Four problems related to side/window air bag have been reported for the 1998 Plymouth Voyager. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Driver side and passenger side air bags deployed while vehicle was in motion. There was no crash, no pothole, no bump on the road, nothing to triggger the airbag to go off. As a result I suffered a burn mark to my chin and neck and brusing on my chest and forearm. Passenger was also hit I face no visible marks and children were terribly shaken.
I own a 1998 Plymouth Voyager minivan (VIN #2p4gp4436wr729216) and have experienced a clockspring failure which resulted in my driver's side airbag, horn and cruise controll not working. Even though there is a current recall for this problem on this model year vehicle, the manufacturer stated I was not covered since the build date was two days after the end of the covered period. This seems very unreasonable to me and indicates that maybe the recall was too narrow.
Was driving at 45mph. Saw an object on the road (looked like tire/wheel), but didn't have enough time to avoid the obstacle. My van ran over the obstacle, and hit the undercarriage of the vehicle. We did not feel any impact at all. After driving over the obstacle, both the driver and passenger side air bags deployed. Contacted Chrysler. They sent a special investigator to check the vehicle. After 1 month, received a letter from Chrysler declining any manufacturing responsibility in this matter. I would appreciate any assistance you could provide. Thanks.
When involved in a head-on crash, there was no deployment of the driver's side or passenger's side air bags. Front end damages totaled $4. 300. 00. The van is being repaired. Please provide any further information.
