2 Brake Light On problem of the 2005 Subaru Impreza

Failure Date: 08/27/2020

2005 Subaru Impreza outback sport on 8/23/2020 the brake light was illuminated. Upon returning home, the brake fluid was checked and found to be low. Noticed brake fluid on driveway under car. The car was not used until taking it to goodyear for an inspection on 8/27/2020. Good year identified that there is a leak in the brake line. They advised that there was a recall for Subaru's for this issue, although they could not locate it for this VIN#. I contacted Subaru and opened a case regarding this issue. The case number is 1-59715737668. They advised me that the recall did not apply to my vehicle. When I questioned that it appears to be the exact same part that was affected by the recall in other cars that year, I was advised to take the vehicle to a Subaru dealer for evaluation. The dealer would be responsible for contacting Subaru regarding the issue. The car will be towed to Subaru in the next day or so for evaluation.

3 Brake Light On problem of the 2013 Subaru Impreza

Failure Date: 07/18/2020

My cars break lights are not working. My car will lose power on the road to where it will completely die and I have to turn the ignition off and turn it back on to keep going. My emergency brake light is on my tire sensor lights are on even though tire pressure is correct there are times when I cannot get my car into gear. It will make a very loud clunking noise and then a whizzing noise when you turn the air conditioner on and then you get no power at all to the car. I cannot go up a steep hill on the highway because it will only go up to 35 miles an hour. When it loses power on the highway and I have to the restart the car that's very dangerous.

4 Brake Light On problem of the 2014 Subaru Impreza

Failure Date: 06/15/2020

The recall part replacement didn't fix my brake light issue. The brake lights were not functioning because of a brake light switch defect. I took my vehicle to the Subaru dealer in glendale, California for part replacement. They said they replaced the part but that the brake lights still do. It work and that it would cost $1000. 00 for them to fix the electrical wires.

5 Brake Light On problem of the 2009 Subaru Impreza

Failure Date: 08/29/2019

I called Subaru almost 5 months ago when I came across there was a recall on brakes since we were having the issue of the brakes flashing and the vehicle not shifting. Manufacturer recall #: wue90 on 2-28-19. Nhtsa recall #: 19v149000. When I called they said they did not have the parts yet to fix. On 8-29-19 the car was in an accident and brakes light was chiming and flashing earlier and may be related to why it did not stop in time and was involced in a rear end crash when driver in front slammed on brakes. A auto shop then tells me after the car was reported in the accident sommers Subaru called them on 9-4-19 to tell the car had a brake safety recall. I have made a previous complaint about this vehicle on 4-19-19. Complaint # 11197303.

6 Brake Light On problem of the 2016 Subaru Impreza

Failure Date: 07/08/2019

While car was slowing in a parking lot area, turning and braking (have witness to attest to this), it had sua (sudden unintended acceleration) as I was about to park and the vehicle went over a curb and through a building wall in less than 10 seconds. The air bags did not deploy. This car also had a recent recall involving the electrical brake system lights/sensors. There was no alcohol, pills or anything of that sort involved and nor was a cell phone in play and no distractions. The car was being parked, as is the case everyday and there was a jolt of acceleration as I was doing so, which in turn caused confusion and panic. My foot was not on the acceleration as this happened. I am very fortunate that no one was hurt. Although, seeing how I have never been involved in a wreck before, this has all been very traumatic. (driving for almost 20 years) I have notified my insurance and Subaru about what happened. Hopefully they can shed some light on the situation so it won't happen to anyway one else. The other people that it has happened to, upon research, my heart goes out to them.

7 Brake Light On problem of the 2016 Subaru Impreza

Failure Date: 05/13/2019

I received a recall notice for brake lights Subaru safety recall wue-90; nhsta recall id 19v-149; April 2019. I called our local dealer to arrange repair and was told that it wouldn't occur until 8 July. What are we supposed to do in the meantime? the car is used for business and the only one we own. We can't just "not drive it" and are apparently at increased risk despite driving approximately 30,000 miles per year. In the two months before this can be remedied it will have been driven approximately 5000 miles, all the while running the risk of getting rear ended.

