36 Electrical System problem of the 2002 Saturn LS

Failure Date: 05/18/2012

I was driving my car to work and leaving my street to turn onto a busy highway. I lifted the turn signal lever to indicate my turn and the blinker did not work. I tried the other turn signal direction and that did not work either. The hazard button did work. I instinctively use the turn signals and have heard a buzzing sound coming from the center of the dashboard, near the hazard button/switch. Blinkers work if I press the hazard warning light, use the turn signal and then depress the hazard button. Upon research on the internet it seems that the hazard warning switch may be the culprit. I've contacted gm customer service to notify them of this problem and am waiting for their reply. It seems that there has been a recall on this part for the 2000 Saturn Ls but not for my model and year.

43 Electrical System problem of the 2001 Saturn LS

Failure Date: 03/20/2010

I have a 2001 Saturn l300 I bought the car 5 months ago 2 weeks after the purchase the check engine light comes on. I took the car to the dealership mechanic which is not affiliated with Saturn and was told it was nothing (I think partially in part because I am a female) by the way I was given a 2 week warranty lol! about a month or two ago I noticed that I would go to start my car and it would be dead. Later I realized my lights were staying on after I turned them off. My check engine light returns so I take it to autozone to be diagnosed only to find out I had 18 codes! for a little over a month now I have had to jump my car with each start fearing I will cause further damage and what do you know last night I jump my car and know the battery and abc break light appears causing my car to lose power while in traffic and for the lights that do not want to cease to flash on and off at incoming motorists with my brights I really don't want to cause someone an accident due to Saturn faulty cars and its system. Numerous websites I've visited consulting this issue have many other purchasers with similar problems and mutual complaint with the tardiness of Saturns action to respond promptly and effectively. I am truly outrageous at this matter and to continue to make payments on this poorly structured vehicle.

44 Electrical System problem of the 2001 Saturn LS

Failure Date: 02/28/2010

I have had nothing but problems since I purchased this used 2001 Saturn in 2001. I have put 2 catalytic converters, steering rack, stabilizer bar, front struts, had a head gasket major problem. I have owned two other new Saturn's with no problems. . . I am roughly disappointed in this car. Also my dash lights dimmed when security light flashed on and when that happened also my temp gauge and gas gauge would go from right to left and then back quickly. I had to have a modular replaced. Again, I am sooooo disappointed with this car. Within the first year of owning this I had two inline fuel filters as the car just stopped while driving. . . Speed went down and down and nothing. Has anyone else had so many problems.

45 Electrical System problem of the 2002 Saturn LS

Failure Date: 01/13/2010

My 2002 Saturn l300 rear taillights are melting and failing often. A recall repair was performed 4 years ago and it is ineffective. Saturn is unwilling to re-evaluate the matter.

46 Electrical System problem of the 2000 Saturn LS

Failure Date: 01/05/2010

I drive a 2000 Saturn Ls and for the past 6 months my service light comes on periodically and the ac/hear/defrost will not work. There has been a new sensor system placed in the car and I have flushed and used the fuel injection system and changed from using regular to mid grade gasoline and I am still having the same problem. The dealership (was Saturn is now road show auto) has tried everything to correct the problem but the problem still remains.

48 Electrical System problem of the 2002 Saturn LS

Failure Date: 06/23/2009

2002 Saturn l300 . Have followed all maint. Guidelines. Though it is on it's third battery, third set of tires, power steering pump replaced, timing belt replaced, ecm replaced, two catalytic converters replaced, the list goes on and on. Less than 90,000 miles. Drove the car. Got out, pushed the keyless alarm ( original factory) got dinner, pushed the keyless entry, got into the car , turned the key. . And the car was dead. Car does not start. Locked in park, had to have it towed. Tow truck driver had to use the dolly lifts to move the car, so he could position it to be able to tow it. Had it towed to a service garage, they followed gm's instructions . . No luck. The car had to be towed again , to a Saturn dealership ( the only ones who have the codes) to reset the vehicle. They told me they could not reset it. Told me it needs a new bcm. Stated ecm and bcm are unable to communicate. So that until the module is replaced the car is inoperable. Stated they knew the bcm's go bad, stated they have had alot of these go bad ( alot)???. The service tech stated " they are like a computer hard drive on steroids" . Stated they burn out with no way to check them or fix them. He said they should be able tofix the car. But they do not keep any bcm in stock. It will be a week before they can get the part. After replacing the bcm I was told the cars information will not be accurate. They told me the odometer goes back to zero. How can that be the dealer just turn back the odometer isn't that illegal? I was told that sometimes there maybe some other issues also after installing a new bcm?? if they know that the bcm is a problem, and that when it goes bad, the car is completely useless! why isn't something being done ! you are at the mercy of Saturn / gm because no one else is allowed to fix the car. I will now be waiting a week for my vehicle to be repaired. Only to hope it runs correctly after it's repaired.

