37 Battery problem of the 2006 Saturn ION

Failure Date: 06/10/2008

In 2008 my key was stuck in the ignition not allowing my car to shut off. After several hours in the blazing son with my son, a tow truck came and had to disconnect my battery and take out the ignition relay just to get my car to stop running. My car almost over heated and ran out most my gas. The ignition cylinder and switch was replaced costing over seven hundred dollars. Now in 2012 the same thing has happened again. I was quoted another six hundred and eighty dollars to replace it again. Since I do not have the funds to replace such a costly unexpected repair I am forced to live with a car that I can not drive. My key is stuck in the ignition not allowing me to lock my doors which leaves my car open for anyone to destroy it or rob it. Since you can only access the battery by the truck and the trunk can only be opened by key or automatic key ring. I can no longer access my battery to hook it back up. This is because the only other way to get to open the trunk is by having the seats down in the back and climbing through the trunk to open it. Even if someone else does open the trunk. Connecting the battery and disconnecting the battery in hundred degree weather is not acceptable. Since being diagnosed with an autoimmune disorder I can no longer due such thing. If connected I can start my vehicle. Actually after replacing the ignition relay it starts itself. I see online that the ignition or its parts is an ongoing problem with my vehicle. When is it going to become a recall?.

40 Battery problem of the 2003 Saturn ION

Failure Date: 12/04/2006

I have a 5-speed manual 2003 Saturn Ion . Every time it's cold outside, the car refuses to start. This has happened repeated last winter, and has a couple times this fall, also. Now, that the temperature is staying low, I'm concerned about the time and effort required to make the car start. The radio and lights work fine, indicating there is power getting to this equipment. However, when trying to turn the car over to start, a message pops up saying "service engine. " nothing happens after that. One can almost predict when it will happen. If the temperature gets below freezing, one must be prepared to sit at home until the temperature rises, and allows for the car to start.

43 Battery problem of the 2004 Saturn ION

Failure Date: 06/16/2004

I purchased my 2004 Saturn Ion 3 on Thursday June 10, 2004. On Sunday June 13 there were substantial rains in the atlanta area and I noticed that the trunk was full of approximately 2 inches of standing water around the tire and battery. The box of books in the trunk along with some other personal items were damaged from the water. On Monday June 14, after having had the car in my posession for only 4 days I returned it to the dealership. They advised me on Tuesday June 15 that the hole where the water is supposed to drain out of if the car had a sunroof was left unplugged during manufacturing resulting in the flooding of the trunk. I was able to pick up my car on the morning of Wednesday June 16. Later that afternoon, as I was using the power outlets in the car the turn signals and daytime running lights became inoperable. In order for my turn signals and daytime running lights to work I must unplug whats in the power outlet and turn the ignition off. When I restart the car they are operable again, but if I need to use my power outlets I must use them knowning that I won't have turn signals or daytime running lights. I feel that this is a safety issue because I either have to give up the use of my power outlets or my turn signals and running lights.
