Fuel leaking from gas tank area, became aware when passenger cabin filled with fuel vapor ,noticed gas smell for the past few years when walking near rear of vehicle fuel mileage has been terrible since vehicle was only 2 years old. Had vehicle into dealership and complained about mileage, I believe was loosing fuel for a long period of time before this major leak occurred. It made my wife and myself along with my family dog very sickly. Had into dealership 3 monts ago and was told there was no leak, but they failed to drop tank and inspect as per gm recall 09226. Now at another dealership and they are telling me I have to pay for the repair to gas tank/sending unit out of my own pocket. This is not what is stated on recall from gm global warranty management on bulletin 09226c dated July 19th 2015.

I believe that the power steering issue (recalled recently and received letter) caused my vehicle to be very hard to control on a downslope hill at 12 mph coming up to red light. My car went from the right lane to the left land of 4 lane street and I hit car in front of me. Now, having received information today about the power steering recall, I have an appt. At my local dealership to check on the alignment/suspension and the piece of metal that I believe to be brake pad that a few hours later shot out and hit car next to me in a parking lot when I applied breaks and turned off vehicle ignition. I will know more of what happened once dealershjp runs diagnostics.
There has been at least 4 times that while my car was idling at either a red light, stop sign, or what have you, my car would just shut off after after making a rough idling noise. This scared the crap out of me the first time it happened. If I were to shut my car off & turn it back on, it would then go away. It made me weary of driving because you never knew when or where that could happen. The second incident would be my power stewing. My car would "ding" and the power steering light would come on making my wheel stiffen up immediately. Again, if I would turn the car off and then back on again, the problem would stop. . . For a little bit. Started off at once or twice a week, then once a day maybe, now I can't even go a block from my house without it coming on. Frustrating and dangerous to say the least.
While driving in heavy traffic on rt 95 car stalled and it took a few minutes to restart. Have a terrible time starting the car in morning and its not the battery as its about year old. I thought it might be the cold weather but sometimes it starts sometimes it doesn't. I never know whether its going to start. When this happens it sounds dead. I think there is a problem with the ignition switch. Have talked to other Saturn owners who have same problem and they said a relay switch cured the problem.
2004 Saturn Ion. Consumer writes in regards to electronic power steering failure. The consumer stated she first started having front suspension problems, which the dealer fixed free of charge. The exhaust was leaking and she paid to have it replaced, along with the catalytic converter. Also, the horn stopped working. The consumer received a letter in July 2012, from gm stating the warranty was being extended because the electric power steering could fail. On December 16, 2013, the power steering failed, as the consumer was leaving a parking lot. She had to use extra force to turn the steering wheel. After a couple of minutes, it was back to normal. A test revealed, there was indeed a failure. When the consumer called gm, she was informed the extended warranty had expired on 11/28/13 the consumer no longer owns the vehicle. Updated 02/5/14.
I was driving on the interstate at 65 mph and the power steering light came on and the steering wheel clicked and became stiff. There was no prior indication that anything was wrong. I could no longer turn right and left turns were almost impossible. The brakes started having trouble as well. I almost got in accident because the right side was not working. Then when I made it to a spot and turned the car on and off it was working again. Then about 30 min later it did the same thing again. I had some check the fluid and it was fine and so was the belt. Also, my left indicator will not work. I have taken it to the dealer and several mechanics and it keeps melting the socket.
Power steering repeatedly shows up on the dash and the power steering does seem tight and its a loud clunk when you turn the wheel back and fourth slowly. Its common and there has been a recall in some states a lot of people got this paid for and its 1200 to fix.
The electric steering keeps going out and took it to an authrized Saturn dealer and they said that the would have to check it to see why its going out as there has been recalled on the electric steering in the pontiac g6 which has the same problem and carries the same system and the dealer told me if its not the motor I have to pay 97. 50 for them to find out its not the motor in the steering plus what it cost to fix it there has been problems with the electric steering there should be a full recall on all the one that uses the same part with the ones that have been recalled all ready this is a big safety issue and gm should pay to correct the problem not charge a customer to check whats wrong with it as there is still some warrenty on the car this problem needs fixed and I dont have the money to pay out the car only has 55,600 miles on it shouldnt be having problems like this hope you can help with this issue and get gm to do a recall on this for theses cars power steering failure like that makes the car hard to steer.
