Tank Assembly problems of the 1997 Plymouth Voyager

Eight problems related to tank assembly have been reported for the 1997 Plymouth Voyager. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 02/20/2002

Vehicle locked up and shut down without prior warning. Fuel gauge acknowledged a fuel tank. But there was no gasoline, and vehicle shut down.

2 Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2001

Headlights are dim, can't see very far down the road, unsafe to drive at night. Premature failure of fuel gauge sending unit. Dt.

3 Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 03/18/2001

Fuel gauge sensor failed. Failing to show empy fuel tank. Vehicle stalled and was towed.

4 Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 10/29/2000

Gas gauge works improperly.

5 Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 07/17/1998

The rubber in the gas tank deteriorated, causing both venting tubes sides to leak gasoline, if ignited could start a fire. Dealer is replacing the gas tank.

6 Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 10/02/1996

Gas tank baffles failed.

7 Tank Assembly problem

The fuel tank would not take more than a half a tank of fuel. The dealer has been notified.

8 Tank Assembly problem

When accelerating / making a turn, and the fuel tank is 3/4 quarter full, the gas tank rolls against the chassis. Dealer placed foam pads between the fuel tank and the chassis which did not correct the problem. Pads have been replaced twice and now dealer says that nothing can be done.