8 Brake Light On problem of the 2009 Subaru Impreza

Failure Date: 04/15/2019

Takata recall and safety recall wue90 NHTSA campaign: 19v149000 brake lamp switch. On April 4th, 2019 I called multiple dealers for this recall and the takata recall and they could not get me in until may 11th for airbag and the brake recall they do not have parts yet for it and the cars brake light is on. The last week and a half the brakes have been goofy and light illuminated which is part of the recall. Monday while driving on the highway at 55mph the rear passenger tire blew. Car has been towed because it appears part of the abs system has broke and pierced the brand new tire!.

9 Brake Light On problem of the 2016 Subaru Impreza

Failure Date: 03/13/2019

The brake stop switch fails intermittently causing dash lights to show the hill brake assist, stability control, and abs systems have stopped functioning. Another side-effect of this situation is the failure of the brake lights causing a risk of rear collision if the driver continues to drive even when the dash lights go off. An extremely unsafe driving situation.

10 Brake Light On problem of the 2011 Subaru Impreza

Failure Date: 03/09/2019

Received a recall regarding brake light switch but dealership (Subaru wakefield) has said that they do not have parts and have no plans. I've asked for a replacement vehicle until this safety issue can be addressed and I was denied. I want my car repaired or replaced with a loaner.

11 Brake Light On problem of the 2009 Subaru Impreza

Failure Date: 02/26/2019

When I brought my 2009 Subaru Impreza into colonial Subaru (in va) 2 weeks ago, there were many issues, but I didn't know the cause or if they were related. The strangest thing was all the issues started occurring out of nowhere over the past 4 months. My uncle is a certified Subaru mechanic in NJ and has been servicing my car since I bought it in 2013. I also took meticulous care of it for the past 5 years, and it was running perfectly until now. There was nothing wrong with it when he looked at it in sept. And it passed NJ inspection in oct. Then between oct and Feb (only 4 months), it's falling apart and needs a new engine and catalytic converter? I also didn't know until researching the issues (right before I took it into colonial) that there were still 2 open recalls on it brake line and air bags (I wasn't driving my car a lot at the time of the recalls because I was unemployed, and never even heard about them, so I had no idea). When I took the car to colonial, I asked for the free diagnostic and recall repairs, but also told them everything that was wrong. The full list I gave to them is in the attached doc. They lied about the real problems, my car was towed to hyman brothers Subaru, they found the cause of the catalytic converter damage (head gasket leak), but then refused to diagnose the other critical problems that are proven links to the new brake light switch recall. . . Which causes an electricity flow interruption (clearly spelled out in the new recall), that is documented and proven to cause electrolysis (mutating the chemical elements in the coolant making it highly corrosive, eat through the heater core connectors, leak out and damage the head gaskets (then leak coolant/oil into the catalytic converter). All needed repairs should be free of charge because they are a direct result of the faulty brake light switch interrupting the flow of electricity.

12 Brake Light On problem of the 2016 Subaru Impreza

Failure Date: 01/02/2019

Brake lights turn on autonimously without having to pull the emergancy brake or depress the brake pedal. The brake light within my vechile will turn on while driving randomly or even while in a stationary position, there is not set time interval to the random on and off brake light switch. Some times it'll turn on and off within five minutes of driving or thrity minutes. There has recemtly been a recall by Subaru for this exact issue but I have not received a dealer notification yet.

13 Brake Light On problem of the 2013 Subaru Impreza

Failure Date: 12/11/2013

Brake failure at low speed coming to stop at traffic light, traction control light came on,brake light came on and check engine light on. Returned to dealer to repair. Dealer took 2 days to repair . At witch it lasted till today(12/30/2013). The same thing has happened again. Very scary you wonder if the car is reliable and always afraid to travel now. Have grandchildren and cannot trust this car. I hope someone can help. Have to return to dealer (again) to have them look at it (again). Wonder if they know how to fix it.
