Manifold/header/muffler/tail Pipe problems of the 1996 Plymouth Voyager

Three problems related to manifold/header/muffler/tail pipe have been reported for the 1996 Plymouth Voyager. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Manifold/header/muffler/tail Pipe problem

Failure Date: 12/06/2001

Oil galley plug failed, sprayed 2 qts oil on exhaust manifold, smoke, flames.

2 Manifold/header/muffler/tail Pipe problem

When driving and applying force to the brake pedal consumer noted excessive noise from the rear supension, consumer contacted the dealer, the dealer cut down the rear drum; also, the tail pipe rusted out.

3 Manifold/header/muffler/tail Pipe problem

Oil leaked from the head gasket. This problem had existed since 45k miles. The dealer was contacted and stated that most of the vehicles from 1995-1999 are experiencing problems and Chrysler is aware of them. The specific vehicles are: Plymouth Dodge, cirrus, stratus, breeze, sebring, town & country, caravan, and Voyager. TSB-09-05-98 the vehicle loses 1 qt. Of oil, the oil gets on top of the steering rack and exhaust manifold, and can cause a serious fire. Scc.
