Ten problems related to car stall have been reported for the 1996 Plymouth Grand Voyager. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Vehicle will stall out while the consumer is driving. Contacted dealer, and the dealer has replaced a few parts on vehicle, but problem still occurs.
Vehicle intermittently stalls, losing all power. Once vehicle is parked it fails to restart. Dealer was notified. *akvehicle has been to the Chrysler dealership eleven times to have this problem fixed. After the initial loss of power, the vehicle will start approximately ten minutes after.
Vehicle stalls at highway speed, 8 times at 70-75 mph. Vehicle taken to dealer, unable to remedy problem.
Over a year and 1/2, had multiple (at least 10) incidents of vehicle stalling while slowing down, at turns or traffic lights. Resulted in loss of power steering, brakes, and temporary loss of control onto next lane; luckily, no accidents. Multiple trips to Plymouth dealership, all inspections and costly empirical repairs are fruitless, until ais (automatic idle speed) motor replaced (throttle body cleaned, also). The mechanic stated he had seen this problem in his own Plymouth! this failure has not recurred in the 3 years since making the ais motor the likely cause of the problem. This is simply a follow-up, hopefully of some use to drivers and mechanics.
When coming to a stop the vehicle stalls, resulting in loss os power steering. Dealer has inspected and repaired vehicle; however, problem still exists.
Intermittent stalling.
This is an intermittent problem that Chrysler so far refuses to fix. My van will at times stall when the weather is hot. It does this when I am not pressing the gas pedal while turning or coasting, for example. The dealer has only been able to duplicate the situation once and does not know what causes it so refused to "throw parts at it. " it started when the van was in warranty, about 1 year old with fewer than 15,000 miles, and has continued happening every summer. I have gone through Chrysler and their response is the same: "we will not throw parts at it. " so, the problem remains. The vehicle has stalled on major highways and on rotaries and is very dangerous. I have to throw it in neutral while still moving in heavy traffic and restart it. I have recorded the problem with Chrysler, but they have not done anything.
While driving vehicle stalls for no reason. Vehicle was taken to dealership were they proformed a drb computer diagnostic and fuel pump test. No problem was found.
The converter in the automatic transmission has blown up and almost caused an accident. The manufacterer also installed a piston incorrectly.
While driving at various speeds vehicle stalled without warning. Dealer said this was an intermittent problem, and could not determine the cause of the problem.
