunking noise/vibration in steering wheel 3. Water on passenger floor 4. Throttle sticks during acceleration.
Steering is locking up while making left hand turns which could cause loss of vehicle control. Oldsmobile dealer has attempted to fix defect 3-4 times by replacing steering column shaft and other related parts, but there is still a crunching noise when turning. Consumer again took vehicle to dealer who claimed a pulley needed to be replaced which could not be done because a special tool was needed to perform the repair . Tool was on national backorder and has not provided a date as to when tool will be availble.
