Defogger Problems of Saturn Outlook

I took my 2009 Saturn Outlook xe to the gm service center yesterday only to find out at 45000 my steering rack and pump needs to be replaced at $1300 +. Also, my timing chain is gone. My air conditioner stopped blowing cold air for the second time and lastly when I turn on my defrost it comes out at my feet. The air and the defrost I am still waiting for them to figure out the problem. How can gm get away with this. I haven't even reached 50000 miles and my car needs close to $5000 in repairs. Gm need to stand behind their vehicles and put out a recall on the steering rack before someone gets seriously hurt or killed. Please, someone do something.

At around 50k my 2008 Saturn Outlook air conditioning system stopped working. The air conditioner would not blow cold air at all. A local dealership cleaned and sanitized the system and checked for leaks and re-filled with freon. The system worked for a couple of days as far as blowing cold air but not as well as before. I returned the car for them to look at again, they used a new machine to check for leaks and pressure checks, refilled with freon again. This time it worked for a day and has not worked since. After the second time, I was informed it was a compressor issue and it would be at least $1000. This seems extremely early for an air conditioner to go out, it was just out of warranty, of course.
