I have been experienceing problems with my ignition switch and smoke coming from my airbag. Anytime I get into my car and put the key in the ignition, it locks and won't let me turn the key, it takes several tries before it turns over. Once the car is on and driving on city streets light smoke will come from the airbag. I immediately would pull over and stop the car and wait for a while before heading home. This has happen several times with in the last 2 months. I'm concerned the airbag will deploy prematurely without an accident. I don't have a photo or documents, however I have made an appointment with a GMC dealership. Please let me know if there is additional information. Thank you.
2096 Saturn Vue, with front seat heaters. Air bag warning light lit, diagnostic code bc092. Replacement part 15785010 is no longer available per dealership. After reconnecting wiring(left disconnected by dealership) and turning passenger heater switch on, error code could be cleared to turn off warning light. While off, passenger detection works ok and passenger air bag is activated. It only stays fixed for less than a day. Has left the error light lit and the passenger air bag disabled for over a year. Notice about 100 or so similar complaints on 2006 Saturn Vue's here; I wonder if the equivalent chevy suvs have the same problem.
The air bag failure sensor lights up on the dash - indicating air bag system failure. The heated seats no longer function. However as long as we keep the heated seat switch on - the air bag failure sensor will not light, indicating that there is not a problem. As soon as we try to drive without the heated seat switch on, the air bag light goes on indicating system failure. Mechanics have stated that we need new heated seats at a cost of over $1500. The car has less than 70k miles currently on it. Reported to gm 12/2/2013 we were told it was the first they heard of the problem yet we see dozens of complaints with the same bizarre circumstances.
Bought a 2006 Saturn Vue in 2012. Within a year, had problems a couple of times with the key turning in the ignition switch. 2014: now it takes anywhere from 5 - 15 minutes every time to get the key to turn the vehicle on in the ignition switch. Air bags: the symbol for the air bag keeps appearing on the dash board often.
The air bag light on the dash came on and went off for several weeks and when this would happen, the air bag stated it was not on even when someone was sitting in the front passenger seat. I took it the gm dealer in my area and was told that the air bag sensor and passenger side heater switch needed to be replaced. After researching this particular problem online, I found several reports on various websites of this exact problem occurring in this same make/model of vehicle regarding the air bag sensor/seat heater sensor. When the dealer was asked about this concern/repair, we were told it was not a common occurrence, even though online reports stated differently. My question is that since this seems to be a repetitive problem of the exact same nature with this vehicle make/model and year, why did gm not submit a recall for this serious safety concern regarding the air bag issue? . . Several issues with 2006 Saturn Vue to report: - air bag light comes on virtually every time the car is started. There is no one in the passenger seat - ignition - key can be removed from ignition switch while motor is running - ignition - key is virtually impossible to turn unless it is cajoled repeatedly. Typical start up time is in excess of 5 minutes to find the "sweet spot". "sweet spot" tends to move on a daily basis. No particular technique works every time - ignition - key will become stuck in the ignition switch. Results in a two to five minute careful tug of war with the car in order to remove the key. Ignition switch had this problem before and was replaced (at owners expense of $214 dollars) and things were fine for approximately two years. Now the symptoms (see above) have returned. - power locks - unable to lock doors (any) with drivers side lock controls.
I own a 2006 Saturn Vue awd in the 2 years I have owned the car here is a list of what has been replaced; 3 set of front brake rotors due to excessive warping to a point where they cant be turned which resulted in a shimmy of the steering wheel when the brakes are applied that keeping control was almost impossible. 2)rear wheel bearings at 25,000mi. 3) front strut mounts also at 25,000 mi. 4) pass seat air bag/seat heater module($907 one wont work without the other) 5) rear wiper motor6) windshield washer pump 6) gas tank vent valve solenoid switch (this makes the engine light com on) 7)3 yes 3 radios. 8) upper pass. Seat heater element.
Our 2006 Saturn Vue was purchased from a Saturn dealership with just over 36000 miles on it and had this airbag light problem when purchased. We didn't know it was a problem until after we had it for a while. The passenger airbag light is in the off position almost all the time and once in a while when an adult is in the seat will switch rapidly back and forth but only on momentarily. The airbag light on the dash cluster is also illuminated when the passenger light is in the off position.
1st issue. Both heated seats went out. Then passenger airbag sometimes goes off even with passenger sitting in chair. I can reset airbag with passenger heated seat button. This happens all the time and is very dangerous for passenger. Key switch locks and I have to jiggle steering wheel to release.
Consumer complaint deactivation of 2006 Saturn Vue air bag. ***transferred to tis*** the consumer request that an air bag on/off switch be installed on the driver's side of the vehicle. The consumer is 4' 10-1/2 inches, 88 pounds and has to sit close to the steering wheel in order to reach the gas and brake pedal.
