1 Engine Failure problem of the 2015 Subaru Forester

Failure Date: 12/20/2019

Vehicle consumes oil at irregular pace. 1 quart needs to be added every 1,500-2,000 miles. This means using 3 additional quarts of oil in between oil changes. I am concerned about the environmental impact and for catastrophic engine failure.

2 Engine Failure problem of the 2015 Subaru Forester

Failure Date: 02/11/2019

My 2015 Subaru Forester engine failed 3 times during highway driving. Aug 26, 2018. I was in the express lanes when the gas pedal stopped responding and the car quickly decelerated. I merged to the shoulder. The car rolled to a stop. I tried to start it and immediately it turned on. I was not low on gas. Then oct 9, 2018, I was driving downhill on the freeway, with 20 miles to empty when the engine did the same thing. I quickly merged through traffic to the shoulder. Police suggested I ran out of gas. The third time, Feb 11, 2019, I was in middle of 5 lanes of highway traffic, driving 75 mph with 70 miles to empty when the engine shut off. It was night, the lights to the vehicle remained on. I quickly merged right, but there was no shoulder as they were doing construction. I called 911. Everyone around me was going 70-80mph. I was terrified we would be killed by a car who didn't see us at night. The police arrived in 15 minutes and bumped us off the freeway. Aaa arrived in 45 min. . Right before aaa arrived I tried to start the engine again, as I had been doing all along, and the engine started right up. I was told it wasn't a fuel problem because it started again without needing to add gas. Two Subaru dealerships have tried to re-create the problem. Neither could. They told me they can't repair anything since they can't determine what is wrong - deeming my warranty useless for this issue. I tried to get buy back from Subaru of America. They will not do a buyback because there haven't been repair orders. I have not driven the car since Feb 11, 2019. It is a dangerous car. It will fail again on the freeway and whoever is around is in danger of injury or death. The dealership wants me to pick up the car. The Forester has 58000 miles when it last failed.

3 Engine Failure problem of the 2013 Subaru Forester

Failure Date: 09/03/2018

Vehicle is currently sitting at a local dealership with a bad motor that needs to be replaced. The engine failure correlates with the issues that Subaru has with this year model. I have tried unsuccessfully to come to terms with Subaru, I am moving forward with a lawsuit and all options afforded to me to ensure that Subaru is held responsible for their product.

4 Engine Failure problem of the 2011 Subaru Forester

Failure Date: 06/25/2018

Engine burned out on interstate highway, metal filings in case, no warning lights came on the dash at any time. Come to find out there is no low oil light in this vehicle! plus, there is a class action lawsuit against this year/make/model for excess engine oil use. Serviced this car at all recommended intervals and never let oil changes go beyond the recommended mileage. Have been very faithful with caring for this vehicle. The oil change was not due for another 1,000 miles when this occurred. Subaru dealership nearest to where the engine failed was unhelpful as was the national Subaru company. Very disappointed in Subaru's customer service as a whole. Did not receive communication regarding this problem and no warning from service managers at any time during servicing the vehicle.

5 Engine Failure problem of the 2013 Subaru Forester

Failure Date: 01/20/2018

I'm sorry, but I'm sending in another incident report as I just want to amend my prior incident report # 11064585. If you are able to access that you will see that my engine failed on my 2013 Subaru forrester. In the description I sent to you, I completely forgot to mention that the Subaru dealership told me that it would cost between $8,000 to $12,000 to fix this problem! I have three kia's in my driveway, all with mileage over 125,000 and none of them have had this problem. I bought the Subaru for their reliability and dependability. Please add this to my prior case number file. Thanks so much.

7 Engine Failure problem of the 2015 Subaru Forester

Failure Date: 06/13/2016

The contact owns a 2015 Subaru Forester. While driving approximately 70 mph, the instrument panel illuminated and the engine failed. The vehicle was able to restart; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, but the failure could not be duplicated. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 27,000. The VIN was not available.

8 Engine Failure problem of the 2011 Subaru Forester

Failure Date: 02/01/2012

I am being told by the manufacturer that the engine failed due to lack of oil changes. I changed the oil on 7/6/11 at 10,639 miles. The engine then failed at 22241 on 2/1/12. The engine holds 5. 5 quarts of oil but per the manufacturer had none in it at the engine failure. How does a new vehicle burn 5. 5 quarts of oil in 11602 miles? there was also no warning light of any kind to tell me that the engine oil was low. The manufacturer stated that the oil level had to be lower than 2 p. S. I for the light to go off and warn me and at that point the engine would already be damaged. I got no advance warning that there was a problem with my engine or the oil level. The engine simply stopped working. I am being told that I have to foot the bill in excess of $9500. 00 for a new engine. How can a manufacturer have an engine that does not warn the consumer that there may be a problem? I am very puzzled by this and the fact the Subaru dealership who said the warranty was voided is the same dealership charging me exorbitant rates for a new motor? please help or give me a suggestion.

9 Engine Failure problem of the 2009 Subaru Forester

Failure Date: 02/22/2010

My new Subaru Forester had a catastrophic engine failure at 45,000 miles. There were no indications whatsoever that there was going to be a problem. The car was driving normally and no indicator lights came on to alert me that my engine would seize. I was on a major highway when this happened. I pulled over only because I heard an unusual noise from the engine compartment. Had I not pulled over, I would have broken down in the middle of the highway. Subaru has had numerous complaints about the same car with the turbo engine. They disregard this fact when I bring it up as my car does not have the turbo option. However, it does have the same engine. I searched on line and it appears that I am not the only Subaru Forester owner with this complaint. They will not fix the car nor do they feel it is a Subaru issue. They are blaming the failure on me. I would like to stop this from happening to others. Please let me know if you can help me.
