The contact owns a 2007 Saturn Outlook. When the driver's side door was opened, there was a puddle of water in the area where the floor mat, accelerator pedal, and brake pedal were located. The contact used a wet vac and drained the water out. The contact drove the vehicle to the dealer (marty's GMC in kingston, massachusetts) where the sun roof drainage lines and radio were replaced. The vehicle was taken to the marty's GMC dealer for water intrusion a total of four times, but the failure was never resolved. During the last failure, the battery that was located under the rear seat was buried under four inches of water. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and advised the contact that the failure was not a safety concern. The approximate failure mileage was 97,000.

The problem starts with heavy rain leaking through the sun roof. According to the ed morse dealership representative, the sunroof is projected to pass some water (very few) that will drain through the drain tubes located at the front and rear columns (sides of the windshield). However, the tubes may get clogged an the water starts leaking inside the car through the columns were airbag are located. Nevertheless, these tubes are not long enough to drive the water until the bottom of the car so the water will leak into the inner fuse block, will damp the carpets on the passenger and driver sides and make much more damage than you can believe. As the insulator between the carpet and the floor is like a sponge, it will absorb the water and soaks all the connectors that run below the insulator (cables that run from the battery, to the seats motors and heater, etc, etc). Not to mention that it may damage the airbag triggers mechanisms located on the columns besides the windshieldâ?¦. Based on the number of complains about this issue at the internet, why nobody has done anything yet? what if the front sides airbag does not deploy as expected due to this rain inside the car????? NHTSA should seriously inquire gm for that as it may put many lives at risk. And not only to Saturn Outlook owners. The same is happening to GMC acadias and Buick enclaves. . . . There are many forums with such complain at the internet and in one of them a representative from gm ask us to contact her but I sent her 2 e-mails and so far I have no answer. Her e-mail is [xxx]. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
After the vehicle sat in rain (sun roof closed of course), water was noticed running down the a pillar and out the sunvisor brackets and pooling on the floor. Upon inspection, it was noticed that water is building up in the sunroof bracket/frame and overflowing into the vehicle. It's likely the sunroof drain channels are clogged.
I purchased a 2008 Saturn Outlook xr. The dealership swore they could fix the sunroof leak. After 10 weeks and releasing it back to me 4 different times. They have yet to fix the issue. My car is flooded every time it rains.
Sunroof leak: I cannot believe that gm has failed to issue a proper recall for the ongoing problem with leaky sunroofs! I can hear water "swooshing around" the sunroof after it rains. It has completely drenched my wife (while in the passenger seat) and it leaks through the airbags. I literally have puddles (on the driver 's side) floor in my vehicle after it rains! the water leaking out while driving is a safety issue and possible mold spores developing is a health issue! please recall!.
Water is coming in from the sunroof drains. Water is pooling in the headliner. Upon braking water poured out the front of the headliner by the passenger windshield and also dripped on the lower left side of the drivers side gauge compartment. I am concerned of stagnant water causing mold and mildew - I am highly allergic and it causes bronchial issues. I am concerned of the water shorting out the electronic components. I purchased this vehicle from my father who drove it sporadically and garaged it. I do not have a garage and drive it daily rain or shine. I am concerned for our safety. A car is not supposed to leak.
Driving to a doctor appt and pulled into a parking lot to use my phone. Put car in park, engine on. Sat for 5 min, then put car in drive and engine revved and revved but did not move but a few feet. Put car in park and turned off the car for a few minutes. Upon restart, drove just fine for about 20 miles until check engine light went on. Went immediately to have to code read at a nearby auto zone. Gave 2 codes, one about a transmission problem and the 2nd about a computer self-repair completed. Never had the problem again. Then 3/5/14, at now 71,000 mi or so, while entering the on ramp to the freeway and now in the far left lane, attempted to accelerate, engine revved and car went maybe 25 mph if that. A large big rig slammed on its brakes and swerved to miss rear-ending us. Car was turned off and turned back on. Same problem-revved very high and would go only 25-35 mph in drive. Had to get off the freeway! vehicle overheated and smoking. Towed to mechanic shop and was told it was a miracle that we have been able to drive it as all the gears were stripped and it needed a new transmission. Gm dealership said manufacturer warranty 5yr or 100,000 mi just expired 2/13. $2,500-$3,500 in cost. . . Grrrr! along with a dual sun/moon roof leak!.
While in a stopped position, I tried to accelerate and my transmission would not go into gear. I was stuck not being able to pull over to get out of traffic, because my car wouldn't go into gear. I put it into park, then back into drive several times, and I finally got it to creep enough in low gear to get it to the side of the road. This could have been a disaster if I were trying to pull out into traffic. The car was in the shop prior due to the transmission slipping. This was not covered and cost me $3000. I am still not sure this corrected the problem and I don't feel safe in this car. This car has been in the shop several times for a front leak at the driver's door from the sunroof, which still leaks with heavy rain. Also, the constant squealing when turning the wheel which no mechanic will acknowledge. Nothing has ever been done to correct this. I assume it is the power steering pump. The car doesn't have good acceleration power compared to any other SUV model. It drags with no pick up.
