Power sliding door latch actuator failure. Latch is stuck in open position, will not latch. Exact same problem as described in previous recalls NHTSA campaign id number: 01v067000 and NHTSA campaign id number: 01v264000. Oldsmobile states vehicle has been repaired under the recall already in 2002. I purchased used with low miles (around 70k) in 2009. Vehicle has been meticulously maintained and is in close to showroom condition as you could find for a 2000. Oldsmobile states there are not enough complaints about the repair to consider any ongoing recalls. Oldsmobile informs me that with a vehicle of this age, regardless of mileage or condition, mechanical and electrical parts should be expected to fail. Somehow, I don't consider my door flying open going down the road to be just a minor failure or inconvenience. It is a huge safety issue, one that has been documented enough that there was an initial recall, then a second recall to fix the first recall. Obviously, this was a band aid repair. I got most of the service records from the first two owners. This vehicle was used mostly by an older couple and the sliding door has much lower than average use for a 100,000 mile car. There are not that many of these gm minvans on the road, and as a result the absolute number of complaints might be low. It should be considered that gm did not perform a sufficient repair and did just enough to get by. Oldsmobile told me that the repair at this point is up to the customer. What will it take for this recall to be reviewed? fortunately no one was in my captain's chair when our door flew open. Will someone have to be killed or run over for this to be reviewed?.

The contact owns a 1998 Oldsmobile Silhouette. The contact stated that once the vehicle was stopped and shifted into park, the vehicle would not shift into drive. In addition, the vehicle would only remain in park if the emergency brake was engaged. The vehicle was towed to a local repair facility where it was inspected by an independent mechanic. The contact owns a 1999 Oldsmobile Silhouette. The right passenger sliding door would automatically open partially, and then close. If a passenger attempts to enter the vehicle, he or she may be seriously injured. The vehicle was repaired according to recall numbers 01v264000 & 04v597000 ( latches/locks/linkages:doors:latch). The manufacturer would not assume responsibility for the failures. The dealer stated that to identify the cause of the failure she would have to pay a diagnostics fee of $125. 00. The current mileage was 112,326. The failure mileage was approximately 112,000.

I was driving down the road and all of a sudden the radio stopped working. I thought that a fuse had blown (which it did) so I replaced it. About 20 miles down the road it did it again. When I stopped at my destination I realized that the fuse that was continually blowing controlled my radio, the actuator module of the power sliding door, the navigation system and the remote control for locking and unlocking my doors. I managed to narrow it down to the actuator module that was causing the problem. I locked my motor for the door and haven't had a problem with it since. I got a fax from gm and it shows that the acuator module has been replaced 3-4 times before the car even had 8500 miles on the car. The cable has been adjusted as well for the same door. I didn't see any recalls on the actuator itself. I don't know what to do at this point. I would apprieciate any feed back as soon as possible.
: the contact stated the sliding door on the right side of the vehicle was not working properly after the recall (01v264000, 04v597000 or 01v067000) repair was completed. The door opened without warning, while the vehicle was idling, but no longer worked. The door only operated properly on an intermittent basis. The contact owns a 2003 Oldsmobile Silhouette. The contact's vehicle has two rear power sliding doors. The doors are supposed to automatically stop when making contact when anything in the doorwell, without having to press the open/close button. On numerous occasions, her kids have been bruised because the door will continue to close regardless of anything in its path. She believes that there is a sensor that is malfunctioning and feels that her kids could be seriously injured. The current mileage is 60,447 and failure mileage was 45,000.

Our 2001 Oldsmobile Silhouette has had numerous issues. The issues are placed in a close chronological order. All events have occurred after 50k miles with the exception of the power door locks. The dealer took care of all recalls. The power door locks intermittently lock and unlock. This problem has been to the dealer over 4 times. The first time the dealer replaced ignition switch wiring harness and the last time the dealer replaced a chafed wire under the passenger seat. The other times the dealer could not isolate. The problem still occurred. We got tired of bringing it to the dealer. The drivers side seat heater had failed. At 66k miles, the transmission went out. It was due to a faulty sun gear. I had to replace tie rods on the vehicle twice on each side. Once around 70k and once around 115k. The fuel ascending unit failed around 90k. On the passenger side I had to replace the wheel bearings and the cv axle. Lights in the heater controls have blown and the only way to replace them is to solder new bulbs onto the control module. The blower motor failed on 1st and 2nd speed. We experienced the same engine overheating issues as seen by other individuals at mycarstats. Com. This relates to the cooling system. I had three separate issues stemming from this. The first failure was a blown head gasket. About 8 months later the upper manifold gasket blew. Six months later another cooling system failure blamed on the lower intake manifold. Many of the repairs where costly. The lower intake manifold failure was never fixed. We decided to pass this gm piece of junk on. It had 137k miles. Most of the miles driven where highway, very few city and stop-and-go.
