Front Air Bag Problems of Plymouth Neon - part 1

Air bag failure. Struck a deer in front of car. Front bumper, grill, hood, driver side front fender, headlight and windshield were damaged quite severely. Damage is approximately $4000. Speed was 45 mph. Deer was large buck, 12 points. Neither air bag deployed.

: the contact stated while the vehicle was in a drive-thru, both frontal airbags deployed. The contact was not in the vehicle when this occurred, but stated nothing was hit or run over. Both front windows shattered and the occupants sustained minor injuries. The vehicle has not been seen by a mechanic.

A 1990 chevy impala turned left in front of my son while he was driving my car, he was going 30 mph he hit the other car in the b pillar, both side doors with the front of my car. Neither air bag was deployed on my car. The passenger door would not open due to the fender being jammed back into the door. The bumper is dangling about 4-5 inches from where it should be. The passenger and driver injured their knees on the dash when they slid forward from the impact. The seat belts held.

When turning into a parking lot dual airbags deployed inadvertently. As a result, when air bags deployed they caught on fire. Driver sustained burns to the chest.

While driving srs light appeared on the dashboard and remained on. This caused t horn to become inoperative. Vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection, and mechanic determined that the clock spring needed to be replaced and replaced it. The consumer was concered about the recall for Chrysler Mini vans with the same problems he is having since both vehicles use the same parts.

While driving 35 mph the consumer was involved in an accident. The consumer stated the air bags should have deployed.

Front airbag failed to function in accident with severe damage to bumper and hood.

The consumer's children were driving 25 mph when the vehicle was struck head-on by another vehicle. None of the air bags deployed . There were three injuries.

On every Plymouth Neon in the color of blue, the paint is chipping from the hood to the trunk. Also, when it rains, the inside of the car on the floors and in the trunk gets wet and in order to get the water out, it has to be vacuumed. I believe that something should be done about this. After having to invest a lot of money in something that you expect to have for many years, this should not be happening unless it is caused by you.

I wish the air bag would have worked. It would have save my daughter getting 30 stiches in her mouth. Please let me know if you will check into this.

While traveling approximatley 35 mph heard an air hissing noise . Passenger's air bag has pushed upward on its cover, but has not fully deployed. Dealership has not examined vehicle to determine cause of problem. Please provide any additional information / attachments.

While driving 25 mph vehicle accelerated and then hit an embankment, and rolled once upin impact, neither airbag deployed. Consumer was not injured.

Neither air bag in front deployed when involved in an accident. Driving on highway at approximately 65 mph, went to pass a vehicle traveling 35 mph on interstate, when about to pass, other vehicle changed lanes and slammed on brakes. Vehicle stopped operating in left lane while other vehicle continued on. Dealership has not examined vehicle. Please provide any additional information/attachments.

Consumer was driving into an intersection of an apartment complex and another vehicle was traveling in same direction and hit her head-on . Seat belt wasn't secured properly, and airbag didn't deploy. Dealership was aware problem. Consumer sustained some injuries.

Vehicle was involed in a frontal collision. Vehicle went over a ramp and rolled over three times. Upon impact, neither air bag deployed. Dealer was not notified at this time. Feel free to provide any further information.

Airbags deployed unexpectedly and suddenly, resulting in minor injuries. A recall has been issued on the vehicle for inadvertent deployment of the airbags. However, this vehicle was not included due to VIN. Manufacturer has been notified.

While driving on local street, traveling 25mph vehicle in front stopped suddenly, and collided with consumer's vehicle. Upon impact, neither airbags deployed. Hasn't contacted dealer nor the manufacturer yet.

Vehicle was involved in a frontal collision of 30-35 mph impact with another vehicle, and both air bags faied to deploy. Dealer notified. Feel free to provide further details.

If not for my daughter wearing her seatbelt she may have been seriously injured for the air bags did not inflate during a crash.

Consumer was traveling at 40mph and vehicle t-boned another vehicle, and both airbags: side door didn't deploy. Driver was injured. Dealer will be contacted.

While driving on a normal road condition at 40 mph, both air bags unexpectedly deployed, and caused injuries to driver right side waist/hand, and up to shoulder. Dealer notified.

Consumer was driving on the highway and another vehicle hit her from the side . Consumer was driving at 45mph at time of crash. Upon impact, airbags didn't deploy.

Steering wheel locked up on several occasions, one incident while driving led to vehicle collision due to loss of control, violent deployment of air bags resulted in burns to driver (chest,arms). Mjs.

While driving about 40 to 45 mph, consumer hit a gravel causing vehicle to slid and hit a guardrail. Upon impact, the airbag's experienced no deployment, but no injuries were sustained.

Consumer has a brake problem. When applying brakes there is noise. Also, engine head gasket had an oil leak, and she took it to the garage. Then, she took vehicle back to dealership. Mechanic replaced head gasket. Brake drum was pitted, and mechanic told her that nothing was wrong. Finally, passenger's airbag panel was bulging on the dashboard. There were no lights on the airbag modular.

While traveling at about 35 mph had a collison and neither air bag deployed. -.

Air bags deployed while driving on wet pavement. Vehicle started ,went off the side of the road. Something hit underneath the car, and both airbags deployed and shattered the front windows on the passenger's and driver's sides.

Vehicle was involved in a frontal impact at 20-25 mph and neither air bag deployed. Dealer is not aware of the problem.

Vehicle was being driven across uneven pavement and a small pothole, and the drivers airbag deployed which caused vehicle to run into the curve, and the passenger's air bag deployed. Was travelling about 25mph due to construction on the road. Chrysler contacted and warranty is expired.

Started applying abs brakes at 30mph, brake pedal went to floor. Vehicle failed to stop & rearended another vehicle. Neither air bag deployed. Vehicle being repaired at mechanic's.

On dirt road doing 20-25mph, when dual air bags deployed. Slammed brakes. Damaged underneath. Driver lost some hearing. Passenger had bruises on leg. Taking vehicle to dealer.

When taking vehicle out of park into drive, the vehicle's throttle stuck, causing the vehicle to increase speed, resulting in an accident. Brakes failed to stop vehicle. No deployment of driver/passenger's air bags upon impact.

Vehicle was invovled in two accidents. First accident was between two vehicles at an impact of 35 mph, and the second accident occurred at an impact of 45 mph. Upon both impacts, air bags failed to depoly. Dealer/manufacturer notified. Can NHTSA provide additional information on this matter.

While reversing both frontal air bags deployed prematurely. Driver sustained light bruises and eye irritation from the contents of the air bags.
