Fuel leaking from gas tank area, became aware when passenger cabin filled with fuel vapor ,noticed gas smell for the past few years when walking near rear of vehicle fuel mileage has been terrible since vehicle was only 2 years old. Had vehicle into dealership and complained about mileage, I believe was loosing fuel for a long period of time before this major leak occurred. Now at another dealership and they are telling me I have to pay for the repair to gas tank/sending unit out of my own pocket. This is not what is stated on recall from gm global warranty management on bulletin 09226c dated July 19th 2015.

Failure Date: 10/03/2016

Entire fuel line from gas tank to engine needs to be replaced due to corrosion/rust. Gas is leaking near rear drivers side rear tire from fuel line. Material used for gas line should be non corrosion. My vehicle had fuel tank module recall done 12 months ago and now fuel lines need to be replaced. Fuel lines should never corrode since it may lead to fire.

10 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 10/30/2015

Had a very strong smell of fuel, took in to have checked out . Special coverage on cracked fuel tank inlet control valve. They ended up replacing the fuel tank and filler tube, hose, seal, and cam. Returned car 3 days later still smelling fuel, and sounded like they threw parts on and didn't attach them. Replaced fuel module. Returned car 1 week later still smells strong fuel to be told that fuel pipes are rusted through and gas is still leaking from that. Not covered. They now want $870. 03 to stop the rest of the fuel leak. Only have 61,000 miles on it. How much will be paid to my family when I get blown up in my car from the leaking metal pipes? plastic stuff was all covered. Everything else was covered by special coverage. Why isn't this if this is leaking fuel on the ground too?.

11 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 10/20/2014

2007 Saturn Ion purchased in illinois late October 2013. Moved to north carolina 9/4/2014. As of October 20, 2014 car smelled like gasoline inside and out, as soon as you walked up to the car you could smell the gasoline. The gasoline smell was very strong on the inside as well and was overwhelming and sickening. I looked underneath the vehicle and saw a wet spot on the pavement and then saw gas leaking (dripping) from what I assume is the gas tank. This is a huge concern since the recall on this wasn't a nationwide recall and only affected warm weather states. We have only been in north carolina for a month and a half - missing their warmest time of year. Their theory of warm weather states is not acceptable and they have put my daughter's life in danger!!! I believe a nationwide recall should be issued regarding this defect and compensation to those affected. I will be calling gm asking for a rental while this problem is being fixed. This is the fourth recall on my daughter's car since she has owned it. I honestly feel gm can have this car back and issue a check for the full price that we paid for it in October 2013. What recall will be next??? we do not want this car!!!! please quit putting people's lives in danger gm!.

12 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 09/01/2014

There is a strong odor of gasoline both outside and inside the vehicle. This seems to be a result from some sort of flaw in the plastic supply or return port of the modular reservoir assembly located near the fuel tank. Gm has issued a recall in several states under gm recall no. 090226 and NHTSA campaign id number 09v419000. As this could potentially cause a fire and is massive safety concern, this should be broadened to all states for this model.

13 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 08/08/2014

I don't know what caused it, but I recently started noticing a strong fuel odor around my car within the last month. I crawled underneath the car to check for leaks and determined that the fuel tank has cracked at the seam where the plastic spout was mated/molded to the main part of the plastic fuel tank on the rear side of the tank. Fuel currently leaks from the crack when the tank is approximately more than 3/4 full; especially when accelerating and fuel is forced to the back of the tank. The only replacement part (currently part number 20870462, which replaced the old part number of 25947829) is available from a gm dealership and the retail price is $695.

14 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 04/15/2014

Received recall notice about 3 years ago regarding fuel tank. However, it specified certain states of origin. I disregarded notice since I was not residing in one of those states. My car periodically smells of gas, my check engine light and low performance light goes on/off and my mechanic suggested recall. My suspension issues have required replacement of bearing and sway bar on more than one occasion. My passenger airbag light stays on all the time and dings as a reminder every time I start my vehicle.

15 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2014

My 2007 Saturn Ion is leaking gas. I called the gm (800) number and was told my fuel system had a recall. When I left my vehicle with the gm dealership they called after a few hours stating they replaced the fuel system and I was good to go. A few days later my car smelled like gas again, so I took it back. The manager called me stating, "my fuel tank was cracked". I picked up my vehicle and left. If my fuel tank was cracked they would have related that information the first time. I honestly believe this is a gm issue, because I googled this problem and a lot of consumers with my model car have the same issue.

16 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 11/01/2012

Strong smell of gasoline near gas tank and in cabin when parked or moving, engine on or off.

17 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 08/02/2012

The contact owns a 2007 Saturn Ion. The contact was driving 20 mph when the fuel tank failed, causing the vehicle to become inoperable. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who stated that there was a crack in the fuel tank, which was leaking. The interior of the vehicle was filled with gasoline fumes. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified who advised the contact to take to the dealer for further assistance. The failure and current mileage was 75,000.

18 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 07/04/2012

The vehicle's fuel tank has a hole where the "neck" of the spout meets the tank. This results in a strong smell of gasoline and presents a significant danger.

19 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 06/29/2012

Took my car to a gm dealer regarding the scent of gas in back of the car inc. In the trunk. While doing a scheduled maintenance, they didn't find anything. Took my vehicle to a different dealer and the smell of gas had gotten worse. There was no stain in my driveway. Once the gas tank was moved and then removed, the puddling of gas on the top of the tank was prevalent. Looking closer, the plastic was cracked that was apart of the module.

20 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 04/30/2012

Gas tank/neck part out of ailgenment and smells like something is burning in car.

21 Other Fuel System Tank Assembly problem

Failure Date: 11/26/2007

Since day one of this vehicle which had only 11 miles on it, you can not fill the gas tank. If you go past 1/2 a tank of gas in the car it smells of fuel while sitting or driving. It only has 47,000 miles on the car today and you still have to be very careful to only put a little gas in the tank if you don't want the fumes inside or outside the car. I don't understand why this hasn't been fixed under a recall. It is very scary to drive the car in fear of a fire or explosion. I cannot park this car in my garage as it filled my whole house up with gas fumes which was very nauseating to say the least. This happens while sitting or driving.
