Engine And Engine Cooling Problems of Saturn VUE - part 2

I pulled up to a stop sign and the engine died. When I turned the key, I could hear the pistons impacting the valves. The timing chain slipped and because this is an interference engine, it destroyed the engine. My mechanic has offered a remanufactured engine with a warranty for $3000+ or a used junkyard engine for $2000+. The vehicle is in excellent condition but will most likely need to be scrapped because it's not logical to spend that much money on a car that is only worth $1800. All of this after I've spent over $1000 replacing the whole suspension, shift cables, brakes, and calipers. This engine and timing chain setup has been used in many gm vehicles and has been recalled in the Saturn LS. But not in any of the other models which use the same setup. It's ridiculous and they should have all been recalled.

In addition, the technician informed that the transmission and engine could disengage from the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The car was on fire 15 minutes after I parked it. Arson investigator told us that it is a mechanical\electrical problem. The car was a total loss.

I was pulling out of a parking lot onto a street when I had to stop for oncoming traffic. When I applied my brakes, the engine started racing and the rpms shot up like the accelerator had stuck. The truck started to lurch forward and I had to throw the vehicle in neutral to avoid being hit by oncoming traffic. At first I had thought that maybe my foot had inadvertently slipped partway off the brake onto the accelerator because my boots were wet and slippery from the snow, or that it was because of the extreme cold we were experiencing. I do not believe either was the case because it has happened two other times since then in the span of three weeks, and all at different temperatures and driving conditions. One time I was driving down the road and as I let off the accelerator the vehicle sped up as I was approaching a red light. I had to throw the vehicle in neutral again to avoid an accident. At that time I was probably driving approximately 20 mph and this occurred on February 26, 2015. The third incident was once again pulling out of a parking lot onto a roadway when the vehicle once again lurched forward as I was applying the brakes and the engine rpms shot up. I believe this incident occurred on March 3, 2015. A check of the accelerator linkage and pedal showed the linkage and pedal to be in excellent condition.

My ignition cylinder needs replaced. My keys are coming out of the ignition with the car still on, does not matter whether in park or not, my key will slide out. So now I have to get this fixed but while I wait to have it fixed, I have to always make sure my car is in park or an accident could happen.

Tl-the contact owns a 2003 Saturn Vue. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 65 mph, the speed decreased, the vehicle locked up and the speed increased back up to 70 mph. I turned the corner to enter my street, there is a slight "s" curve to enter my street. I was no more than 50 yards from the corner when my vehicle revved loudly, rpm to 3500 and accelerated , I managed to avoid more damaged than was done, but in the interim I hit a 3' tall brick mail box and caused damage to my vehicle. The gentleman whose mail box I hit suggested I research recalls, - and I found a ton of "like" incidences with these vehicles and transmissions. It is amazing no one has been killed. General consensus is gm is not taking responsibility for these situations. Gm knows the transmission is defective, but refuses to address the issue. People have been left stranded with a non working vehicle and still owing money for this. There is evidence of failure on a continual basis, but gm is abandoning the cause. Disgusting since we the tax payers bailed them out with their sub standard product!.

While pulling out of a parking space, the timing chain tension slipped and broke. This caused broken rocker arms and internal engine damage. The result is to replace the entire engine! at a cost of $5,000 this leaves me in a dilemma, should I junk the car (which I bought 1 1/2 years ago for $7,500) and put the $5,000 toward a new used car. I noticed there was a recall for this exact failure for Saturn Vue, but not for my model year.

I can pull my key out of the ignition while it is running. I was told that my car does not have an active recall even though it is doing the same thing as the Saturn Vues they are recalling.

The c5 plate in the transmission snapped causing my vehicle to not shift into gear. No reverse either. Car would not go over 30, rpm's were high. Engine light came on. Cost to fix $1794. Researched problem, bunch of complaints came up, same problem, same make, model, and year. Transmission exchange in lackawanna NY verified that he has done similar vehicles with same transmission, same problem. I'm a single mother needing to get back and forth to work. This should have been labeled a recall being it's a manufacturer malfunction.

After initial start, the car key can be removed from the ignition switch and the motor continues to run. To switch off the motor, the key must be reinserted as usual. There is no resistance in removing the key while the motor is running.