Sliding door problems since purchase. Driver electric seat "repaired" several times and still does not work. Dealer repaired rear compressor and broke cover latch. They put a hole in the front bumper at this time. Passenger front window chooses not to work at random and back left side window sometimes does not close. Tape player has ate tapes since purchase. No air conditioning!.

Consumer sliding door only works manually, driver seat does not have either manual or electronic control. The power window on the drivers side was replaced.
Consumer experienced problems getting recall repair work completed on his 1998 Oldsmobile van. Dealership took too long to perform recall 04v597000 regarding the interior handle to open the power sliding door. Consumer will take chances with the faulty doors in hopes that no one will get injured.
The consumer stated that the sliding door on 1999 Oldsmobile silhoutte opened while driving and ripped the tire and the rim. The back fender was damaged, and the rear bumper was bent outwards. The paint was also damaged in the areas that the door hit. Door opened several times before by itself. The owner had a hard time closing the door, which was checked before. Owner returned it to the dealer where she bought vehicle. But they could not find any problems with the door. Dealership suggested that the owner bring the van back when the door was opening. The van has not been returned since. Owner left the door alone, and did not have the door checked again. The door sometimes will not open . Owner made children get in to vehicle on the other side when the door would not open. This is was a problem for about 4 months. The owner had the vehicle towed to a dealership for repairs after the door came open and caused damage to the van.
The consumer stated that there was a recall 04v597000 on the latches on a 2002 Oldsmobile Silhouette. However, this vehicle was not included in the recall due to VIN. The consumer contacted gm ,and they could not tell him why this vehicle was not included in the recall. He had the same door handles and latches that were being replaced. The consumer was concerned for the safety of passengers . They were at risk for the same incidents that were occurring to others. The consumer has been in contact with gm twice, and they still could not answer the question.
The sliding door sensor which made the door retract if there was an object in its passage way malfunctioned. The door slid shut, pining consumer's left hand in the door. Consumer hands sustained soft tissue damage, but didn't break. In addition the warning chime did not activate to inform the consumer the door was closing. Dealer replaced door lock sensors.
Recall #01 v 264 000/sliding door:intermittently the automatic sliding door would open by itself while driving. The dealer has made repairs on this door approximately 2 year ago, now the problem is recurring.
Consumer did not receive a recall letter. The dealer refused to perform the recall reapirs. There were no accidents.
Sliding door on olds silhoulette opened and shut by itself. Child was exiting the vehicle and was almost hit . We are using the door as a manual operation this is going to hurt someone at sometime if not corrected. Both of our doors have acted up.
While holding a child the electric sliding door closed on the child's arm, breaking it. The key remote had to be used to unlock the door . There was also another close case with an older child.
The automatic sliding doors rattled and reopened once the were shut. When closing the door it locks on its own. Once the vehicle locks on its own consumer is not able to get out. Consumer tries to open the doors with the remote control, but with no luck. Consumer has to wait until it unlocks to exit.