I need help, I have a 2003 Saturn Ion, the front end is broke. It swerves all over the road. They recalled many and know what the problem is. Mine they will not fix and I can't afford to pay for it. It's very unsafe and they recalled several models for the same problem and won't fix mine. The warranty just expired and I get no response from any agency. I just bought this car a few years ago and they know its a factory problem and they won't fix my car. Please help, I'm just a hard working guy trying to support his family. My wife is disabled and I struggle to get by and I can't get any help from the car company. Updated 01/28/11.

I sent a letter to gm it was passed to Saturn corp. Ongoing problems never fixed. Started at 19000 miles and continue with mileage at 31000. 2 different service depts. Still have the problems. Blown off by Saturn corp. By rude customer service. First service visit after specifically making an appointment for this lemon resulted in a car wash. The noise tech was not in. I drove 40 miles for a car wash? never went back. Saturn sent a customer satisfaction survey and I replied; "call me". They instructed me to go to another dealer. I did and the service advisor told me it was my rotors making the noise. He then tried to charge me for the repair!!! the vehicle is under warranty. He then said that they will do it at no charge after I protested. I received the car back, said thank you and left. When I got about a mile from the dealership, the problems were still there (noise and vibration from the front passenger side of the vehicle). I called him from my cell phone and told him and he said ;"ok, we will get you in sometime during the week so we can spend more time with it". Could you imagine how I would have felt if I had actually agreed to pay? I was very upset. Saturn corp. Called me after about 2 weeks and asked me how it went and I told them it did not go well. They contacted the service manager and after a while, he called me. I told him that I would come back in after the holidays. I called him to set an appointment just after the new year. We set one up on a Saturday morning at the dealership. I showed up, he did not. I was taken care of by a service advisor. After checking the car out, he said that they needed to change the "rack". So, I had to come back again. I picked it up the next day. Here is the bottom line; now the car drifts, to the right to be exact, OH, and my vibration is still there along with the noise in the front end. I do not feel safe driving this vehicle. I believe it is a lemon or there is something else someone is not telling me!.
2005 Saturn Ion purchased 3,20,2005. Front-end makes noise when rolling over bumps and/or turning.
The vehicle shook uncontrollably which made the vehicle hard to maneuver. The brakes shook along with the steering wheel.
By 3500 miles (after 1500mi when we could have returned it), the front passenger turn signal burnt out. The car was also sputtering when we started the engine. The mechanic found a cracked head, that we were told was probably present when we purchased the car; had we known we would've returned the car. We were given a rental car, but had to drive 45 min one way to get to Saturn of green bay. Within a month, the front driver turn signal had burnt out. The wiring was replaced while we waited 2 hrs with our 3 year old. We had to drive 1 hr 1way to Saturn of appleton for repairs. In Aug 2004, the car was making a noise when we turned onto a steep grade. In mi for vacation, we had to drive over 1 hr 1way to Saturn of troy; the swaybar and mounting brackets had to be fixed. We waited for over 2 hrs with our son while it was fixed. In sept 2004, the front passenger side turn signal had to replace the resistor. We drove 1 hr 1 way for the repair, and had to wait 2 hrs with our son. We had asked about the cruise making a funny noise, but it was checked and we were told it was fine. In April 2005, the cruise stopped working and had to be fixed. It took over a week for the part to come in, and almost 2 weeks for it to be repaired at Saturn of green bay. I had to go to the dealer 30 minutes early, be driven over to my school where I teach, walk to my second school I teach at, and wait for a driver to pick me up (20-40 min past when I was done for the day). Despite everything we've been through with a new car that should need minimal care at this point, we've been basically told that we should take the $2600 hit to buy a new car while the dealer breaks even. This is poor salesmanship, and we will not be purchasing Saturn products any longer.
While driving at 50 mph, the steering wheel drifted to the left and was not turning smoothly, it was hard to handle the wheel. The dealer inspected the vehicle, and could not correct the problem. The vehicle was found mis-aligned and was repaired.