49 Electrical System problem of the 2002 Saturn LS

Failure Date: 01/01/2009

With the recall of Saturn ion in the news, I've been increasingly worried about my 2002 Saturn lw200. Even though it's not the model or year in the current recall, the description of the problem is one that I've been working around for years. I don't recall when I discovered the ignition problem, but what I recall is that it was past the warranty period, and it wasn't something I could afford to have repaired. My knee accidentally knocked my keychain while the car was running, and it fell out of the ignition. I was parked in the driveway, idling. The ignition remained in the run position. I was able to recover my keys and re-insert the ignition key into the ignition. I am always conscious of my keys, and make every effort to not touch them while driving. Also since first purchasing the car, the airbag error light displays when I restart my car after turning off the ignition, but keeping the key in the ignition slot. This is a frequent occurrence as I turn the engine off for freight train crossings and while waiting for my children at school pick up. I thought the error was just a quirk that needed resetting by removing the key. So, as a workaround, when I turn the engine off, I remove the key completely and reinsert it to avoid the airbag error. I don't know what else to do but contact you in the hopes that other Saturn owners will come forward as news of the recall is released.

56 Electrical System problem of the 2002 Saturn LS

Failure Date: 12/04/2006

I have a 2002 Saturn l-100. When the light switch is in the automatic position the headlights, instrument panel lights, interior lights and tail lights flash intermittently but quite frequently. When they flash the fuel and temperature gauges go back and forth as if they lose power and re-gain it. When the gauges lose power and continue to lay down, the shift lever cannot be moved from the park position until they receive power again. When the light switch is manually turned on the headlights and taillights do not flicker, however the gauge, interior and dash lights continue to flicker. Have had it looked at several times. No one has a clue of what the cause can be. Can hear clicking from underhood fuse box when it does that. Can also feel the clicking in the release button on the gear shift. I cannot believe this is normal as Saturn claims.

57 Electrical System problem of the 2002 Saturn LS

Security light flashes on and off and when that happens the headlights flash, gas gauge moves up and down, mileage reset back numbers.

58 Electrical System problem of the 2001 Saturn LS

Failure Date: 09/05/2006

Odometer suddenly began displaying only mileage 694978 with no miles registered under the trip odometer. Research indicates that the body control module has failed. (this follows having to replace the entire engine due to the failed timing chain with only 48000 miles on the engine. ) the car currently has approximately 51300 miles, since I cannot read the actual mileage at this point.

59 Electrical System problem of the 2002 Saturn LS

Failure Date: 08/06/2006

I own a 2002 Saturn l100. About a month ago the automobile experienced difficulty in starting. It turns out, after taking the vehicle to Saturn the problem was determined to be the body control module(bcm). Replacement cost approx. $550. 00. I have two issues. 1. Because the car would start after making a number of attempts, it was drivable. Unfortunately, the airbag sensor was tripped which could cause the airbags to deploy(according to the owner's manual) causing an extremely dangerous situation. 2. My research on various on-line sites seems to indicate that a vast number of Saturn customers have had this same problem,I. E. Bcm failure. Consequently, I believe that this bcm has been poorly manufactured and should be recalled and replaced at no charge to the consumer.

60 Electrical System problem of the 2001 Saturn LS

Failure Date: 08/01/2006

The current mileage was 64,435 and failure mileage was 63,000.

61 Electrical System problem of the 2002 Saturn LS

Failure Date: 07/15/2006

I am a 3time Saturn owner--both my sl series were excellent! this l300 has been a disappontment. The odometer suddenly went form 43k to 694k (stuck) w/o warning or event. The dash trunk release stopped working. Im told the bcm (body control module) has to be replaced, at a cost of $600. This may be the Saturn that drives me back to Toyota.

67 Electrical System problem of the 2000 Saturn LS

Failure Date: 09/01/2004

Since car was bought problems with the electrical system. The car goes cuts off when it feels like it. Said it was a loose ground wire. They fixed it and not even two miles down the road it did it again. The if I would step on the brakes too hard the "service engine" light would go on. Usually the car computer would note a code if the service light would go on it didnt. Then a puff of smoke came from the stirring wheel and the dealership told me that it was from a piece of dust. No two months later the switch for the high beams would flash on and off and then it would stay on after you shut off the car. They turn on when they want when the car is off. We have also replaced the passenger airbag because the airbag started coming out of the dash board. The dashboard is also bubbling around the area where the airbag sits.

68 Electrical System problem of the 2002 Saturn LS

The brake switch and cruise failed, there would be an intermittent connection when the pedal was depressed, the tail lamp would become dim when the brakes were applied and inoperative when the headlight would come on and the high mount brake light was inoperative.

70 Electrical System problem of the 2000 Saturn LS

Failure Date: 07/01/2004

The plastic around the tail lights on the driver side melted due to bulbs overheating. Dealer was notified. Dealer informed consumer that the problem maybe due to an electrical surge.
