Tl-the contact owns a 2008 Smart car for two the contact received recall 18v273000 engine and engine cooling. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The local dealer was not contacted and was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact experience a failure. The manufacturer was contact who stated there were no local dealers near the contact however no further assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 126,000. 2008 Smart Fortwo passion. Consumer writes in regards to vehicle engine light and fuel tank problems. The consumer stated the check engine light illuminated and the vehicle was shaking. The consumer was told the vehicle was not being driven enough and the fuel in the tank was old. Seven months later, the consumer returned to the dealer for the same problem. The dealer stated an inspection at a cost of $414. 00 would be needed to determine the problem. After the inspection, it was determined the engine needed to be replaced at a cost of $6,037.

2011 Smart Fortwo coupe. Running rough and showing check engine light with obd code p0302. Mercedes-benz dealership found misfire on cylinder #2. Further investigation found cylinder #2 leaking 75%. Removed and replaced cylinder head with a new cylinder head as a "goodwill repair. " this particular mercedes-benz dealer has done 14 of these repairs to date. This appears to be a problem with a number of the Mitsubishi engines used in the current model Smart Fortwo.

Was driving on the highway when suddenly over heat and check engine light came on, and about 20 seconds later the car loss all power. I almost got hit my the car behind me, but was able to safely pull over to the side of the highway.

Engine check light came on. No apparent reason. Car drove ok brought to mb dealer. They run diagnostic. Noted that cylinder 3 misfired at some point, but everything is fine now. Car was in warranty then. After several months check engine light came on again. Car was riding rough temporarily. Then it was ok and the light went off. Light came on again around 35000 miles. Brought to dealer again. Car was driving fine at that point. There was some occasional hesitation in shifting. Was informed that cylinder 3 was not seated properly and misfiring. I would need a cylinder head replaced costing about $7000. At this point warranty expired. After the check was performed the car was in worst condition and could not be driven.
