SAAB 95 owners have reported 5 problems related to power train (under the power train category). The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Have a 2011 9-5 aero and just hit 58k. Very recently I've been noticing the popping/thudding when driving away quickly with the wheel turned, when pulling away from a stop sign and turning left/right. I also can force the car to exhibit the binding/grinding deep noise when in first with the wheel turned almost at lock either right or left with very little throttle depression. Reading any SAAB forum I could, and speaking to dealers and reading service bulletins in relation to this car, all other SAAB vehicles with the haled 4. 0 system which debuted on the SAAB 9-3 turbox, it is very evident this is not a small amount of affected vehicles. From what it looks like, every owner of a SAAB that had the all wheel drive system provided by haldex has these catastrophic failures of the system causing the inability to drive once the system shuts itself off, or locks which could potentially leave owners stranded or cause the prop-shaft to bind, then lock at speed and cause the rear wheels to bind and hop and lock causing a potential accident. The dealers have admitted to the system having design flaws and updated parts and redesigned components have been released multiple times. If this is an admitted design flaw and potentially dangerous, it should be a recall as dealers are charging thousands and thousands of dollars to fix issues that are imminent and not at the fault of the owners. Quotes to fix this issue range from $3-7,000 and that is unacceptable. It needs to be recalled and covered for repairs for the owners of these vehicles. A simple search on xwd issues on google can bring up dozens of forum links with large counts of page numbers for each of complaining owners listing their issues and discrepancies and prices to fix this bogus issue caused by a flawed design.

This car had a simultaneous failure involving the steering, xenon headlamps and power train, specifically the all wheel drive system. All systems need to be replaced but gm has not made replacement parts available, has not corrected production errors in current parts. Current parts on market fail with 10000 miles.

The contact owns a 2004 SAAB 9-5. The contact stated that while traveling various speeds, the vehicle suddenly stalled. The vehicle was taken to a private mechanic where it was found that the crank shaft position sensor, fuel pump, and the twice unit needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not contacted about the failure. The failure mileage was 51,108.

My car was built in 2002 as well as others reported, I purchased it used 3 years ago with 64k miles. My direct ignition control in 2003 9-5 linear sedan 2. 3t ceased. Upon research, my dic is the original part 9197559 tk3. 6 2000-2002 are recalled and 'some' 2003 VIN's. With the over abundance of dic failures with the exact same part number, these need to be recalled as a whole. Upon removal of the dic, the engine is leaking at the seams of the head from where the bolts are located, inside the dic and engine section is perfectly clean. Bolts in the head of the engine loose, 1 was lifted out enough to just remove straight out. Car blows blueish smoke when it was starting, switches are defective (gm known issue), oil / engine / head known issues, suspension known issues (among other serious SAAB failures). I have spent thousands of dollars on this vehicle since purchase. The known recalls must be expanded to include the parts, not just 'year' or 'specific VIN'. This was supposed to be a safe, reliable car but instead is causing serious financial issues. Please help the owners all over the world, we should not have to pay for all of this. . We already paid for their 'bailout'!
sincerely~ can not take any more repairs!!!.

Transmission died at 70,000 miles, with no warning, causing brakes and other components of the car to fail, nearly causing an accident on a major thoroughfare. The car was smoking all the way home and I barely made it. I was shaking by the time I got out of my car.
