The contact owns a 1998 Oldsmobile Silhouette. The right passenger door was repaired on January 7, 2002 per recall 01v067000 latches/locks/linkages: doors: latch. The recall repair did not correct the failure and the right sliding door will not lock or latch. The manuafacturer was notified and was advised that the time alloted for a second repair had expired due to the vehicles mileage. The failure mileage was 34,694 and the current mileage was 128,382.

Prior to any knowledge of recall notification, consumer noticed that the door of the van was stuck halfway open, vehicle was towed to dealership and consumer was informed that it would cost $1,414. 14 to fix or they could remove the mechanism for $189. 00 and the door would operate manually, consumer is requesting reimbursement stating that the dealership was aware of this recall and did not fix the vehicle accordingly which should have been at no charge.

Received notice #01v067000; took vehicle to dealer. Repairs done on sliding door. Originally had problem, repaired before recall. Problem after recall was like before, not working properly, but getting worse. Recall repairs were done a week ago.
Ignition will work on erratic basis. When consumer goes out to start vehicle, ignition will fail to start vehicle. Dealership has refused service, and a cause for this defect could not be determined. There was thumping in rear periodically when brakes are applied. Hood possibly could open while driving. There was recall 01v-067 on sliding door possibly opening while driveing.
On a random basis there is a thumping noise coming from brake system. Dealership has refused service. Cause of defect has not been determined. Ignition locks up periodically. Sliding door will not stay latched and opens while vehicle is being driven. Dealer says it's because vehicle is being driven on gravel roads. Problem still exists.
The right side sliding door does not latch properly. Intermittently the door will open on its own. Also abs traction control light stays on.
While turning, another car ran a red light and hit consumer on passenger's side of vehicle. Upon impact, rear door flew open, and airbags did not deploy. Consumer feels this is unsafe for anyone that may be riding in the back seat.
Passenger's side sliding door does not properly shut and is very loose. When driving, there is movement in the door. Consumer has contacted dealer.

Intermittently driver's door locks and unlocks on its own. The dealer has replaced the door module. Manufacturer has been notified.
Upon using the passenger's sliding door and locking the door and consumer putting vehicle into drive, the door will pop open. Also, when driving through some water vehicle will lose power steering.

While driving, the passenger side electronic sliding door begun to chime and open. The dealer made several attempts to repair the door, but there hasn't been a remedy.
The vehicle's sliding door does not open by remote control or by the buttons on the door, it has to be opened manually, consumer wants to be sure this problem is not related to recall 01v067.
The consumer recieved recall notice 01v-264 for the power sliding doors, the dealer was contacted and told the consumer the the parts were on back order, the consumer has waited over two months to have the safety recall repaired. Nlm.
The power sliding door opened by itself while driving prior to recall notice 01v-067 and when closing it doesn't always stay shut, the door appears to be shut but as the consumer walks away the door reopens, on one occasion a child fell out of the car trying to shut the door as the driver pulled over to the shoulder, sustained bumps and bruises. Nlm.
08/15/01 the driver side window dropped down al by itself while the vehicle was parked at my house and the alarm beeped 2 or 3 times. On 9/6/01 the passenger side sliding door opened all by itself while the vehicle was parked at my house and the alarm beeped 2 or 3 times.
Consumer states that after recall 01v264000 repairs were done for sliding door, door still will not stay closed. The last time the vehicle was repaired, the problem has reoccured, and was worse than before. The door opens when vehicle is in park. Now it doesn't open with the remote. Consumer states this vehicle has been problematic since purchase. The windshield leaks. The windshield has been replaced twice and taken out and resealed twice. The brakes have been relined twice.
