45 Transfer Case problem of the 2012 Porsche Cayenne

Failure Date: 01/08/2018

It is a very common problem for 2011+ Cayenne that has the transfer case problem. The car won't accelerate smoothly during 1-2 gear and 3-4-5 gear. It is very dangerous while trying to merge on the freeway. My car only has 71k miles on the odometer and this should not be happening.

46 Transfer Case problem of the 2012 Porsche Cayenne

Failure Date: 12/26/2017

Faulty transfer case the car had a bumpy and violent shudder at slow speeds when attempting to accelerate. Feels like misfiring and then grinding and the car does not respond to the accelerator. It was dangerous when attempting to accelerate into traffic. I called to make an appointment and with a simple explanation they diagnosed it over the phone. The dealership acknowledged that these transfer cases were failing regularly and that the parts were redesigned and even stocked in the dealership since it happens so regularly. With a basic search of the internet it is apparent that this problem is widespread and that Porsche has acknowledged the design flaw but they are not choosing to recall. This is a safety issue and should be replaced by the manufacturer whether the car is under warranty or not.

47 Transfer Case problem of the 2016 Porsche Cayenne

Failure Date: 11/01/2017

Last week I had my car for 20000 mile service and the technician noticed vibration with acceleration and advised the transfer case be replaced which was done 10/28. I contacted Porsche USA as I was concerned with this being a relatively new vehicle and the problem with transfer case so fast. I was told it was a manufacturing defect and the transfer case was replaced with a re manufactured one and not a new one. When I wrote to them I was contacted today and told that was not a possibility. This being a relatively new well maintained vehicle and this being a manufacturing defect I prefer a new transfer case and extended warranty. I believe that is very reasonable. Can you please look into the matter and advise.

49 Transfer Case problem of the 2011 Porsche Cayenne

Failure Date: 05/01/2017

The transfer case clunks and grinds when driving turning and in reverse with only 60,000 miles on the car and the dealer said it needs to be replaced, from what I have read this is a wide spread problem.

50 Transfer Case problem of the 2011 Porsche Cayenne

Failure Date: 01/16/2017

I was pulling forward on a level city street and turning left from a stop sign. There was a significant amount of shuddering and feeling of a loss of power. This was a significant safety issue due to oncoming traffic. Over a period of several months this had been increasing in severity but the dealer could not identify the problem. I took it to the dealer and was able to repeat the problem for them. They identified the transfer case as the issue. It was replaced. I also had to replace the tires due to the dealers identification that the transfer case had caused differential tread wear damage to a rear tire. As a former military aviator, there is no doubt in my mind that this is a safety issue. Porsche needs to identify what the issues are (design, manufacturing, servicing, etc) and remedy them. Surprisingly, this is a known problem because the service adviser informed me that they keep transfer cases in stock. They retail for $3944, plus the new vent kit (mine does not have it) and then add labor, and tires if they have been damaged. That is a lot of expensive inventory to have on hand if Porsche wants to claim there is not a problem.
