1 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2017 Subaru Forester

Failure Date: 04/19/2021

Car nearly stalls when starting from stop after sitting at light or intersection when in regular (not sport) mode. Especially occurs when having to turn from a stop and accelerate faster. Have almost been hit by oncoming traffic several times. Does not occur in the other modes. Very scary! ?fuel pump or other defect? city and county roads. Reproducible.

2 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2014 Subaru Forester

Failure Date: 12/01/2020

My 2014 Subaru Forester's engine at times acts as if it is going to stall. It acts as though it is getting no fuel. I have had the fuel filter/fuel pump assembly replaced and it seemed to run ok for a short time. The stalling action does not always happen. Sometimes it runs smoothly. Then it starts the sputtering/stall action again. The mechanic who replaced them in an effort to correct the problem is not able to tell me what else could be causing it. My vehicle gets 93 octane gas and only has 32,000 miles on it. Please help.

3 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2016 Subaru Forester

Failure Date: 10/04/2020

My 2016 Subaru Forester has twice experienced a sudden engine stall while cruising at approx. 70 mph when the fuel was low. In both cases the low fuel warning light was not on and the vehicle showed fuel in the tank with fuel range of 70-100 miles. In both cases once the car was stopped it started again and ran normally until and after refueling. This has happened only at high speed which makes the condition especially dangerous in traffic. After the first incident (@ 42,000 mi. ) I took the vehicle to a Subaru dealer who checked the vehicle and found no explanation. Of course the dealer was not able to duplicate the exact circumstance of the power failure. The vehicle is currently under examination from the second incident which occurred yesterday (@ 50,000 mi. ). I do not know if this is a fuel pump problem but I have seen other posts that suggest that may be the cause.

4 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2017 Subaru Forester

Failure Date: 12/10/2017

First time, I was driving in the middle lane on interstate at highway speed, all of sudden the accelerator would not respond, the car panel went black, no lights or info showed. I coasted off to the side of the road, the car was in drive, ignition on. The emergency light wouldn't go on. I shut the car down and into park and waited a couple of minutes and restarted the engine without a problem. Second time, I was driving in the middle lane on interstate at highway speed, all of sudden the accelerator would not respond, the car panel went black, no lights or info showed. I coasted off to the side of the road, the car was in drive, ignition on. The emergency light wouldn't go on. I shut the car down and into park and waited a couple of minutes but car would not restart. I rocked the car side to side and the car started. I took to the dealer, they pressure tested fuel pump and found a slight pressure drop once during the test. Replaced fuel pump at 18,000 miles.

5 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2015 Subaru Forester

Failure Date: 06/09/2017

Lost complete power at 70mph in center lane of expressway. Shifted to neutral rolled to the side of the road. Gas gauge showed 1/8 tank, 70 miles, no fuel light. . Subaru said fuel pump overheated and that you should never drive with less than 1/4 tank. Complete loss of power with no warning almost caused a catastrophic accident. Vehicle was towed by aaa to Subaru dealer. Vehicle was unresponsive to aaa after sitting for 90 minutes waiting. Dealer said fuel pump is cooled by fuel and running it when fuel is low causes pump failure. Very casual, we almost died!. Repair record attached.

6 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2014 Subaru Forester

Failure Date: 05/01/2017

Tl the contact owns a 2014 Subaru Forester. While driving 78 mph, the vehicle stalled. The contact coasted the vehicle to the side of the road. The fuel indicator displayed that the fuel was low. The contact called the police and was escorted to get some fuel. The contact added fuel to the vehicle, restarted the engine, and drove 400 miles without further incident. The vehicle was taken to Subaru of daytona (650 n nova rd, daytona beach, FL 32114, (386) 255-2252) where they diagnosed that the vehicle was overheating and replaced the fuel pump. The dealer informed the contact not to drive the vehicle with less than a third of a tank of fuel since that caused the fuel pump to overheat. The fuel reader later displayed unusual readings and started illuminating constantly. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer; however, the contact believed nothing was done during the week it was in their possession. The manufacturer was contacted and provided investigation number: 1-38017139050. The manufacturer stated that they would call the contact back, but had not in four weeks. The failure mileage was 17,000.

7 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2015 Subaru Forester

Failure Date: 02/03/2015

I had my new vehicle only 4 days with 120 miles or so that I personally put on it. I was out one day and came to a stop sign and stopped. The car just powered down to not running at all. I put it in park, restarted, put it in drive to move on and it did it again. I put it in neutral and had someone push me to the other side of the road where I would be out of the way. This continued for about 5 times when finally it took hold and I managed to get home ok. The next day I had to go out and it seemed to be ok and had to put gas in it. I took it in to the dealers on Friday and told them about it so they kept it to find out what the problem was. Got a call back today on Monday 2-9-15 and they told me it was a faulty fuel pump. Wow, on a new vehicle! said the part should be in on Thursday due to being the only fuel pump anywhere near our area and the weather being iffy it would take longer. This was so unexpected of a highly rated vehicle. I had my pontiac vibe for 10 years w/ only a a/c problem once. With 130k miles on her I decided to upgrade to all the bells and whistles and now this. I am disheartened for sure. Let's hope this is the problem and nothing more. Thanks for listening.
