general problems of the 2005 Saturn ION - part 1

This vehicle has an electrical issue from time to time seemingly out of nowhere. There is no power steering it just shuts off sometimes it’ll stay off for an hour sometimes it’ll stay off for weeks and I can’t figure out how to fix it. It randomly fixes itself same can be said for the air conditioning and the driver side, headlight all of these electrical functions, seemingly turn themselves up or down for no apparent reason.

My key is stuck in the I can take it out the O2 seners not reading.

When pressing the gas pedal 2/3 of the way down the pedal got stuck causing the engine to rev high while driving forward. I had to put the car in neutral, shut the engine off and manually get the gas pedal unstuck by reaching down to the floor and pulling the pedal upwards with my hands. Also I had no floor mats in my car for the pedal to get stuck on. This has happened on multiple occasions.

Power steering intermittently fails at random and steering wheel suddenly becomes immovable nearly causing serious accidents and endangerment to myself, my family, and others drivers on the roads.

I turn my turn signals on and nonthing happens in the frontline bulbs are brand new doesn't matter back turn signal work,front turn signal dont. This has been happening since forever my inlaws didn't know we didn't know until they gave car. So don't know how long seems like forever.

Dash lights go out and all systems are you functioning property.

Daytime running light turn signal dont work for the passenger side which can cause a safety problem to other drivers.

Driver lights will not work switched bulb and checked fuses.

La quinta chev/caddilac replaced my ignition per the gm recall a couple of years ago and now the ignition is locking up again. What can I do?.

Turned the key to the on position, dash lights come on but nothing happens, the car will not turn over. Tried to remove the key but it is stuck in acc position. All recalls have been done to my knowledge. After reading other reviews with similar problems I am now concerned with it turning itself off on it's own.

My car's battery keeps dying on me. It will do so if I'm driving or if it is park and sits. The battery drains. I am still waiting for this to be fixed. The car is at the dealership and I had to call them so that they could tell me that the part isn't available anywhere and I have to wait. They wanted me to pick up the car and drive it off the lot and this car isn't saved to drive (reason why I had it towed there). I requested a loaner vehicle while the part comes in on 1/29/15 and I'm waiting to here back from the manager but have not received a loaner car.

Copy of email letter to ms. Barra (general motors) regarding frustration of being a Saturn owner. 2005 Saturn Ion. The consumer stated she never came close, to getting the gas mileage as advertised. She also experienced problems with the suspension, and for a little over a year, she had problems with the vehicle not starting. On one occasion, when she inserted the key into the trunk, the entire trunk lock fell into the car. The consumer received a recall notice, regarding the ignition. However, the parts were not available.

Vehicle was delivered to local car dealership for gm factory warranty recalls. The car was being driven by two service technicians when the vehicle ignited in the trunk and rear seat area. The fire department determined that the cause of the fire were the rear break lines that had sagged onto the exhaust system. Service technicians were unaware of the work to be done on the vehicle. The vehicle was supposed to receive NHTSA recalls 14v047, 14v171, and 14v153. None of the recalls were furnished while in the possession of the car dealership and could possibly have contributed to the fire.

The contact stated that while driving approximately 40 mph the driver made a sudden turn and the engine erroneously turned completely off causing the driver to loose control of the vehicle and drive down an embankment. 2005 Saturn Ion. Consumer writes in regards to air bag malfunction and faulty ignition problems. The consumer stated he was involved in an accident, a couple of years ago, and the air bags did not deploy. He also has paperwork for the ignition problems he experienced.

I have a 05 a Saturn 05 Ion a recall. And twice in the past week died while I was driving it to work, no no accident or injury, but I am very concered, and don't know what I should do. I already took the keys an clicker off the key ring, I am very concerned. Richard, blais heyuas2@live. Com.

When driving the battery light will appear and then the car cuts off. Once restarting the battery light goes away and doesn't appear. Has happen two additional times before. I have had the battery replaced by gm dealer and a few months after in April it still occurred. The power steering assist was replaced and the same time the battery was.

As I was driving, suddenly I heard the chime in the car go off a few times rapidly, and at the same time the power steering light ('pwr str') came on on the instrument panel. I proceeded to go straight, then I had to make a left turn. At this time I realized there was no power steering in the car, and it was very difficult to turn the steering wheel. I continued to have a problem steering the vehicle, and I had to find an empty area to park the vehicle. It was a scary experience, and an unsafe situation as well. After I parked the car and turned off the vehicle, I started it again, and the power steering light was off. Steering after that was normal. I am very concerned that this will happen again, compromising my safety and other vehicle operators in my vicinity.

The contact stated that while making a left turn, the vehicle suddenly stalled as the power steering seized and caused the contact to crash into a concrete street divider. The contact sustained back injuries. A police report was not filed. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who was unable to diagnose the cause of the failure. The contact indicated that during the crash, the radiator and condenser were damaged and both were replaced by the mechanic. The manufacturer was not notified in reference to the defect. Making a left hand turn the automobile shut off and on dash display read pwr steering coolant the car was difficult to steer to the side of the road. Once pulled to the side of the road I turned the key over and instantly the car was like new driving ok till I got home. Googled the problem and saw many power steering complants on the Saturn Ions.