The contact owns a 2005 Saturn Vue. While driving various speeds, the front end of the vehicle vibrated and shook intermittently. In addition, the brake lights illuminated without the brake pedal being pressed. The failures occurred numerous times. An independent mechanic stated that the failure may be due to the torque converter. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 71,000.

I was driving on the freeway when my transmission gave out and would not go. I had to pull over and tow my car from the freeway to my house.

Upon trying to accelerate, the "kicked" and jerked, then slowed slightly. When traveling uphill, and parking, transmission seemed not to have enough power. Rolls backwards while idle before taking off.

The ignition will lock up and you have to move the steering wheel back and forth while you are turning the key trying to get to start. When driving down the road (usually in 4th gear) the gas peddle will stop working, you can put it all the way to the floor and get nothing. I usually can push the clutch in and make it work again. The passenger airbag will come on when no one is sitting in the seat.

I was leaving work, I entered my car, put the key into the ignition and attempted to turn the key. The key would not turn. The ignition was locked and there was no unlocking it. I called several tow companies as this had happened a year earlier and a tow company came out, sprayed the ignition with wd-40 and it turned right away. I tried the wd-40 before calling the tow company and it did nothing. When the tow truck arrived, he had made a statement that he had seen this a lot with these SUV's. He got the key into the auxiliary position and hit it the key with the hard end of a butt of a knife. This made the ignition slip to the "on" position. I could then turn the key and start the truck. I do not have the money to have this ignition replaced. I feel that this ignition should be replaced as just because it has not had an accident yet, there is obviously a defect with this ignition. The steering column was locked until the key could be turned to the "on" position. I have to leave the key in the ignition at this time so, that I can start the truck and get to work. I am told it will be close to $300 to repair this defect!.

While driving car began smoking from under hood (at top of hood on passenger side. Car also began shaking not the steering column but the car itself. It had been shaking intermittently earlier but stopped and then began again when the car began smoking.

I was driving down fm 1960 I saw white smoke coming from under the hood and through the vents. I turned off the air condition; then grey smoke start being visible from the under the hood. I came to a yellow light and tried to brake but the brakes did not work. When I was able to get the truck to stop, a cloud of black smoke came from the glove compartment and floor board areas. I exited the vehicle and about 30 seconds later the flames engulfed the truck.

My 2003 Saturn Vue continues to run when the key falls out of the ignition. If involved in a crash will air bags deploy ? this model is not on the recall list for gm products with this problem. Help!!!!.

The air bag light comes and goes . Then when driving down the freeway the car just up and died. Had to restart it. I have also had it not pick up speed when I push the peddle . After rams drop then I can pick up speed this is something I have had going on for a while. No one can find out why.

Vehicle all of the sudden stopped in the middle of an intersection. Everything ran fine as far as electrical, just wouldn't drive. Power steering has been going out many times.

Driving to maryland from charlotte nc. I was on the hwy going approx. 65. Car completely shut off, no noise, no warning. As the car slowed down, I coasted to the side of the hwy to a stop. Looked down at the gear shift, it was in drive. The ignition was in the on postion. I put on the break and put the car in park and shut off the ignition. Waiting a few seconds, I turned the key. The car started up and the chime went off. It was the chime that the car makes when you open the door and the keys are still in the igntion. ( a series of quick dings) I didnt open the door. All I did was start the car up. I continued, no problem. The same thing happened again on Saturday November 29th. 2014 on the highway going around the same speed. The car jerked slightly and shut off. This time it was at night. I coasted to the exit that was coming up. Had trouble sterring because the steering went out, head lights dimmed. Car slowly came to a stop at the top of the exit. Same situation. Ignition on, car in drive. I put my foot on the break and put the car in park and turned the ignition off. Turned the ignition back on. Car started up and the chime that goes off if you open up the door with the keys still in the ignition, went off again. The same as before.

The transmission for my Saturn Vue (2004) was replaced in 2010 when my vehicle had 77637 miles. The transmission was replaced in 2010 after receiving a letter from Saturn notifying of issue with intelligence (vti) transmission and my vehicle experiencing issues. My now second transmission is having the same problems the first transmission had. The mechanic who diagnosed the vehicle has said that it is not normal for a vehicle to have the same transmission issue and I know my family and friends have not experience this type of issue with their vehicles. This leads me to believe that this is not normal and that the issue with the intelligence (vti) transmission has not been resolved. I am asking for GMC to cover the cost to replace the new defected transmission for my vehicle. I would like for this issue to be escalated. My experience with GMC product and customer services I receive from jay has left me very disappointed and dissatisfied with GMC. I would like to know if there is anyone who can help me fight this issue with GMC.

