I have been trying to complete my recall for 2 months now, and am told by all dealers that parts are not available from gm to make the recalled repairs. Takata recall-I called my local dealership to have the recall repaired in may 2017. I was told the parts were in and was allowed to make an appointment. I took my vehicle in as scheduled, waited in the waiting room about 10-15 minutes to be told they "made a mistake" and the parts weren't available yet. I gave them my phone number for them to call when the parts were in and have not heard from them yet. Since then I have received 2 notices regarding the recall. I have called again (6 months later) and now they are saying the car was repaired. I was also told the recall was closed "manually. " the recall should not have been closed because repairs were not made to the vehicle. Again they are going to call me back. This has been a complete waste of my time because I have to take a day off work to get the issue resolved. The dealership in question is wakefield Buick GMC in spartanburg, SC.

With the vehicle (2008 Saturn Sky) in motion on a highway, the "airbag service" warning appeared on the display / readout. Took the Sky to a GMC dealer and was informed the passenger presence module failed. Approx $950 to fix. If not fixed, the airbag wont diploy.
I formally request that NHTSA investigate the passenger sensing system for air bags in the 2007 to 2010 model year Saturn Sky, as well as its platform twin, the pontiac solstice. As you will notice in the whitepaper attached to this complaint, there is clear evidence that there is a systemic defect in the pss, that causes them to fail. General motors has admitted that similar problems exist in other gm cars of this era, but has refused to publicly investigate this series of cars. In a roadster, this is particularly important because these cars lack a backseat. When the pss fails, the only place a passenger can go is into a seat - a seat which now has the airbag disabled, after the pss fails. As the whitepaper notes, the replacement parts are just as prone to fail as the ones being installed today. I implore NHTSA to investigate and act on this matter, as approximately 100,000 of these cars were produced - and all of them are likely to eventually suffer from this defect, based on the technical data collected by the community. Thank you.
