I am writing to request auto manufacturers and places that rent or loan vehicles. I am a person of short stature and require the use of pedal extensions. Is there any chance of getting something passed to enforce dealerships, auto rental, etc. And manufacturers to install pedals that extend so that a person with my height would be 12 inches away from the airbag?.

When it rains or snows, my driver seat and floor gets wet. There are no water stains around the sun roof nor is there any water damage on the drivers' door. In new england, the car is non-functional in the winter and spring because of this problem. I have taken it to the local Saturn dealership and they have refused to fix it. 2) I have had to replace my front turn signals 3 times in 1. 5 years. I am almost convinced it is a socket problem and not a lightbulb problem. 3) I have had to replace the brakes and rotors twice within a 12 month period. In that time. I have only driven 17,000 miles. Once is understandable. Twice is expensive and ridiculous.
I purchased a 2005 Saturn Ion with 32 miles on it July 11, 2005. On September 22, 2005 while driving my daughter to school in the rain, the car stalled and began to fill with water from the floor up. I had it towed to the dealer for repair and was told the left fron sunroof drain hose was plugged. They said this caused an electrical problem which caused the stall. The service dept. Said they cleaned the drain hose and all was ok. Well, we had a heavy rain, not the first since 11/2005, on August 18, 2007. I was able to start the car, but it stalled right away. In addition, the floor on the driver's side was wet. This occurred on a Saturday and by Monday when the car was towed to the Saturn dealership, there was a "pond" of water on the floor of the car. In addition, the cd player has been replaced because it ate cd's. The new radio worked ok for about 6 month's, but is now unable to pick up reception to any station. Also, at one time, the driver's side door became jammed and could not be opened from the inside or outside. The lock rod and inside door handle were bent. At the same time water was leaking through the driver's side window and the window was off the track and falling into the door. This was also repaired by the dealer because I purchased the extended warranty. This car has been nothing but trouble and I regret purchasing it. I have never had so many problems with a new car and I would not recommend this car to anyone.

I was traveling north on I-95 going about 65 mph in the center lane. All of a sudden I heard a loud boom and I see out of my left sideview mirror, the left side of my bumper flip up into the air. I lost control of my vehicle and it started swerving left and right. My car crossed over the right lane and I was able to pull off onto the shoulder and into a grassy area just north of the glades road exit. When I got out of my vehicle to check the damage, right away I see large pieces of my tire tread laying in the road about 20 feet back. The left side of my bumper is scratched and torn from the car. The tire was completely bald and the tread was pealed off, laying in the street. The panel between my bumper and left rear door is snapped off and hanging by a small piece. I opened the left rear door and the whole inside frame is cracked and in pieces. It looks like when the tire tread peeled off, it beat into the door, side panel and bumper and busted them right off. The tire was not punctured nor did I run over any debris in the road. This is clearly a manufacturer's defect. I changed my tire and put the spare on and drove to a nearby shop to have a new tire put on. I taped up my bumper because it would flap around as I drive. The tire was a firestone tire and it is the original tire that came on my 2004 brand new Saturn Ion. I contacted firestone to explain the situation and make them aware that this is their responsibility. I keep my car in top condition, I get oil changes every 3,000 miles, fill my tires with air every month and I rotate them every other oil change as well. Of course, firestone denied my claim advising the tire had over deflection and that is why the tire tread peeled off the tire. I called firestone and spoke with the paralegal who sent the denial letter. I advised her that firestone is responsible for fixing the damage on my vehicle or paying my $250 deductible to my insurance company in order for them to fix the damage. Firestone denied.
My trunk has started to get water in it. This caused my battery to fail on several occasions. Now that it is winter I had to replace my battery because it froze . The entire inside of my trunk is damaged.
It has rained several times and the water has leaked into the middle console of my car and also around my roof area and all down the sides. The first two time I took it to be fixed they said Saturn couldn't do anything for me because there was no problem and this continued to occur for the next month until it got so bad to start dripping out of my map lights again. Saturn mechanics asked if I was parking on angle, which should not matter, or if I was driving on large angles, and told me again that they were not going to find anything. Saturn just told me that the sunroof had a problem that was unfixable to their knowledge and that scares me. They said that there was no time table on how long it would take to come out with a fix but they were going to do something temporary that should help but if it didn't for me to bring it back in to repeat the process. I feel as though sunroof leaking around my electrical parts is dangerous and that the continuing buildup of moisture is going to eventually do my bodily harm. (1) the water could leak into electrical areas of the car causing a fire and (2) mold could begin to develop in the car from all the moisture which emits vapors that are toxic
a temporary fix has been applied with no guarantee that it will fix it or of a future Saturn recall to fix the sunroof.

During a weekend of thunderstorms my sunroof leaked a large amount of water into the interior of the car. The passenger side of the vehicle was soaked. I got the car back, and during another thunderstorm the car leaked again. The dealership also left my car out in the rain with a known leak for three days on the first trip to the service department. The service manager referred to this leakage problem as a design flaw.
Driving down the highway as usual and all of a sudden, the sunroof glass exploded. Sunroof wasn't even open and glass went all over the other cars on the highway. No objects caused the breakage, didn't drive under an overpass where anything could have been dropped. Never heard of sunroof glass exploding especially when it's not even in use. Went to the dealer where I purchased the vehicle and they said it was not covered under warranty. Gave me an estimate of nearly $600 and essentially told me to take it or leave it.
While driving. Upon stopping the vehicle. The consumer got out to take the child out of the vehicle with the ignition running. The doors locked, and the consumer could not get her child out of the vehicle. Consumer contacted the dealer. However, the problem still exist. Doors locked automatically upon exiting driver's side. Additional service include, the a/c and heater funtion failed due to faulty connection from switch to resistor card, collapse of horn cover causing loss of airbag. Ignition switch failed. The signal and running lamps were inoperative.
The vehicle made noise while driving between 28-32 mph. At all other speeds the vehicle is quiet. The dealer told the consumer it was possibly a design flaw. No one could give the consumer an answer as to what the problem was.
2003 Saturn Ion 1. During cold weather the passenger side window frosts. The controls are set for defrost, air on and blower medium high. Even with the blower on high there is very little air coming from the passenger side defrost outlet. A CO-worker has a similar problem with his Ion. The dealer said the system is operating as designed. 2. The hood latch freezes and the hood cant be opened to add window washer fluid. Sometimes you can get the hood open but you cant relatch the hood completely without pushing the hood release handle down. A CO-worker has a similar problem with his Ion. 3. Some the edges on interior plastic parts on the are very sharp. The worst is the compartment door to the left drivers leg. This popped open and had a sharp rough edge. As I exited the car I cut my leg. I fixed this myself by filling the edge.
I purchased my 2003 Saturn Ion quad 3 on 6-12-2003. I've had nothing but problems with it since the beginning. The transmission slips constantly. A tech from spring hill says this is normal for this type of transmission. Trying to turn left in front of oncoming traffic is a nightmare. This car is in the shop as we speak. The rear quarter panel is cracked and being replaced. The rear bumper is being painted because of scratches from the trunk rubbing. The front bumper is being painted because of runs in the paint. None of the body panels seem to match up. They're attempting to fix a popping noise in the front end. They're replacing the dr side glass because it is severely scratched. It sometimes runs rough at first crank.
