Our car’s android auto navigation system is failing. This is not just a navigation failure. When we drive, especially at night, and our navigation system fails, it becomes a security and safety hazard. The problem: 1. After connecting a phone, tcl a30 android 11, via the usb cable to the car navigation system and entering an address, frequently, the system gets frozen. After a few tries at physically connecting and disconnecting the cable, we were able to get the system going. 2. While driving, the navigation system frequently fails. Occasionally, it points in the wrong direction, freezes, or shows that the navigation position is lagging by miles from our actual position. Disconnecting and reconnecting the usb cable tends to resolve the problem. When we use the Subaru navigation system and, at the same time, concurrently employ a second phone navigation system, that standalone phone navigation system does not experience the failures we are seeing with the Subaru navigation system. 2. Frequently, we get a message about a lost gps signal. This is an erroneous message. We know that because a second phone, not connected to the car navigation system, does not give gps error messages at the time the car navigation system announces gps errors. We did the following tests to verify that the navigation failures we observed were not phone or usb cable issues. We tested the car navigation system with two different phones and observed the same failures with both phones. We tested the system with two usb cables, and the failures persisted. We tested the usb cables for data transfers by downloading files from the phones to a computer. The file transfers from the phone to the computer were quick and accurate. It appears that the communication protocol that links the phone with the car’s navigation system is broken. We communicated our concerns to Subaru customer support. To the present time, we have received no response from Subaru.

Design flaw-2022 Subaru Forester, antenna placements inside body of car result in pacemaker interference and make it impossible to drive in and avoid. Antennas are built into frame of car and cannot be disabled to accommodate for disabled persons who have implantable medical devices. Inability to be able to permanently and completely disable technology that can interfere with implantable medical devices including "starlink", gps, wireless and radio wave technologies. Failure by Subaru to release testing results of above telematic devices to consumers. Failure by auto industry to properly test these systems before implementing into autos. Failure by auto industry to allow for accomodating people with disabilities to operate and purchase safely autos with these features. I want a black box warning on all vehicle stickers and complete disclosure in writing to dangers and exclusion to disable person to operate these vehicles! I disclosed to sells staff at Subaru at time of looking at vehicles to purchase that I have pacemaker, no warning was giving or safety concerns for persons with pacemakers. After purchase of vehicle and experiencing pacemaker function issues caused by these systems I was informed to stay 8" away from all antennas, which is impossible to do while driving or sitting in or near vehicle. I now have a vehicle I cannot drive and Subaru has refused to buy back to vehicle. I also want all any any testing info result findings do by NHTSA/Subaru to be mail to me ASAP! thanks for your time.

When driving on a freeway, the gps gives an audio command "exit right ahead", but it is not for the next exit. It is for one or even two exits later. This is very misleading and nearly cause an accident because when we realized that we should not get off at the next exit, we veered back onto the highway. This is a safety issue and suburu should reprogram all the gps systems on this model.

The gps system is unsafe. It says "exit right ahead", which would imply that you should exit at the next exit. But it says this when the exit programmed is the 2nd or 3rd exit. My wife tried to exit at the next exit, and then at the last minute, she realized that it was wrong and she swerved bacl onto the highway and almost had an accident. Suburu has to reprogram the gps system so that it doesn't say "exit right ahead" when it isn't the correct exit. They should then issue a recall and reprogram suburu owners gps system for free.
My wife tried to remove sd card so we could update maps via the internet. The sd card flew out of the dash, barely missing her face & is lost in the Forester. 4 people searched for many hours. I created another micro-sd card from a copy of its data I save in 2017 to get updates. Gps would not recognize the new micro-sd card with Subaru's data. Subaru maps are old >year later. My wife was almost injured when micro-sd card went missing, flying past her head. Called to get replacement - >$400 & almost $500. This safety issue needs to be addressed. We now have no gps that costs $thousands with a Forester package (only way to get gps). At a loss for old maps & now no micro-sd card to even use gps when their equipment lost it, not us. Car was in garage & not started. Gps has many flaws & people need to know garmin & nono gpss are better - passenger cannot make changes or set gps when car is driving (must pull off road & stop to do anything); maps are very old (Subaru indicates they may be 9 months old while you only have limited time to update); gps directs you to wrong place & doesn't even guide you home when asked; cannot request directions to businesses, points of interest & etc like portable gpss; etc. Safety concern is a real issue as a micro-sd card must never go flying by a persons face or even do more than release the sd card to remove it. Subaru will gladly order a new sd car for the price mentioned even though their equipment lost it. Poor company to trust to do the right thing.