The contact owns a 2005 Saturn Vue. The contact stated while making an abrupt left turn, the vehicle lost all power. There were no warning lights illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle was placed into the park position and turned off for four seconds. The vehicle was restarted and resumed normal operations. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. My key sometimes won't go into igniton and once it does, it sometimes falls out while I am driving or the car loses power while I'm driving. Is this problem a part of the gm recalls for 2003 Saturns ??.

Key can be removed from the ignition when the ignition is not in the off position and while driving the car. When I was driving the key fell from the ignition and the car was still running. . . I was able to put the key back in the ignition. This has happened on several occasions and I can pull the key from the ignition while the car is running.

I understand Saturns have had issues in the past with timing chains for which they did a recall. I have a 2008 Saturn Vue that I have had ongoing issues with since I bought it. I was just told noise the vehicle is making is the timing chain however I cant find anywhere that they have a recall for the 2008 Saturns. I am reporting this to avoid future incidents in case the timing chain results in a incident. I cannot afford to replace something that is suppose to last the life of the vehicle.

Took vehicle in for routine maintenance when the front engine cover was discovered to be leaking.

Engine died at 89,000 miles rocker arm assembly fell apart both of them valve was bent, timing chain came loose just went to start vehicle and it wouldn't start towed in to a dealership to have it checked and found it to be engine I tried to go through gm to help with this it was out of warranty a little over a year nothing else has went wrong with the vehicle ever and I have had oil changes no reason for it to fall apart and 4800 dollars later I feel it was a defect in the engine itself I have read other defects on this 2. 2 litre engine of coarse no help from manufacturer even though its a 2007 car the engine is made separate from when a car is made I have not heard of too many vehicles with a dead engine this early. . .

The Vue has lost power multiple times with no warning! 3 times while driving in the freeway with my 3 children!!! I have taken the car with multiple mechanics, invested about 2,700 trying to fix the problem with no luck. I'm out car,my job has been affected because of my continues tadies thanks to the car stopping at random times. It's very dangerous it randomly stops anytime anywhere, it's a accident waiting to happen. I'm low income hard working american who had spent a lot of money on this car. After googling this problem I have come across various people with the same problem, this needs to be investigated ASAP and gm needs to take responsibility this problem can take a life and that is priceless!.

While in our driveway getting ready to leave in our Saturn Vue, my husband put the car into reverse and started to back up. At this time the lanyard on the key chain got hooked and tugged the key a bit. The entire car completely shut off. After hearing of the recent gm recalls and remembering this happening with my Vue, we tried to replicate the problem while in my driveway, but not in park or neutral. By tugging on the lanyard, the engine turns off when the car is in drive pretty much every time. I have also had the key come completely out of the ignition while driving, but as long as it comes straight out and does not pull at an angle to turn the starter, the car stays on and continues to drive with no key in the ignition. Gm needs to look at this model as well as the others. If we can even replicate the issue on demand, there definitely is a problem. I can produce video of this happening with my car on request.

I bought this awd 2002 Saturn June 28 2013 from Toyota nation in buena park and even within 3 hrs of owning the car it quit working so I had it towed back I had traded in my 2010 chevy cobalt that only had 25k miles on it anyhow I ve had ignition replaced I had some other things spent almost $1000 already I cant get dealership to fix it last I replaced bcm and still not working right I ll be driving 45 mph and poof security light flashes I loose gas and it dies I live im mountains scary as heck with my kids im single parent pls help.

The contact mentioned the failure was experienced several times. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where the failure was unable to be duplicated. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 84,000 and current mileage was 92,000.

My car kept cutting off and wouldn't start. So I took it to the dealer I purchased it from and they replaced the ignition sensor in it. . Now it sometimes don't want to crank, they claim there is nothing wrong with it and thy cant figure it out.

Trying to start car it wouldn't start wait a few minutes then it would this happened 3-4 times.
