Lately have been noticing by myself and others, strong fuel smell around car. While cleaning out various paperwork, I found a recall letter dated 8/2015 regarding cracked fuel tank inlet control valve. I really need this problem looked into as I am hesitant to drive with the horrid gas smell. Please advise as soon as possible. Thank you.
I purchased this vehicle and the previous owner did not take it for recalls. It has 6 recalls. . The car seems to have a leak by gas tank, smells like gas. I got temporary plates for now but car needs to go to emissions.

The vehicle was not taken to be diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 09v419000 (fuel system, gasoline). Fuel leaking from the top of the fuel tank.
My car is leaking fuel from the plastic supply that connects the tank and the line. This issue was recalled in certain Ions of the same year, but not for my VIN despite the issue being exactly the same as the recalled part. I noticed a puddle of gasoline under my car and observed a substantial leak from the supply while my car was idling and after shutting the engine off. Unsure if it is also leaking when the engine is off and cold.
Back in Jan. 2016 I started smelling gas when my car was warming up, I'm in mn so it's cold then. After fa couple days of this I looked under my car, omg, I had kinda a slow drip, which turned into a fast drip within a few days. I did research and found out that there was a recall on some Saturns that were sold in different states, I called gm, they told me I needed to go to a gm dealer to see if it was the part that was under recall, if it was, they would pay to replace the part under recall and my gas lines, yeah right!! the dealership charged me $50 and told me it wasn't the recall part. So I had to pay to get new gas lines. After it was fixed I could still smell gas. . I should've taken it back right away but I didn't. Now, here I sit again, not being able to drive my car because of this again! this whole deal is a bunch of bullshit, does someone have to get seriously injured or die in an explosion before the whole fuel system, tank, lines ect. . Get a recall on it? I don't have the money to fix it or another $50 for them to tell me it's not the recall part!.
Tl-the contact owns a 2006 Saturn Ion. The contact stated that while parked at the fuel station, there was fuel put into the fuel tank to the full level and drove the vehicle to the residence and observed that the fuel level was down to a quarter and noticed a strong fuel odor coming from the fuel tank as the check engine warning indicator illuminated. The failure recurred on several occasions. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 255,000. Sh.
Tl-the contact owns a 2006 Saturn Ion. The contact stated that while driving 45 mph, the vehicle loss power and the scs light illuminated. The contact stated that he had to pull over and open the fuel tank and close it again in order for the vehicle to start. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 09v419000 (fuel system, gasoline) however the manufacturer refused to honor the recall because the mileage on the vehicle exceeded the warranty. The failure mileage was 269,000. Ad.
There has been a strong fuel order for several months to which my mechanic stated today there was a crack in the top of my fuel tank . After checking the recall notices and thousands of complaints about the smell of gas and performance issues, come to find out the recall is only limited to select states. Clearly there is a significant issue with the fuel system that gm should recall across the board due to risk of fire and death. Shame on gm for limiting this recall due to their sub-par parts and irresponsible management of preserving the safety and life of their clients.
The contact owns a 2006 Saturn Ion. The contact stated that the odor of fuel was present outside the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who discovered a fuel line crack near the rear driver side wheel. The mechanic also stated that the fuel tank was rusted. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified. The contact was informed that the vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign number 09v419000 (fuel system, gasoline). The failure mileage was 115,000.
We noticed the smell of gas and a puddle of gas in front of the rear tire on the driver side. I crawled under the car and looked at the gas lines. They were corroded very badly from just in front of the tire all the way back to the gas tank. This is where there are many bends in the pipeline which probably caused the rust protective coating to fail. The gas dripped for quite a while. I have had cars much older than the Saturn which did not corrode the gas lines. Online searching shows this is a fairly common problem with the Saturn Ion to fail just in front of the rear driver side. This has a high potential to cause a fire or poison smells if the car were parked inside. Fortunately there was no fire and it was not inside my garage. I hope someone does something before people are injured.
I was driving back from school all of a sudden the low fuel came up so I filled up my gas tank and then it went empty by the time I got home from griffin. When I cut the car off I got out and saw gas leaking from under my car and saw the long trail of gas that I had trailed into my driveway.
Our son had my wife's 2006 Saturn Ion at college 200 miles from home. Gas dripping from underneath car, immediately told him to take it to dealer. Dealer confirmed fuel tank return line cracked. Removed fuel tank and replaced fuel module assembly. Total bill 685. 63. Can not get no satisfaction from Saturn on the recall of this vehicle. What difference what state this occurs in.
