I noticed that my car smelled like gas, and then when I parked and got out I saw a puddle of gas under my car. My car is the Saturn Ion 'redline' for some reason I can't pull up my car only a regular Saturn Ion but my car is different. I could tell the gas was coming from the top of my tank. When I dropped the tank I could see that the fuel lines on my fuel pump were broken! the lines were broke right at the pump. On the Saturn and redline forum I see that my car isn't the only redline to have this problem my car only has approx 137000 miles on it, the fuel pump should not have broke like that. There is recalls on some Saturn Ions in certain states for the fuel pump lines breaking just like mine did. My car was put together in tennessee I bought it brand new in 2006 in new jersey and now I live in kentucky. I don't believe I should have to pay for a new fuel pump when this problem is obviously not just limited to Saturn Ions in arizona and nevada. My kids and myself got sick from the gas fumes and we're lucky not to of had some sort of spark hit the puddle of gas under my car.
Gas leaking from tank area when driving and sitting . There is a recall for fuel pump for 2006 Ion but don't say this one .
In October of last year (2016) I started smelling gas really bad so I took my car to a local repair shop and had it checked out (my local dealership is about 20 miles away). They said it was the fuel pump and it needed to be replaced right away and in my mind all I was thinking was my car could catch on fire so I had them repair it right away( $437. 79). Later I find out that is under a special coverage recall and it could only be repaired by the dealership for the repairs to be covered. I contacted customer care and was told to submit the paperwork and they would check into it . I submitted paperwork in January 2017 and have waited for response , now in March 2017 I decide to contact them because I have had no need they tell me that my request was denied because the reimbursement campaign ended in 2014. I was told that if I have the problem again they would be happy to repair it at the dealership. My car is 11 years old and 104,050 miles on it. I wold hope that the pump would last longer than a few thousand miles because from what I understand it has a mileage cap. So in short I am out almost $500. 00 .

Saturn Ion recall on fuel pump module; I am writing due to the recall that replaces the fuel pump module, but does not replace the fuel lines. I do not understand why the recall does not cover to replace both fuel lines and module, considering they are both affected and are a high risk factor. After replacing my module, my car leaked more fuel because my fuel lines were in such bad shape, and at the time I could not afford to replace my fuel lines. I could then only drive my car to my house from the dealership and leave it since it is far to dangerous to drive until I can save up enough money to replace the fuel lines.
I started smelling gasoline and seen that the fuel pump was part of a recall. I've only had this car a few months and it came from florida which was one of the states in the recall.

The contact had to ride back home with her vehicle still not repaired with a continuing fuel leak. The contact was very concerned that her safety was at risk with her vehicle still being unpaired. The dealer mentioned that there was special coverage for certain parts under a warranty. The manufacturer had been contacted and did not give out much information since the contact stated that that she was speaking with her attorney. The vehicle currently has not been repaired at this time. The failure mileage was 45,000. Tf.
I recently bought this vehicle and started smelling gasoline fumes while driving the car and after the car has been parked. Looked online and seen there was a recall for the fuel pump module but only in certain states. This car came from florida but was purchased in kentucky. Im really getting scared to drive my own car out of fear it may ignite and cause a fire or maybe even blow up. Please I need help with some kind of recall on this vehicle to get this problem fixed! seems to be a problem considering there was a recall on these vehicles. Thank you.

I smelt gas so I brought it to my mechanic. He says that the fuel pump had a crack at the inlet. I see that there are 2006 and 2007 Saturn Ions that were recalled because of this issue. I was curious why or if there were similar complaints for the range that VIN falls within. . Read more...

Have fuel leak fuel leak from fuel pump module top of tank dripping aheadof left rear wheel.
My fuel pump module needs replacing. No accident occurred to initiate this issue. Started smelling a fuel odor and it has gotten stronger over the past few months. This problem seems premature, everything that I read online says a good fuel pump should last at least 300,000 miles.

On may 14th, I parked my vehicle and the windows were down. We smelt a strong order of gas coming from the rear of my Saturn. My friend laid uder the car with a flash light and noticed gas coming down the side of the fuel tank. He had me bring it in to him on the 15th to his auto hobby shop and he placed it on the lift only to discover that all sides of the tank have presense of gas. He told me he needs to drop the tank because he can't see the direct source of where the gas is coming from. I went online and saw that there was a recall with simalar description of symptoms I have noticed. When I called my local dealer, he said that my problem was addressed and already handled whe the recall first came out. I am having the same problem it may seem. If it is the same issue with the fuel pump and it was replaced by a dealership as stated it needed to be, wouldnt it be gm's responsibilty if the fuel pump they replaced it with was also faulty? I drive 3 grand babies around on a daily basis and this is not safe. I could understand if it was not on recall and there was just a radom thing that happened. Could you pesse advise me on steps to follow?.
I had to replace my fuel pump back in March of 2013. It cost me almost $300. 00. Later I found out it was on recall. How do I get my money back? I have the receipt.

I have a severe gas leak in my car. The gas smell was faint at first. Then I started having problems starting my car in mornings or evenings. Then the gas became unbearable & you could see a constant drip of gasoline coming from the back passenger side of my car. I felt so scared to drive it that I took it to the nearest place. They diagnosed it as the fuel pump. I called Saturn & they said they would have to charge me $100 to see if it's the actual "special policy" that's on my car.

Noticed a strong fuel odor after driving and when parked coming from the rear of my vehicle. Took it to a gm dealer. Dealer found a fracture in the plastic hose of the fuel pump, causing a fuel leak. Found out there was a recall for this exact problem in other states but my state was not included. I feel it should be. A fuel leak is a safety hazard.
My daughter's car started to leak fuel. We took it to a Chevrolet dealer and were told it is a "frequent" problem with the fuel pumps on Saturns. The pump was replaced which remedied the problem. Upon a "google" search I found an existing recall but only for certain states???? we live in pennsylvania and were not a state that is covered by the recall. Obviously the problem is a national problem and the recall should be revised to such.

On September 29, 2012, the NHTSA issued a recall notice, on its website, for broken fuel lines to fuel pumps to all Saturn Ion sedans from 2007 and newer, in addition to a larger number of other gm vehicles all 2007 and newer. I have a 2006 Saturn Ion sedan and the same issue happened to my car on September 28, 2012, one day before I was aware of the recall. The plastic part connecting the fuel line to the fuel pump cracked, spilling gas around the car and underneath. Repairs were $856 and luckily I had no fire. The fuel pump module and connecting fuel lines all needed to be replaced. The recall as noted by the NHTSA is limited to only certain states and only to 2007 and newer vehicles, but the recall needs to be extended to include 2006 Saturn Ion models, and more states based upon my similar issue. The NHTSA said that 40,000 gm vehicles are affected but I think the problem is larger. I have the parts if needed. I purchased the car used from a Saturn dealership in pennsylvania and I now live in michigan, neither of which is listed as a state involved in the recall. You need to look into this further please, before someone dies because of a fire. Gm denies anything at this time and indicates their records do not show the recall as mentioned in their system and my vehicle and VIN # are not listed under any fuel leak related issue or recall.

The fuel pump was leaking, and I had to deal with the gasoline smell every time that I used my car. I paid $798. 94 to have this issue fixed at car-x in des moines, who failed to tell me that this issue was under recall. (recall id # 66616, gm recall id # 090226). I am now going to request reimbursement for this fix.
