2 Engine Shut Off Without Warning problem of the 2015 Subaru Forester

Failure Date: 05/01/2020

While driving in the highway at 75 mph with cruise control on the car suddenly went to 5000 rpm and at the same time started to brake all the lights in the dashboard came on I pulled over and the car's engine shut down. I tried to started about 5 06 times the car wouldn't star and after that the car was completely dead. I had it tow to a shop. The next morning it started like nothing the mechanic at the shop said it was the battery. After changing the battery I took it to the gas station after putting gas it wouldn't start again after several tries it started. At this point I don't think the battery was the issue but I am glad I got home. This happened in starkville ms 200 miles from where I live.

3 Engine Shut Off Without Warning problem of the 2019 Subaru Forester

Failure Date: 12/02/2019

Traveling on highway, approximately 60 mph, tapped brakes and anti locks activated, immediately afterwards entire dashboard lit up with every warning light possible on the vehicle. I took the first exit, traveling approximately a quarter of a mile from start of incident, into a parking lot, directly off the highway, when the car shut down. Tried multiple times to restart the car- it would catch and then shut off. Ended up getting it towed to my home dealer. The cause is unknown. It appeared to be a catastrophic failure of the computer which caused the entire cars systems to shut down. Pictures show dash lit up and screen shot of my Subaru app which indicated only some of the warning lights, although all lights were lit.

5 Engine Shut Off Without Warning problem of the 2017 Subaru Forester

Failure Date: 10/10/2019

While on driving 65mph on the highway during the evening rush hour and suddenly my accelerator was unresponsive in that the rpms just revved (as if the transmission was shifted to neutral). I have two small, children 2 year old and 6 months, and had to quickly coast over to the shoulder and was able to exit the highway. The vehicle shut off while exiting the ramp and I had to call 911 and request an emergency vehicle to park behind me for my safety as I was unable to pull completely over before the vehicle stopped. I attempted to restart the vehicle but was unsuccessful. I had the vehicle towed and am still researching how to repair. I had a 3 year 36k mile warranty that has recently expired since I'm currently at 46k miles. This is a serious concern as I'm finding that my model has not been included in any transmission recalls. For a car manufacturer that prides itself in the highest of safety, this has to be the unsafest I've ever felt driving a vehicle. I'm basically at a loss on what to do at this point because I am confident that the dealership is going to rack up a bill for repair and diagnostics to repair my issue and I'm going to responsible for the outrageous cost of their guessing game of repairs.

6 Engine Shut Off Without Warning problem of the 2016 Subaru Forester

Failure Date: 11/24/2017

I've had this car for 1. 5 years and it's already stalled twice times. Both times I was driving on the highway and without any warning my car just started to rapidly decrease speed. Both times, I my gas meter said that I had over 50 miles of gas left in my car. Its absolutely terrifying because when the car shuts off, I have about two minute to get to the shoulder before it's completely dead.

7 Engine Shut Off Without Warning problem of the 2015 Subaru Forester

Failure Date: 07/30/2016

Our 2015 Forester turbo has 15,00 miles on it. We have had it to the dealer 4 times now asking them to find out why it is loosing power in times of need. The dealers from 2 different locations have said they were unable to duplicate the issue. We are going to take it back this week, it happened again today on the highway at 60 mph. Engine feels like it shuts off, cars traveling along side and behind had to skid the brakes to stop. This has become a life or death situation. We do not feel safe driving the car. It looses power in turns and highway speeds.