My one year old daughter got her hand caught in the passenger side sliding door. The whole system malfunctioned. And we could not get the door to open with the electrical buttons. We tried with the car on and off. And we also could not open the door manually from the inside or outside. We immediatly called 911. And ended up having to pry the door open with crow bars. One on the inside and one on the outside. This is the email I sent to Oldsmobile. After they received my email. They determined on their own to file a product allegation. The file # is 1-222720667 I was assigned to a representative who told me they may not pay to have my car fixed, even though it is under warrenty. I was also told on the day I dropped my car off (June 8th,2004) it would be ten days at the most to come to a conclusion after the private investigator examinded the vehicle. I did speak with my gm representative larry meeks yesterday. He seemed very short and annoyed at me. Were in the beginning he was appoligetic about my daughters hand and wanted to be helpful. He said he didn't file the report to have the car looked at until june10th at 2pm. But on the phone on June 8th at 12noon he declared to me that it would be ten days from then. June 8th was the day I dropped the car off at the dealership. I was under the impression that gm filed the claim on their own because they were interested in making sure this doesn't happen to anyone else. I was also told that there have never been any reports filed of injuries to other people from the sliding doors. This is apparently false. After reviewing your web site and reading through some complaints. I felt like I had been lied to by gm. And it is possible that they only have their own interest at heart. Complaint #10025827 sure stuck out in my mind. And that is why I am filing my compliant. Because one sad and disheartened mother has no power against a big CO. Like gm.
The motor for the power sliding door broke with about 48,000 miles on the vehicle. I took it to 2 different gm dealers and was told by both service shops that it would be over $1200 for the repair an that it would not be worth repairing because they all break. Even the new ones break. I was told that a recall would be coming out because of all the problems.
Passenger side power door does not stay closed. The power door closes with switch, but immediately reopens as though it bumped something. I takes almost an hour to get the power door to stay closed and that is with having to manhandle the door shut and locking the side door and disabling the power to the door.
The passenger's side electric sliding door would not remain closed when the consumer closed it, after a few seconds, the door would pop back open. This problem was recalled twice 01v264000 and 01v067000).
Consumer complained about an automatic sliding door problem. A recall was issued in 2001, but the parts needed for repair were inferior, and the door still did not work.
Sliding power door will open by itself in occasions and now it doesn't work automatically states is the module and replacement cost quoted at $1412. 00.
The vehicle was taken to the dealer for recall# 01v067000 subject: power sliding door. The dealer made repairs to the rear passenger sliding door but the problem continued.
The right rear automatic door will reopen after it was closed. The vehicle had been to the dealer seven times for this problem. The door opened 100 times since last August.
Passenger side sliding door on our 2001 Oldsmobile Silhouette stays in locked position. We had a certified olds dealer look at it. They said this was a common problem. They replaced the contacts at 36479 miles. We are still experiencing the same problem at just over 40,000 miles. The door hasn't been able to be used for over a week because it stays locked. I feel this is a safety issue in case we need to leave the vehicle in an emergency.
Sometimes the sliding door will not open and now has opened while driving down the road. I have taken the van in this makes the 10th time to have the doors fixed. The dealer service dept. Says they fixed it and they didn't. The backup sensors will not work. Have taken it in 2 times to get it fixed. The can is in the shop now for over 1 week and they told me it was fixed and I told them I was taking it to my lawyers office and they changed their mind and said that is wasnt fixed and they have had it there for 1 week now. I have had the problem with the door since right after I took delivery of the van when purchasing it.
My daughter's fingers were crushed in my parents automatic sliding door on their 2002 Oldsmobile siloutte minivan. The fingers became lodged on the inside back of the door after she pushed the button to close the door and reached back for her seatbelt. The door would not open, either by the button or the inside or outside door handle. Her fingers remained caught for 20 minutes while we waited for rescue. (911 was called and they sent a firetruck out). Luckily, there were no broken bones, and the extent of the injury was swelling and pain. But the supposed "safety" feature that stops the door from closing when something is in the way did not work. After the incident, upon testing it out, my dad had to put a lot of body weight against the door to stop it from opening. His arm being in the way was not enough. Certainly, a child could be seriously injured or die due to being crushed in a door that didn't stop closing.
: the contact stated there was a recall for the automatic sliding door. The manufacturer recall number is 01013. The NHTSA recall # is 01v264000, the repair was performed in March of 2003. The sliding door failed to stay latched after the recall work was performed by the dealership. The door would not open automatically or close completely. The dealer is willing to assist after the contact pays for the diagnostic fee.
Recall campaign 01v067000 concerning power sliding door. The automatic door would intermittently open by itself while driving. Dealer was not notified at this time.
Door would not latch when driving. No power to open door. Also, left front wheel censor malfunctioned for abs traction control/ transmission failed, and intake manifold leak.
The drivers side door opened unexpectedly during initial puuout of driveway. The drivers side door was not used for entry and had not been opened in several weeks. This is the 2nd time in a year that this part has failed!.
