The contact owns a 2007 Saturn Aura. The contact stated that when starting the vehicle he would have to use excessive force to get the shifter into gear. In addition, while driving at various speeds the brake lights illuminated and would go out once the brakes were depressed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where they advised him that the brake light switch failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The failure recurred seven months later. The manufacturer was contacted and they offered no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000. The current mileage was approximately 90,000. The VIN was unavailable.
The contact owns a 2007 Saturn Aura. The contact stated that the vehicle suddenly accelerated forward with the gear shift selector placed into park. He then attempted to place the vehicle into reverse but no matter what gear the vehicle was in, the vehicle continued to accelerate forward causing him to crash into his front porch. The failure was similar to recall 09v073000 (power train: automatic transmission: lever and linkage: column shift). The contact owns a 2007 Saturn Aura. The contact stated that the shift cable broke as a result the vehicle kept moving forward even though he had placed the shifter into 'r' and the shift indicator showed 'r'. He was surprised that the vehicle moved forward instead of backward. Fortunately, there was no one or objects immediately before the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to the dealer who stated the transmission shift cable had to be replaced. The manufacturer was contacted who was unable to assist because the vehicle was out of warranty and it was not included in recall 09v073000 (power train: automatic transmission: lever and linkage: column shift).
