Two problems related to transmission noise have been reported for the 2007 Saturn Outlook. The most recently reported issues are listed below. Please also check out the statistics and reliability analysis of the 2007 Saturn Outlook based on all problems reported for the 2007 Outlook.
Transmission took a while to engage into 2nd gear. When in first gear, you can hear the transmission making a distinct sound. Sounds like a whinny noise, as it was struggling to get into 2nd gear. I noticed this sound when stopped at a traffic light and the light turned green. As I began to accelerate, I noticed the vehicle was having a tough time getting out of 1st gear. This is the second issue with the transmission in 22 months. Back in November of 2013, I had the wav plate replaced at a cost of $2,600. 00. The dealership now is telling me I need a whole new transmission at a cost of $4,000. 00. Gm did reimburse me for my first transmission issue, but without a reimbursement, I would be looking at spending nearly $6,600. 00 over the course of 22 months for transmission-related issues. No reasonable person would expect to pay that much money in such short of a time period for (2) separate, transmission related issues.
Right after pulling on to the interstate, I noticed the car would not get up to speed. When I pressed on the gas, it would make a grinding noise. I immediately slowed down. I then realized that the highest speed I could go was about 50. But soon I could only go about 15-25 mph, and I was stuck on the interstate at that speed. I inched along until I got to an exit. I immediately pulled over to check the fluids, oil, water, etc. My first thought was the transmission, by the way it was acting. I finally did get it home by driving only 20 mph at best. This happened Friday. My wife followed me on Monday and we dropped it off at the mechanics. I did do some research over the weekend and found that the wave plate on the 2007 Outlooks was a huge problem. Sure enough when the mechanic hooked it up to the machine, that's what code came up. Now its going to cost me a nice $4000 to fix.
