Door Problems of Saturn ION

The contact owns a 2006 Saturn Ion. When the vehicle was turned off and the key was removed from the ignition switch, a beeping sound was heard. The contact had to close the doors in order for the beeping sound to stop. The contact stated that the driver's side door failed to lock with the remote. The contact had to manually lock the driver's side door. The failures occurred without warning. The dealer (o'rielly Chevrolet inc. , 6160 e broadway blvd, tucson, az 85711) was contacted and stated that the contact had to pay to have the vehicle diagnosed. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted at 800-553-6000 and stated that they could not do anything. The contact was advised to call NHTSA. A case number was not provided. The approximate failure mileage was 80,000.

The dealer was not able to open the driver side door and could not continue servicing the vehicle. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 127,000.

Damage is totaling almost $3,000. 00 continues to get worse everday and is growing across the car panels. Even though it is still under warranty, Saturn will not pay denying it's a warranty issue. Car has never been in an accident or near any fires. . . There are no burn marks on car. . . . . Everyone says they have never seen anything like it.

The contact stated a bungy cord was used to keep the door from opening again while driving. The contact then cleaned off heavy dust from the locks to fix the problem. The vehicle had not been to a service dealer. Updated 12/28/2006 - the consumer began having problems with the car shortly after it was purchased. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who claimed there was nothing they could do. The dealer replaced the door seals but that did not help.

Door panels cracked during extreme heat CO worker pointed out that there was a crack on my drivers side passenger side and rear passenger side door the crack on the rear door eventually became a whole chunk vehicle has been in no accidents.

The driver's side door leaks at the top. Condensation gathers on the upper inside of the door and drips on the drivers leg, as well as on the power window/locks switches, which could cause corrosion or a short in the electrical system.

Electrical; door seals loose; car returned up to 3 times since purchase on 7/13/03. Saturn Ion 3 coupe--turn signals burned out w/in one week of each other; requested check of electrical system. July 26, 2003 electrical system checked. Complained about door seal at same time & service dept did not check it out until they replaced the fuse box on July 31. Requested to return vehicle and was told "it would be fixed to my satisfaction". Door seal was not installed properly & I have to take the car back for a fourth time to get this repaired approximately one week from today.
