1 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2000 Saturn SL1

Failure Date: 06/15/2009

When I start my car or park it after driving the rpms shoot up extremely high & the engine races. When I shut the car off the engine makes a loud clunk due to shutting it off with the rpms that high. I have had it diagnosed several times & no one knows what is wrong. I had the air idle sensor replaced thinking it was the problem but it is not. This is very bad for the engine.

2 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2000 Saturn SL1

Failure Date: 08/26/2008

Timing chain on my 2000 Saturn l broke. I only have 83,000 miles on it. I have read a lot of complaints online about this problem occurring consistently with gm cars, especially Saturns.

3 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2000 Saturn SL1

Failure Date: 08/27/2005

A 2000 Sl1 Saturn passenger vehicle is the source of this complaint. Saturns are often recognized as being 200k mile cars - look for the wall at the service centers. - polaroids of 'happy' Saturn customers. After 94k miles, my Saturn had a piston fragment inside the engine. The vehicle motor is a total loss. I just paid it off 6 months ago. Saturn refused to supply any explanation or offer to stand behind their product.

4 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 1998 Saturn SL1

Cracked cylinder head on 1998 Sl1 Saturn with 70,000 miles. Car was loosing coolant. Cost $2,000 in labor to repair, problem seems to appear with other consumers complaining as well. Manufacturer should consider this a defect and reimburse for cost of reapir.

5 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 1996 Saturn SL1

Failure Date: 09/02/2004

Purchased the Saturn Sl1 in sept 24 of 2004 with 94,32 0miles. I had the oil changed that very same day. I 've kept up on all fluids and service religiousily. At 96910 miles the car would not go into 1st, 3rd or reverse without force. On 9/10/03 I had the clutch replaced and the slave cable. Then is when it started having problems overheating, mechanic did two diffrent diagnostic test both came back with no conclusions. The car still heats up everyday ,but I have no other car to drive. There is no power in the car now and the oil is sludge filled. I've purchased temperature sending units, both O2 sensors, thermostat, coolant, clutch, relays, etc. . . To try to solve the problem of the over heating. Pretty much it's a matter of time before I'm like the other 1996 Saturn drivers who will have to pay the $ 1000. 00-2000. 00 to fix my head gasket that was a known factory defect. What can we do.