I took this vehicle to an automatic car wash. About halfway through, water started pouring into the vehicle through the overhead console and the passenger side a pillar because of a leaking sunroof/moonroof. I understand from research that this is a repeated issue with these vehicles, yet gm will not fix them. Something needs to be done. I paid $20k for this vehicle two months ago and I have made one payment of 72, and now I find out that the vehicle can never get wet or there will be problems.
Sunroof started leaking and leaked into the fuse boxes and cause the fuse box and wires to corrode which caused the car to not shut off could drive down the road shut the car off and take the key out and it would still run.
Leaks in sunroof, water coming out of airbag area. Master cylinder for brakes went out.
Major sunroof leak. Whenever it rain I have a steady stream of water leaking into the car and creating a puddle of standing water on my passenger floor board. Have been on the phone with hendrick Chevrolet and they are admit that I will have to pay the repairs.
2008 Saturn Outlook xr. Has been in the shop seven times over three years for water leak. Have had sunroof serviced multiple times, leaking body seam along firewall supposedly repaired, electrical short circuit repaired due to water, front carpets replaced. The carpets are still wet and the vehicle is still leaking.
The contact owns a 2008 Saturn Outlook. The contact stated that whenever there was rain, water would leak through the closed sun roof and onto the front driver's side air bag compartment. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the sun roof module and a second unknown part was replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the defect. The approximate failure mileage was 51,000.
Constant sunroof leak into passenger side of vehicle, multiple repairs. The rain runs down into vehicle leaving massive puddle of water on the passenger side floor. It appears to run down on far right side under the glove box area into the vehicle. I constantly have towels on the passenger side floor to protect the carpet, however the carpet is now permanently damaged and smells moldy. The state in which I live rains all winter long, so this is a major issue. I'm very concerned about the electrical box and electrical system failing! gm dealerships have been completely unhelpful and want to charge anywhere from $300 to $500 to replace the tubing every year.
The sunroof is leaking water. Had to take it to the dealer several times before they say they fixed the problem. I do not believe it is fixed. This issue of leaking sunroofs/ moon roofs has caused numerous problems in the same make/model vehicles and the leaks caused electrical problems, mold etc. In these vehicles. I will not drive my vehicle on days it looks like it might rain for fear it will leak again. As I understand this problem cannot be "fixed" and it is only a matter of time before mine leaks again. My vehicle only has appx 36000 miles on it. I should not be afraid of driving my vehicle. I want my money back.
Purchased pre-owed 2008 Outlook in Nov of 2009. First sunroof/moonroof leaks noticed in spring of 2010. Drains were "fixed", but continue to have moldy musty smell to vehicle after heavy rains and driver seat feels wet. Other problems encountered with vehicle have been engine continuing to run with key out, air bag light on, power steering pump failure, rear speakers are water damaged, rear ac has always malfunctioned, main ac is now malfunctioning. Not to mention allergies suffered from mold exposure.
The contact owns a 2008 Saturn Outlook. The contact stated that the engine stalled when the accelerator was depressed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, but the manufacturer was not contacted. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 4,500 and the current mileage was 41,000. Updated 11/07/11 updated 06/13/2012.
Fax fwd (FL) CO-owners of a 2008 Saturn Outlook with a defective sunroof, requesting gm reimburse repair cost for gm mfr defect, reply to tallahassee, FL ofc. The consumer would like to be reimbursed for the expenses incurred to fix a leak in the sunroof. The vehicle starting leaking in June 2008 and the dealer allegedly fixed it. They added extensions to the drain. The consumer believed the vehicle was designed poorly with drains and tubes that were too short. It started leaking again and had to be taken back several months later. Again, the dealer claimed it was fixed again. However, it started leaking again in January 2009. Gm informed the consumer to take it to another dealer, but they would not be responsible for the cost of fixing the defect. It leaked again on Feb 12th.
2007 Saturn Outlook, consumer received notification of rejection. * bf the sunroof leaked, the rear wiper was broken and the front passenger air bag did not activate. The driver's seat belt was improperly aligned from a previous repair and the front wipers failed. Last month, the power steering function was severely compromised while driving through a heavy rainstorm. The power steering was providing inconsistent feedback which appeared to be caused by a slipping belt to the power steering pump.
Sunroof leaks. The leaks lead to reserves of water above the headliner that can be heard when turns are made. Significant amounts of water run through air bags on a columns and dashboard. Given that the battery has died on me six times, I am concerned about long term electrical damage and proper air bag deployment. Dealer has attempted to repair five times.
